I went home for the evening and Encompass called me to inform me they sent him back to Martin South after seeing my husband was not at all ready for rehab. Martin south called me to inform me he was in critical condition they were going to send him to Martin North critical care. After several hours he was sent. The next morning, I went to North he was in very good hands and was being well taken care of. Several days passed he was in and out of having a good day, they moved him out of critical care to shared room. They had him on heavy meds, oxygen etc., and he was not doing well. Hospice was refused again after we talked to them several times. I notice he was getting worse and difficulty taking all the needles, the meds, he told me in a lot of pain to stop all the poking and pain. The doctor said he was not responding to the care. I told my husband goodnight that day he said "goodbye" instead of goodnight. He went to sleep. Next morning he would not wake up, I knew he was in a coma, the doctor moved him back to private room and suggested hospice. I told him they had refused to take him, the doctor said they will now, he called them. At this point my family and I had said our goodbyes, I had 37 wonderful years of memories with the love of my life! Yes hospice came in, maybe now he is ready for them. (I have no respect for hospice). My husband passed that night. Martin North nurses and Doctors did everything they could do and made our family as comfortable as one could expect under the circumstances.

Going in to this I was told that in order to go home I had to be able to eat and hold down food and PEE. I came out of anesthesia around 5 pm and was given dinner shortly after. I ate and held food down. I was finally able to urinate at 8:45pm (WHILE MY NURSE WAS IN MY ROOM) and then asked about going home. My nurse said she had to ask the charge nurse, because she was "under the impression that I was staying the night". She came back to my room 45 minutes later with an ultrasound machine for my bladder and took a reading. Around 310 ml of fluid in the bladder. I said its been 45 minutes I can pee again; again while the nurse was in the room. She then took another reading which was between 120 and 150 mls. She said it was reading the same. I pointed out that the 310 said "last max reading". I was then told that because of this reading they had to get ahold of the doctor that performed the surgery to see if it was okay to release me. (found out at post op appointment that they told my doctor that I had not urinated! Straight up LIED to my doctor) My doctor got back with the staff saying that if I was dead set on leaving tonight I could have a leg bag catheter placed. I said let's do it. The charge nurse came in to place the catheter and asked if I've ever had a catheter before. I said I'm pretty sure I had one in during the surgery. "oh I meant while awake." I said its been a while but I'm pretty sure I had to have one for my c-section 18 years ago. She placed the catheter as a hang bag and was teaching me how to clean it, when the patient a couple rooms away started freaking out (saying this place was the devil and that she needed to get out of here). So the charge nurse said that she would have someone clean up the iodine and get my converted to a leg bag, but then left to deal with the other patient. A new nurse then came in to convert me to the leg bag and I mentioned being "cleaned up". She left the room and came back with a tub filled with stuff and said "You said you soiled yourself?" I said no she just used a bunch of iodine. She cleaned me up and converted me to a leg bag. I looked at it, and said I think it's upside down. The charge nurse was showing me how to empty and clean it and that nozzle was in the tube. I thought maybe it can work both ways and let it go. I got my clothes back on and was rolled out to the emergency room exit at 11pm. It felt like they wanted to keep me overnight to tack on hidden fees to my insurance. I had already paid $1800 to have the outpatient procedure... an overnight stay? Probably looking at another $1000. When my husband finally got me home and in bed HE had to flip the catheter bag to work properly. Worst night of my life!

So sweet and so nurturing to new mamas and second time mamas. Very patient with mamas in pain and mamas who have a hard time breastfeeding. There is always someone there who is willing to help you with anything you need and so much more. You forget you're a patient here and I was sad to go honestly. My baby boy was delivered here safe and sound! Recovery would have sucked if I was in Miami. I was so scared of doing cesarean again... although there will always be pain in recovery, it was so comforting to have someone there to literally hold your hand as you walk it off. I love all of the nurses on that floor! Thank you so much for everything you do!!

They messed up my father's medicine for 36 hours. He got an infection from his catheter removal (which is common) however the staff didn't catch it (I DID - when he started hallucinating. Doctor's don't order necessary testing, etc. I've had Doctor's lie to my face about things they told me the prior day. This hospital is dangerous. I'd be interested to see how many lawsuits they have pending. Do not trust them with your body or your life. Any person in that hospital needs a friend/family member advocate with the at all times to prevent medical negligence. Go to Tradition instead.
