I scheduled an emergency appointment for a tooth extraction because I was experiencing significant pain, yet the visit became a series of reasons why the extraction could not be performed. I was first told that, as a "new patient," additional X-rays were required, even though I had been seen at this location less than two years ago for a previous extraction. After the X-rays, Dr. Oak Moe explained that the extraction could not be done because I was in too much pain which was the very reason I scheduled an emergency appointment in the first place. I was also made aware that the dentist had other appointments and that time was an issue. During the visit, the dental assistant checked my blood pressure and said it was too high. I tried to explain that my blood pressure needs to be taken under the proper conditions, with my arm elevated and relaxed, but my concern did not appear to be adequately addressed. Then I was told that I could not have the extraction without obtaining medical clearance from my doctor. I had already completed the medical forms and signed the necessary releases, accepting responsibility for providing accurate medical information. Overall, I left feeling frustrated and that my time, pain, and concerns were not taken seriously. The entire experience felt unnecessarily complicated, especially for an appointment that was specifically scheduled as an emergency extraction. If I could give this location less than one star, I would. Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend that patients ask questions about requirements, procedures, and insurance charges before committing to treatment. Needless to say, I went to another dentist on Saturday and had the tooth removed with no extra X-rays. Not to mention that the dentist at West Main stated that I had cavities, etc but I recently (two weeks ago) had my cavities filled and the only issue was the one tooth. I truly believe that it was a straight up Medicaid scam, they are trying to do extra X-rays, and extra work to make up for the horrible pay rate for Medicaid patients. Do not go there!!!
