Urgent Veterinary Care of Santa Barbara

Tip: arrive right before they open at noon. We waited about five minutes and were seen immediately. The initial exam fee was around $140. The facility is incredibly clean and modern, and every staff member we interacted with was professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely kind. They took their time answering all of my questions and clearly explained my options without any pressure- outlining both the minimum recommended testing and additional tests purely for reassurance. Lab work revealed mild pancreatitis. Bentley received fluids and anti-nausea medication, and we went home with antibiotics, digestive support, and prescription food to support his recovery. I left feeling confident that he was truly cared for from every angle. While the visit was more expensive than I initially expected, it was absolutely worth it. I walked out with answers, clarity, and peace of mind- and I would not hesitate to bring Bentley back here again.

Without running any tests the vet came back and said it might be cancer. I acknowledged that may be the case but thought it was alarmist and premature to say that. The technician came back after cleaning the ear up to say they at this point they do agree it's a wound with possible infection, not cancer. Although they wanted to meet with me to go over the treatment and meds before I left, they forgot to put an antibiotic medicine dispenser in my bag, and three separate times I had to remind them to go back and give my (feral) cat his first dose of antibiotics, and flea meds, and remind them again to check for worms. They also forgot to give me topical antiseptic pads so I can clean the wound. I think they are training young interns who have no idea what they are doing.

He's the love of my life and I don't regret him at all. However the condition he was given to me was so unacceptable. Poor Kenzo at just 8 weeks old was infested with Ticks, had an eye infection in his left eye and giardia. I was told I would get reimbursed for all of those medical bills that I had to pay right up front after purchasing a "healthy" puppy from Timeless but instead Karen eventually just stopped responding to me. Well now fast forward almost 6 years and he has been diagnosed with primary glaucoma (this form is hereditary) it's been a horrible diagnosis. There's no cure, it's extremely painful for them and eventually they go completely blind in both eyes. Please rethink on where you're getting your puppy from. Our sweet boy is now suffering everyday from this horrible eye disease that has no positive outcome and will leave him fully blind in just a couple years or possibly even shorter.

The puppy that was delivered to me had massive behavior problems. Voracious digger =heartache. Aggressive towards other male dogs. I guess letting the father dog in to terrorize the babies really is not smart. She also tried to get my vet to falsify information... on and on it went. I returned the pup and gifted him to the puppy nanny who had delivered him to me. Again, this breeder inserts herself and snags him back. Please find a breeder that actually cares about the dogs and not buy from a breeder who is in it to support their own egos! Despicable B____!

By day 4 he succumbed to acute blindness. How a vet was not alarmed seeing the dosage on the bottle is beyond me. Ophthalmologist verify our cat is completely irreversibly blind due to its toxicity. I've had vets for over 30 years and never had anyone been this gross negligent. Another woman shared on my Nextdoor post that her dog was prescribed antibiotic by this same vet and caused fatal internal bleeding. Fatal. It makes me wonder what kind of vet this woman is. She's only been there since Feb 2023, just a short 3 years. There may be other cases we don't know about. Beware. If you choose them, you should really google info and ask PetMD about the meds/dosage. I did file a complaint with VMB. CA law does not punish vet malpractice unless it's proven to be intentional. VMB is a division of the Department of Consumer Affairs. They will investigate and do have a measure of accountability from citing fines, to further training, to probation, to protocol requirements, to suspension and revoking license. When he suddenly got very sick on Sunday evening, she interrupted her Memorial day weekend to drive to our house and put him gently to sleep, on the floor with the family all around. We had been thinking we would have to take him to some cold animal hospital where we wouldn't know anyone, and where he would have been taken away from us. So very kind and understanding.
