He treated me and my boyfriend kindly and made sure all our questions were answered and I didn't feel rushed. He took care of our old senior girl and removed a huge tumor from her that other vets didn't want to do because of the size. He even went out of his way to call the following morning to check in on her to see how she was doing. His staff is also nice specifically Lainey who I want to thank for being so kind and also not rushing me on the phone. I came across so many other vet receptionists who just wanted to get me off the phone when my dog was DYING but Lainey took the time to talk to me and listen. Thank you all. you saved my baby and you made me feel taken care of as well. I'd drive an hour for you guys each time to have my animals taken care of by you and your team.

June 18, 2026: First time client. When I arrived on time…read more(with my cat's medical records) for a Wellness Check, not one person on the staff was welcoming or friendly. My cat and I were placed in an examining room (with an examining table) for a very long time. An unfriendly female staff person walked in and (weirdly) took my cat in his carrier away from me to a back room (I was not allowed to accompany my cat); leaving me waiting (behind a closed examining room door) for a very long time. I went to see where my cat had been taken (my poor cat (in his carrier) was left; on the floor; all alone; completely neglected. (Dr. Bettina was not there; she was late; I was told absolutely nothing about her lateness). When she finally showed up (after doing out of my sight "only God knows what" to my cat) she tried to sell me an additional vaccine that my cat's medical records clearly showed he wasn't due for until 2028. She also tried to get me to buy the cat food sold there (which I did not need). There was a cage in the (very scary to the poor kittens) very large front window that had 2; poor; screaming; terrified; traumatized; "up-for-adoption" kittens that the staff completely ignored; that they left to suffer in intense fear. The clinic itself is aged and smells very musty (it was flooded 3 years earlier with creek water) and has obviously not been professionally cleaned and/or maintained. They don't care about the animals; they don't care about you. I (WE) ARE NOT GOING BACK.

We called the hospital and the front desk asked us to call poison control center who later asked us to bring our dog to the closest hospital. Luckily the hospital is just 4 mins away from the downtown area. I was in a lot of stress so I'm so sorry I didn't really get the names of all the wonderful people that helped us. I was really overwhelmed knowing that my dog could go into seizure any minute, and everyone was very friendly, helpful, and patient during our entire visit. They quickly did treatments and asked to keep my dog til end of day for observation. Unfortunately we had to head back to LA but the doc gave thorough instructions on observing him through the night and giving follow up kibbles every 2 hours to keep his blood glucose level up. She even offered to walk out to explain the situation to my husband who is allergic to cats and was waiting outside, even though she has a leg brace on and was using walker! (I hope you feel better soon!) Our dog is still not out of the woods yet but I wanted to leave a shoutout here to the doc and staff who helped us today. Thank you all so so much!!

Yes they are good to my animals and yes they are driving to the home, but to be double the price of every other place...? It is just wrong in my eyes. We love our lab too much to not have the best and we are so lucky to have such a great resource in Santa Barbara. Our lab has had excellent results and Dr Wright is a caring, very skilled surgeon. Dr Wright is a "traveling" surgeon here on the central coast, so he came to our regular vet clinic (SB Pet Hospital) and used the facility (for both surgeries). I really like this because our dog knows the clinic and the staff are excellent at taking care of him overnight and the surroundings are familiar to our dog. The first TPLO was 4 years ago and this month our dog blew out his other one. Both experiences have been excellent (not cheap- that's for sure) but well worth it to see our dog happy and healthy again.
