The Lodge For Pampered Pets - Cat boarding too!

They reopened at a new location and we attempted to give them the benefit of the doubt- but between booking and arriving no one reached out to tell us a piece of documentation was missing from our vet and we had to leave with our dog and figure out same day care plans for her. So all around complete lack of communication in our experience. Will have to find a new place.

All three of our healthy, vaccinated dogs (9 yo f English setter, 2 yo M English setter and a 4 yo…read moreM Great Dane) got very sick during their stay and our Great Dane died from complications of whatever he picked up there a week following. I have attempted to discuss what happened with them, only to be told that the owner is out of town and will contact me on August 27. Therefore, given the urgency of getting dogs tested for whatever was spreading around that place, if you boarded at The Lodge for Pampered Pets recently, they were closed for cleaning from August 14-20th due to an outbreak of what they believe to be canine cough, but may be something else. This information was sent out via email on July 29 for some clients, but not to us. In fact, they sent us an email confirming our reservation from August 3-8 that made no reference to an outbreak at the facility, just in the "area", and made no mention of the closure in less than a week after our dogs were there. We received information about the closure on the 12th along with a statement from a vet stating that it isn't a serious disease. The point is that they knew there was an outbreak before July 29, made the decision that it was serious and they needed to shut down and clean, and yet didn't close their facility until august 14th. Additionally, they didn't mention the closure or reasoning to people boarding in the weeks following the decision to close and the closure.

I also like that they are given 3 hours of playtime each day. Shortly after we dropped off Juneau we noticed someone had put her toy and slow feed bowl in her kennel. Then the next day we noticed there was no toy, bowl or cot. I had watched over a 24 hour period and nothing changed. I emailed and asked why this happened and I never received a response. She was being fed in a regular bowl, which she will eat too fast and choke. I also noticed a pee spot on the floor and was not sure if it was due to this or not. However, Juneau is just a puppy (fully potty trained) and used to going outside every couple hours, so I don't know if that was the issue or not. I never found out what happened.

The girl on the phone was so nice and all of the workers that I interacted with were too. I knew that my pet was in great hands! I watched him occasionally through the webcam and it was so fun to watch him play. He loved the girls and he followed them around. I really liked the schedule and the amount of play time and walks that the dogs receive. Some boarding places may be cheaper, but this place is definitely worth the price and I wouldn't take my dog anywhere else. It was so cute to see my dog sitting on one of the girls lap during play time. He's very spoiled and it was so sweet that she let him sit there. He gets very anxious around new people and I was glad that he felt comfortable. I decided to place him in the boutique, which is meant for small dogs, but in the future I will probably put him in the Hills suite. There are always dogs in that suite and I don't want him to feel lonely at night. One night he was all alone in the boutique suite so I felt bad ): When we went to check him out they gave us a picture and a report card. This was so adorable!! I loved the picture so much. I was so happy with my experience and I will always bring my dog here for boarding. He misses his new friend Lulu!

I had really high hopes for taking my dog Sasha here…read more Unfortunately the experience fell very short. Let's start off with the most alarming (and yes, Sasha passed evaluation and was invited back): I tuned in to watch the camera in Room 1 from time to time and was disturbed every single time I dropped in to watch. 1. Another dog attempted to mount/hump her with no intervention from the staff member multiple times. I saw Sasha defend herself and push the other dog away with her paw at least twice. A pair of doodles actually ran up to intervene on one of the several occasions. 2. The hygiene of the play area is disgustingly atrocious. The dogs are allowed to urinate anywhere and everywhere. But what's worse is that a mop that just gets rung out gets used over and over and over again. Not rinsed or dipped in the bucket, just rung out and reused, Gross. I WATCHED this and was shocked. As soon as I picked her up, she smelled like she was drenched in stale urine. I immediately had to bathe her. And she's not a small dog! It was absolutely disgusting. Needless to say, highly inconvenient to need to bathe her right afterwards. 3. It was a beautiful day and one of the few left as we head into colder weather. The dogs got absolutely no outside time. What was the actual point in telling new customers about these outdoor features that none of the dogs were able to access. 4. Sasha is not new to dog daycare and does very well socially. Dogs in general are fairly intelligent. Sasha sat off to the corner by herself (as did a few other dogs, so not bizarre), but I noticed the dog monitor never approach or greet Sasha. Only walking past slinging a pee soaked mop and obviously counting down the dread of her job. The body language and lack of engagement, enthusiasm, and energy was incredibly apparent. Read: ppl that do the job to get a check vs enjoy working with pets. 5. This place inside reminds me of those tv prison yards. Perhaps I'm guilty of being overly attentive, but when it's a new place, I'm careful and vigilant. Quite a few of those dogs looked so so depressed. As though they were serving a prison sentence. And yes, there were also quite a few that seemed very cheery w/ a playful demeanor. But this tells me that the dogs are not properly evaluated for either the rooms or needs private play. Which leads me wondering... is this place just a cash grab??? 6. I prefer authenticity over the performative. Both individuals that I met were nice (check in/out), but it felt super manufactured. It was actually odd. Like if I had a dial, I would have turned the forced overt loud kindness from a 10 to 6. It's 2025, just be genuine. 7. The report card is BS. I purposely made no mention of what I saw, bc I wanted to get their version of the evaluation. But after receiving... "[Sasha was a bit nervous, initially, but maintained confidence with a regal like manner...]" -- what is that?!?! Maybe instead just say, Sasha was a bit nervous, she had no issues interacting with the other dogs, but she preferred being alone the majority of the time, we noticed another dog pestering her, she was quiet, but perhaps she will warm up with more visits." Conclusion: this place served the bare minimum. If you're looking for a convenient place to dump your dog for the day, sure, fine. But if you want a clean/hygienic, well monitored place, where your dog can be somewhat simulated and allowed fresh air on a nice day, this place is absolutely not it! And more importantly Sasha didn't like it. Not that I blame her. I'll pay more money for either a higher quality place or at-home care. Such a shame.
