Where sniffing butts is acceptable.

We go to a bar to sit, socialize and drink a few brews with friends and we bring our pup to the dog park to socialize with his friends. Although this park is really just wood chips and dirt, it's close and there is always plenty of dogs in the evenings for Zeus to get out and socialize. I do notice lots of owners done pick up after their dogs so watch where you step!

I've been to quite a few dog parks during my time as a fur-mama. This one... isn't my fav (I'm not a fan of the no-grass thing) but it's close to my house, pretty big and there are always at least a couple of dogs so my pups are happy. I do wish they had grass though. The first time I ever came here was approximately a year ago and it was around noon on a weekday so as expected, there weren't many dogs and I remember seeing a ton of red ants. From then on, I started going to the dog park over by the zoo... but then I came back here and didn't see anymore red ants and I've been coming here ever since. Not too bad, plenty of seating, and parking.

Because I live so close to the Taylor Ranch dog park, this is the only one that I've been to! It's in nice location, near the TR library, and the TR park, and there are always tons of people around and children playing soccer on the fields. This makes the park feel very safe. About a year ago, they put in a walking path through the dog park, so you don't have to be walking on the bark that is laid throughout. This was a nice addition. There are covered benches to sit on, water for the dogs, and of course doggy clean up bags. On weeknights, in the summer, there is even a food truck that sits outside the park selling either snow cones, roasted nuts or some other yummy snack--which makes this an added bonus! Check it out :)

Let me tell you why I love this park so much....the Mon-Fri 7am-9am group of dogs & their owners are one-of-a-kind-wonderful in every way. There are other cool dog parks around town, but this one has a looooooooooooong area for my dog to run and run and run and run. The wood chips don't bother me, or my dog, and I seriously look forward to my morning visits to hang with "the crew" - Just an exceptional group of people with amazing dogs who love to play with other dogs. They run each other out, wrestle each other to oblivion, and it's just completely made the whole experience for me. It's great to be around people who "get" dogs, and don't feel any anxiety about letting their dogs be dogs with other dogs. They look out for each other, and each other's dogs. And while I'm raving about the crowd more than the details of the park itself, it's just because it really seals the deal for me. They are regulars every day all year long and this is their stompin' grounds. Happy to be a part of it. It would be nice if the city left the water on a little longer, but other than that, I see staff replacing trash bags daily, and bringing in fresh wood chips often enough.

Love the dog park. Plenty of room to run and friendly dogs and people. We are from out of town, this was a nice place to relax with our dig

They even have a dog course in the park which I thought was really cute and fun for the dogs. I am giving it 3 stars because of the people. No one followed the rules and there were big dogs on both sides. My dogs do well with old big dogs or calm big dogs; not hyper or energetic big dogs. At first, it was just a guy with one old lab. Then another guy with 3 big calm huskies. Then a lady came in with her 4 rowdy big dogs and one small dog. After that is was chaos, they were chasing my dogs and trying to dominate. Once we noticed the rowdy dogs enter, we tried to leave. Then more people with more big dogs came in and were causing my dogs to run away scared. It's one thing if you have calm big dogs or if the park was void of little dogs but common courtesy to just follow the rules or at least ask if we minded. What's the point of a split park if big dogs are on both sides. Might as well remove the fence. Which doesn't matter cause the fence is short enough that once we did get our dogs to leave a dog hopped the fence into the in between fence where you leash/unleash. He was just waiting for us to come in so he could play with my dogs. We just waited and he hopped the fence again but now on our side! Just too much stress for my dogs and I sadly won't be going back. I really had high hopes when we first got there. I was in love with the park but it's just not worth it for my dogs. If your dogs mesh well with big dogs of all types, I highly recommend. It is a great park as long as the people are respectful.

The natural setting in this park provides the dogs with more things to explore and keeps them busier than all of the other dog parks I've visited in Albuquerque. I've been to 8 of the 14 parks around the city, so have had a lot of dog park experience. I have found the people and dogs to be friendly and cooperative -- no aggressive behavior when I've been there. My boys love to sniff around all of the bushes and find shade among the trees and under the benches, They tend to hang around me if I'm chatting with some of the other dog owners. But they venture out on their own more than in other parks where they have nothing much to do. I enjoy the park for my own pleasure as well. Among a group of large trees near the south entrance, hawks have built a nest and babies have hatched recently. The bird-watching that is going on is interesting and folks are getting some great photos of the hawk family. If you are in the vicinity, don't miss this park. I'm sure you'll love it. Karen N.

Most dog owners are nice and there seemed to be regulars here. They are friendly and for the most/majority of dogs and their owners, they are pretty nice and friendly. I like that my dogs feel comfortable there and can take some time to socialize with other dogs as they pleased...or can be left alone if they weren't in a mood to play with other dogs. There are also water area to get your dogs a bit refreshed and free poop bags if you ever need them, too. The only thing is just that not everyone picked up after their dogs. While the parks are generally clean, I've seen poos lying around here and there..and I wished owners would at least look/clean up after their dogs. Otherwise, I like this park the most so far..to the fact that I take the time to drive close to half an hour each way several times a week to this park to entertain my dogs (most visitors seemed to be locals in the area/live very nearby).

Lots of fun things for kids of all ages to do with plenty of play areas regardless of age groups. This includes a splash pad, slides and all kids of cool stuff I wish I had available to me when I was a kid...also I was really glad to see the park has swings and things integrated throughout for those who have special needs. Rio Rancho did it right over at that Park Above. Oh there is a dog park there too!

A beautiful park. But a misleading message for the disabled…read more The park celebrates allowing children of all abilities to play. This is portrayed in pictures and sculptures. BUT, when we visited to use the wheelchair swings (a rarity in lots of places) - the swings were chained down and there was a sign with a phone number that said to call to have them unlocked. Unfortunately, we had driven almost an hour exclusively to visit this park only to find out you have to call to have the swings unlocked. The saddest part is that they are chained to the ground. So, then you are standing (sitting rather) looking at the possibility for fun, but you cannot use them. Long story short, no one came to unlock the swings although we called multiple numbers. (It makes sense that the swings would be locked as they could potentially be dangerous if someone where to misuse them or leave the ramp down and an able bodied child trip over them. But if this park is going to have a major aspect of its marketing be about inclusion then shouldn't there be a person present at all times to unlock one of the few features that is truly accessible? Let's face it the child with disabilities can't realistically use the slides and various other items able bodied kids can, so perhaps the approach to the swings should be re-evaluated). The park is so beautiful and really looks like a lot of fun for children and families. It is clean and spacious. There is a nice walking path around it. There is a water feature for kids who want to get out of the heat. There is exercise equipment which is accessible. There is even an area for dogs if you insist on bringing yours (although most of the park is off limits to dogs). This park looks great for both adults and children. It is also secured with safety latches on the gates so kids can't accidentally escape. Had we known one had to call ahead we would have. Thus, this is a cautionary tale. The park is fabulous BUT IF YOU NEED ACCESSIBILITY CALL FIRST.

Haynes also has a huge field which is utilized for organized youth sports, but is usually available for an impromptu game of soccer, football, or my favorite park pastime...frisbee. The well established park also has several huge trees that provide shade to the barbecue goers or parents watching their little ones exude happiness on the playground.
