This is the second time I have used Taylor & Sons for moving. I used them for a business move a year ago and now a personal move. Cody and Cory were fast, efficient, and took care of my things - even things I thought I would have to move myself like the glass from my entertainment unit. I love the fact that Eric Taylor's employees have been with him for 10-12 years and are not just hired for the day as with some movers. You also speak with Eric and not a call center when you call them. I was moved from a second floor apartment (no elevator) without complaint, the actual charge came in well below the estimated charges which I credit to the speed of the team I have now dubbed the C&C moving express. The worse!!! Eric is a SCAM!!! Never came to my house for an estimate, told me to walk through the house and tell him what was in each room. I told him it is a 2,400 s/q ' house with large covered porch and large pool area. No Problem, he said one truck and 3 men. What a joke! He must hire RentaDrunk, 3 men took more breaks, finally telling them to get back to work. Then one of the men said we need another truck, it's not gonna fit. What started out one price more than doubled. What a nightmare, I can't believe he is still in business! Could not take a credit card only a Cashiers check from my bank and his wife told me to get a couple hundred dollars in case. In case of what? Should have been first RED flag! Then I get charged for another truck ,another man. I still don't know why I got penalized by this horrible company for being too lazy to come out and do an in person estimate. Could not take a credit card, WRONG! Had a hand held credit card reader (hand cruncher) in their truck, imagine that. Would not unload until they swiped my credit card and left my stuff everywhere! Charged for over time what a racket, I know after reading other reviews this seems to be the standard operation, ripping people off! On top of all this the rentadrunks stole so many things, too many to list but did include a large statue of St. Francis. (?) glass tops ,very expensive art etc... The guys did a good job but not the nicest guys. I was upfront with the owner that the attic was the main area I needed help with and the worker guy told me after he got there he doesn't do attics. My husband and I have moved frequently and this was the best moving experience we have ever had. Four guys - friendly, professional, super-helpful. We had a lot of stuff and they could not have been more patient and kind. When we asked them to move some heavier things around, there was nothing but "of course!" Lisa and Eric are both delightful to work with. They kept in touch until the move and were in constant contact all during the process of loading, unloading and set-up. DO NOT USE THIS MOVING COMPANY! You will be sorry. I have finally come out of shock of being called a C*** by Erik. When I initially spoke to Erik for a quote he asked me what I had to move so I told him everything. He said ok 3 hours 2 movers ok I agreed. I'm not a mover so I had no clue on hours needed or how many men it would take. Never did Erik ask for pictures or ask to FaceTime to see my household just sent 2 movers. The older one had a major attitude from the get go and asked me if I had only requested 2 movers? I said no Erik asked what I had and I told him. The movers said Erik needed to come to the site to see what the customer has to be better at projecting manpower and hours needed. First call from Erik he was yelling at me telling me that I completely mislead him on what needed to be moved. Second call from Erik he's yelling at me it will cost me double what he initially quoted because I did not properly convey what I had to move. I said I did properly convey what I had you should have asked for pictures or come to my house to see what I had. He hung up on me after that. Third call from Erik he tells me his men have got to stop loading "RIGHT NOW". They have another move they need to do that afternoon and it is my fault because I miscommunicated my house hold items. Ok so now what to do? Well I had to go to the bank for a cashiers check to pay him double because we are now on hour 6 instead of his quoted 3 hours. Then there was my last call from good ole Erik screaming at me so I hung up on him. Erik called me right back and said we must have got cut off I said" No A******" I hung up on you that's when he really showed his true colors and called me a C***. His movers were right there and heard him say it loud and clear I'm pretty sure they were in as much of a shock as I was! $482 for 3 guys to unload a u-haul and sedan for 55 minutes. Wife and I even helped a little. Workers were great, efficient, good humored. "Minimum 3hr policy" is needless and predatory (it was $149/hr + $35 travel charge). Probably fine if I needed 3 guys for 3 hours. But I didn't. Unless Eric/management is paying these guys $100/hr+, not a good experience for me. Uhaul-sponsored companies had quotes 200-300 for the same job. Eric Taylor is the rudest moving person I've dealt with, and I've dealt with many. I had a minimal job, one bedroom set consisting of 5 pieces, and he quoted me the 2 hour minimum. I had the cash he quoted ready to give to the driver. When the truck arrived at my house he tried to pad the bill by an extra 1/2 hour. When I objected, he threatened to take my furniture to his warehouse and I could come and get it myself. The job took 1 hour 50 minutes, so I demanded a refund from the driver. Eric Taylor justified padding the bill since he sent out 3 men instead of the 2 we discussed - the real reason he sent 3 was because their next job required 3. He raised his voice at me, talked over me, and threatened me. Life is too short to do business with such people. read more

Let me start out by saying that this company didn't do anything "wrong" or different than they said that they would do in the move. However, the way things worked out, it ended up being very expensive for a relatively small move and I feel like the company, especially for a local family-owned business, should have been more accommodating. Our daughter was moving from Ocala to Melbourne. We had her items loaded into a U-Haul truck & then drove the truck down to Melbourne ourselves. We hired Taylor & Sons to unload the truck at our daughter's new apartment. We arrived in Melbourne with the loaded truck well before our scheduled unloading time. Unfortunately, our daughter got lost coming from Ocala. She was going to be late getting there. The apartment complex office would not give the keys to anyone except our daughter. We called Taylor & Sons to see if they could come an hour later and they said no since they were already scheduled. Our choices were to cancel and pay a $200 cancellation fee or pay for the time that the movers were there waiting. The ironic part is that when we scheduled the move for 3:00, they told us that they could be there anytime between 3:00 and 5:00. But yet if we were late, we would have to pay for the time anyway. We decided to wait because we were already there and were paying for the truck and to reschedule would have been next to impossible based on our and most likely their schedules. The movers (3 men) had to wait 40 minutes for our daughter to arrive. Once she arrived, It took 45 minutes to unload the truck. This included time for the movers to put their equipment back in their truck and leave. Our family helped unload the truck to expedite the process. Therefore, the movers were at the apartment for a total of 1 hour and 25 minutes. We were charged $497 for the move. $154 per hour for 3 hours. 1 hour standard for travel time (which we were aware of) + 1 full hour of time the movers were on the premises + 1 hour charge for the partial hour that they were on the premises (which we were also aware of) + $35 fuel surcharge. The move itself was okay. A couple things were damaged during the loading of the truck in Ocala. It would have been nice if they would have made some sort of attempt to help fix a dresser leg or a bent bed frame or even help unload some boxes or assemble a dresser mirror especially since they were already being paid for that extra part of an hour that they weren't even there. But we didn't really press it and they were in no hurry to volunteer. I understand that based on our agreement, they had the right to charge for 3 hours of service (although we originally were supposed to have only 2 men at a lower hourly rate which also would have saved us money in the end for the 1 hour standard travel time fee and the unused portion of the partial hour). However, given the circumstances, I believe that charging a full 3 hours for a move that they spent 45 minutes of actual moving time was greedy and unprofessional. Even adding in the extra 40 minutes of idle time would not justify charging for 3 hours in my opinion, especially since they had informed us when we made the reservation that their facility was about 10 minutes travel time from our daughter's apartment. The company that loaded our daughter's belongings into the U-Haul truck in Ocala charged us $155 for 2 men taking 2 hours to load. I've been told that in general, it is more difficult to load a truck than to unload it, yet we were charged almost 3 times more for the unloading than the loading. I also own a family run business and would never take advantage of my customers to soak every penny out of them that I could get. I feel that this moving company took advantage of the situation. I have three kids with lots of friends and several other family members that live in the Melbourne area and I will make sure that they all know NOT to use Taylor & Sons moving. read more

We were told that that the two unloaders would show up and collect $302 dollars in cash as a downpayment for the initial three hours (two hours of work, an hour of drive time, and a $35 travel fee) and then would be an additional $89 per hour for any time above and beyond. Being ex-military and having moved many times, I'm not even going to address the ridiculousness of paying an hour travel time and a $35 fee to come unload my own truck. Of course it was explained that the reason for that is because these are professionals and they come with their own tools and will not only unload but also setup and put all the furniture back together, as any professional moving company should do. Ok whatever, I'll bite. Back to the $302 for the initial three hours...when they arrived they came into our kitchen and called Eric. I excused myself for a moment as I was on break from work and only there to pay them the starting fee that I happened to have, leave my wife to direct them where to put everything, then stop by the bank and come back from work a couple hours later to see if we needed to continue. Shortly my wife walks in to tell me that they now have to have $391 to start the work because we had to pay for four hours up front. I of course complained but what was I going to do so I had to run to the bank, paid them, then went back to work. I got back to the house just as they were finishing up. I tipped them because I know what a tough gig it is, and said goodbye. I went into the bedroom and moved the bed frame and it was very loose. When I looked closer it had barely been put together. When I asked my wife about it she said that they had no tools and she had to dig out the tools from the packed boxes so that they could put the beds together. When she said that she thought they were going to set everything up, he told her "no ma'am, we're just movers". After that I had to finish the beds myself and then proceed to move all the boxes that were clearly marked where to go, to their correct rooms. And one last thing, when she asked them to hook up the washer and dryer, he told her that they aren't plumbers and can't guarantee it will work. Very disappointed. If you just need someone to move something from a truck in your driveway into a home without worrying where anything goes or if it's assembled correctly, and don't mind paying $44.50 an hour per man and $124 fee for them to drive to your house because they're driving a moving truck and bringing their "tools", then this is the right fit for you. I used Taylor and Sons to move my daughter and her boyfriend into their new apartment. The team showed up on time and made quick work to get my daughter out of her old apartment. We needed them to help bring up furniture that my daughters boyfriend was bringing himself in a trailer. The team was very professional. The bill was based on estimated time to complete the job. They finished early and returned the difference to us. Very honest business and will definitely use them again. If I could leave no stars I would. Taylor and sons moving is the lease professional company I've ever spoken to. I booked a move with them on March 2nd for a move on March 29th. At the time of booking, I was told if i cancelled within 24 hours of the scheduled move that I would be charged $200. Unfortunately things fell through with the house I was buying so I needed to cancel the move. I called on March 17th for a move that was 12 days away. I was told I was being charged a $200 cancellation fee. When I inquired as to why (no service had been preformed and it was well ahead of a week before the move so they could easily rebook) they said "that's the policy". I questioned this as it made no sense and asked if I couple apply it to a future move. Instead of customer service, I started getting screamed at by Eric the owner. When I told him I would leave a negative review, he started screaming louder and told me "do it bitch, I will sue you. I pay a reputation management company and I will spend the money on you to sue. And I have a lot of it". Extremely unprofessional, rude and I can't believe they have the reviews they do. The day of the move, they took my stuff hostage and almost double charged me for bringing it back because I could not coordinate another form of payment fast enough. I used Taylor & Son for loading and unloading the U-Haul in Maryland. They weren't the cheapest, but they had some of the best reviews so I went with them. I was very happy with the work. We were so appreciative of our movers this morning September 25 9am. We can't remember the names of two but our receipt lists Iday as one of them. They were booked last minute due to our experience with a previous moving company we didn't want to use again. They arrived early. All three were polite, professional and worked so hard getting the job done. I'm surprised at the negative comments, it appears the movers I had were not the ones others had! I would not use this moving company again had I known the horrible experience I was in for. The quote I got on the phone was nearly $200 less than what I paid. When we arrived at my new home, the movers couldn't scan my card even though they told me they would accept credit cards but there would be an extra $10/hour charge. Even though it was no fault of my own, when I spoke to the owner he suggested for me to get the cash to pay or they would hold my furniture at $89/hour until the bill was paid in full and then hung up on me. When I called back, obviously upset, the owner's wife told me "put on your big girl panties, moves are stressful and I needed to calm down." Needless to say I was irate. I needed help moving my household goods into a semi trailer I had in front of my house. It was near the end of the month, which I guess is a busy time with movers due to apartment and home leases running out. They showed up on time. I had to pay an upfront hour and $35 for them to drive their truck to my house then for 2 hours of actual load time. I ended up having to pay for 3 hours of actual move time so I was just shy of $500. I didn't mind paying the upfront costs when they got to my house, but then when that time was up everything stopped till I paid cash for the extra hour. The 3 guys worked very hard and they did a pretty good job packing the truck solid. One the other side I had a few things shift, but I don't believe anything was broken due to them. My biggest complaint is paying for a truck I didn't use and a full hour for travel time. I will say look out for craigslist movers, you have no idea what you are getting. I was forced on the other side of my move to use one and they no showed after saying they were on the way. The other worry is one of them getting hurt on your property without having insurance. read more

Good personell to move your furniture out, but forgetful. When you move in, do not expect to have the items in the correct areas. You will have to move them later. They will get the furniture in the door. They will take two smoke breaks on your time while you are paying for the hourly rate. They charged me an additional hour after speaking on the phone for 20 minutes. They initially refused money and forgot 300 dollars at the final destination. They forgot a dolley and two mats, which i should have claimed ignorance or charged them for, because of the rude and unprofessional manner I was treated by the owner Eric without a thank you. Upon further organization of my furniture a few days later I discovered more equipment that had been left. One of the owners, Eric Taylor, cursed me out, stated racial, bigoted and ethnic slurs on the phone in the middle of the move towards myself without an apology. His movers, held my condo keys, apartment keys, car keys, and furniture, until I paid, not at the final destination of the move, but in the middle of the move. There was a washer/dryer combo going back and it was expressed over the phone prior to the move date, the amount would be paid at the final destination, which in this case was the return trip to the apartment. Overall, the move was more stressful because of Eric, but don't deal with this company because of the owner Eric Taylor. Upon further follow up on Facebook and email, the wife was very unapologetic and stated "you got what you deserved". I would stay away from this poisonous couple and company as they will find a method to make the moving job take longer, which comes out of your pocket. read more

The owner quoted me a price over the phone after taking detailed information from me about our move three weeks before we moved. After a little dispute over the exact date of the move, he worked us in. He was right about everything from the time it would take to load up the truck to the time it would take to unload. He was right on in his estimate. The 3 guys worked for 5 hours with a 5-min break for water, including through lunchtime. They started at 9am and finished at 1:30pm. They were fabulous. Everything was handled with care, nothing was broken and they assured us along the way that everything was going smoothly. This company is the real deal! I've used Taylor & Sons for a couple of moves. They were always prompt, even though one of the moves was on a stormy day. I told them _exactly_ what had to be moved, and had all the small stuff already packed up in boxes. And by small stuff I mean things like PCs and monitors. They were careful with the stuff I told them to handle gently, and went above and beyond moving the really big stuff. Like any other company that provides a service more complex than making you a cup of coffee, the more info you give these guys on the front-end, the more accurate your estimate will be. *Edit* A few days after I posted this review, Eric called me and apologised and said that there was miscommunication between him and his movers, as he didn't realize that one guy was sick the entire time and that the job could've been done by two movers. He offered me a $200 refund, which I accepted. I thought long and hard about whether I would remove this review, and decided that I won't because it all still happened to me, but that I would edit it to reflect the refund and adjust up one star *End edit* First, the positives: two out of three of the movers were good. One of the guys spent most of the time at my house throwing up in the bathroom, but the other two got the job done, and worked damn hard on some heavy glass and metal bedroom furniture. All of the furniture arrived unharmed and they were courteous, even the guy that lived in my bathroom: at least he cleaned up after himself. They did leave before reassembling the bed frame because the owner, Eric, told them to leave at a specific time no matter what. Which brings me to the negative part... The office staff was misleading and misrepresented the cost multiple times throughout the process. I told them when I called that the bedroom set that they were moving was extremely heavy and made out of glass and metal, and that it was comprised of a dresser, armoire, two nightstands, a mirror, a bed frame, and a headboard. They took my credit card information and took a deposit of ~$70 as a hold, and explained that any cancellation or change of date would be subject to a $100 fee. They said that they would be sending two guys, and they gave me a quote of $245. When it came to the day of the move, Eric called about an hour and a half after the movers arrived at the house that the furniture was at and said that they were going to need a third guy because of the weight of the furniture, and this would mean I'd have to pay for a third man to help out. I was not happy because it was now going to cost more than we originally talked about, and told Eric to call me back with a revised quote. He did so in a few minutes, and told me it would be about $450. Again, I was not happy but told them to do what they had to do to get the stuff here and agreed on that price. He called me again about 30 minutes later and told me that the two movers got the stuff loaded up and didn't need the third guy there, but that he would meet the other two at the destination (my house) to help out. When they got here, the driver walked in with the original quote, which was $245 and had me sign that (since the office also declined to mention that they would need me to meet the movers at the person's house that this furniture was coming from). He went back outside to contact Eric and came back in with a revised bill of $602! I was understandably pissed and called Eric and he weaseled around and I yelled and screamed and finally he agreed to accept $500 but stop at a specific time, but that he would only accept cash because this was always a cash deal. This was never mentioned, and as I mentioned before they took my credit card information over the phone when I arranged this. He finally took the card after my blood pressure was just about through the roof. On my revised invoice, there is a 3 hour charge for $147 for the third person. The two man amount was $420 + $35 for fuel. Remember that the third person was not there for the first part of the move, was only at my house after all this for just over an hour, and did nothing but puke in the bathroom anyway. This entire move was from 1:40pm to 5:40pm, and it was quoted as a two man job, actually moved by two guys, with a tacked on third guy that did nothing. Yet even after we settled on $500, that still meant that I had to pay $45 more than the $455 for the two men that actually worked for a guy that just puked in my bathroom. And I had to yell and scream to even get it to that amount, because remember that he wanted $602! I simply cannot recommend using this company. This whole interaction smacked of a bait and switch, and that's really a shame. I appreciate small business and spend as much money at them as I possibly can, but this is one that I would not recommend to anyone. BEWARE of these crooks!!! The low price is a total scam, add 40% to their estimate, at least. The owners will tell you anything you want to hear on the phone just to get you to agree to hire them, but when they show up to move your stuff, they'll make you sign an estimate that is much higher than they quoted. Their excuse is that it's "only an estimate in case it takes longer" but they assure you that it will only cost the original amount. When they arrive at your new place with your stuff, they bring out the same invoice and demand that you pay the higher price!!! If you refuse, they won't take your stuff off the truck. They hold your possessions hostage until you sign their inflated invoice and pay it in full. THEN, even after you pay, they still won't open the truck. It takes 45 minutes or longer for them to run your credit card and get approval. All this time you have to sit there and think about how they ripped you off and there's nothing you can do about it. Their workers say this happens all the time. In our case, things got even worse because we tried to resist paying for time we never received!!! Not only wouldn't they let us have our stuff, but the INSANE owner showed up at our house and started screaming at the top of his lungs at his workers, and even louder at us and at the neighbors who tried to help us. WE HAD TO CALL THE POLICE TO HAVE HIM REMOVED!!! Do yourself a favor and hire a reputable company or you'll be sorry, just like we were. Do not hire Taylor & Sons Moving & Storage. Previously, we read a couple bad reviews about them, just like you are now, but the owner promised us they were written by disgruntled ex-employees. We swear to you that we are simple customers that they took advantage of, and we could've gotten a much better company for the price we ended up paying! For example, ask them how they charge at least an hour travel time, that they fail to mention in the original estimate. Forget that they're licensed by the state; if you sign the inflated estimate when you let them take your stuff, then you have no case. I hope this helps you avoid being ripped off like we were. You realize that any positive reviews of these thieves were obviously written by the owners themselves. No customers of theirs would have ever said anything good about them. Beware of these guys. They are crooks. Even their employees were appaled at the way the owner treated me (the customer). They broke things during the move and when I complained the owner pulled his people during the move. I ended up having to move half the stuff on my own. To make matters worse they held my furniture etc hostage until I paid them in cash. They insisted on cash. My experience of broken furniture and much higher than quoted costs, lead me to not recommend this company.My daughter who was graduating from college and moving her 3 pieces of bedroom furniture and a t.v. from our home to her new location an hour and a half away was given a quote of $500 over the phone by Lisa.She assured us it was a high end quote but said she would rather quote high because she could sleep at night by not " blowing sunshine up our skirt", She told us many times that they were a mom and pop business and promised they would take good care of us. We never received a copy of this quote in the mail prior to the move. The movers showed up 3 hours late.They had my husband sign a contract in very dim light in my daughters room( lamps had been removed) The contract was for more than $200 over the price quoted. They proceeded to bring my daughters' very heavy and ornate bed downstairs and outdoors to the truck. They failed to wrap any of the furniture. As they were heading down the stairs my husband saw the ornamentation on the headboard wobble and cautioned the movers to be careful as he was afraid it was going to fall off. They assured him they had it under control and then the piece fell to the ground in our driveway and busted into pieces. They picked up the pieces and wrapped them in a blanket and placed them in the truck with the rest of the bed. When they arrived at the apt. they presented my daughter with the bill for $703.00. My daughter had withdrawn the $500 quoted from an atm earlier in the day and had money stashed in a piggy bank. I had a $20 bill and lots of change. We still could not come up with enough cash. My daughter was in hysterics crying as they were telling her they would not unload her furniture until she paid up in cash and would take her furniture if she did not. They left the apt. and said they would call the boss Eric and see what he said. When the mover returned, he said that Eric said he would take off one hour ($79) . We still did not think we had enough but got down to counting dimes and nickles. When they finally brought the bed upstairs to the apt., we saw it was destroyed. We could not believe it. They then carried the armoire up the stairs banging and struggling their way until they finally got it to the apt. with dings and gouges in the wood. This was a nightmare for us. They told us we could file a claim for the damage. When I contacted the owner Eric he told me they only carried the insurance required by law which was 60cents per pound of furniture. My daughters bedroom set was quite heavy, but even so this would not even be enough money to repair the armoire let alone replace the destroyed bed. I would recommend you try a larger more established company or rent a uhaul yourself. read more
