We were told Uber was an option, but this private driving service sounded like more secure. We had a dedicated local driver in a plush minivan. The one-way, cash-only cost was $130, which we felt was reasonable given the safety and comfort we wanted as first-time travelers to this part of Mexico. Our experience was without incident. He was on time and able to provide us an accurate estimate of the driving time. He even made a rest stop. I couldn't help it. I had too much tequila on the plane, OK? You will be perfectly safe just waving one down and the prices are predictable - 50 pesos for a short ride in Centro, 60 for a medium ride to nearby barrios, 70 for long trips. The drivers will wear masks, so should you and simply open your window in the usually fine weather. Nice drivers, makes getting around easy and reliable.

I was quoted a price, which I double-checked and confirmed. When the cab arrived, the rate was much more than the quote. I called the dispatcher back, and of course, he had no recollection of the previous conversation and No, Senora, that is always the price. At that point, we had to get to the airport and didn't have time to make other arrangements.
