Try worst service ever. We rented a car over a week before…read morethe pick-up date. We arrived, the car was there but lacked the navigation system that we paid a SURCHARGE for it. Additionally, it reeked of smoke, which is inconvenient since we had to drive to Berlin from Kaufbeuren with our three young children, two of whom suffer from asthma. We returned the car within an hour and had to wait over 2 hours before they had solved the issue and located a different car. First they tried to convince us to take the car after spraying some air freshner in it (a JOKE), then they tried to give us a SMART car (try fitting two adults and three children plus luggage in that! and driving 650 km with it to Berlin), before finally exchanging it with a VW GOLF. No apology, no refund for the smaller category car. These people are not only arrogant and rude, but also beyond incompetent. Unbelievable! Update: We had to rent a car here since there are few rental agencies nearby somehow they managed to top our first experience by NOT HAVING THE CAR THERE that we reserved more than 48hours beforehand, paid for by CC and received a confirmation ofIncredible!!!!

As an anecdote, after my first night here (I was jet-lagged), I arrived for breakfast very late and service was over. However, the manager not only kindly reminded me of the breakfast hours, but also insisted that I sat on a table and brought out for me a plate with a variety of breads, cheeses and hams, and also brought to me juices and even a yogurt! After flying for two days we found our beds and duvets to be extremely comfortable and all had a (desperately needed) good night's sleep. This morning it's Christmas Eve and we discovered we're the only guests, yet we had a luxurious breakfast waiting for us when we woke up at 7 a.m., including awesome smoked salmon, fresh breads and rolls, assortments of meats and cheeses, cereals, yogurts, meusli, nuts, and fresh fruits. And great hot coffee and fresh orange juice, to boot! All just for 3 people! Dog friendly, people-friendly and definitely a keeper for future visits. Very Highly Recommend!

We had trouble at the airport (lost luggage) and did not get to Kirschenfee until quite late. We felt really bad but the owner was really nice about it! Breakfast in the morning was great. The owner even drove us into Memmingen in the morning free of charge. Wish we could have stayed longer!

This is quite a lovely little airport. I believe it is an old airforce base. Outside there is an…read moreample openair carpark that has a 30 minute free parling allowance. Inside the main entrance there is a car rental kiosk (can't remember which), check in desks, and a coffee shop with a few seats. Going through secutiry, of which there are 6 stands, the staff have always been polite and the queues have always moved fast. Right opposite security is a duty free shop and gates 1-4. Gates 5-6 are upstairs with more seating and another coffee shop. There are clean toilets in all areas, including the processing area as you wait to go thorugh secutiry as you arrive in Memmingen. The airport itself is rather small, but has lots of natural light coming in, and because its small, you can very easily find what you need. The town of Memmingen can be reached by bus or taxi. A taxi on a monday afternoon cost about 10 euros.
