However, it is pretty efficient and most of the staff are polite and helpful, unlike another German airport I know (*cough* *Frankfurt* *cough*). Arriving here, I did not get a ton of instruction, but I managed to figure it out to get to passport control. One guy did help out in saying that non-EU passport holders had to pre-register before going into the passport control line. I might have been blessed that day, but wait times for security and passport control flying out were not bad at all and staff was very informative and friendly. Keep in mind that looking for various services can be a bit confusing, due to the vastness of the airport. Getting a tax refund for VAT can be a bit of a mystery. So if whatever item you're getting a refund for is in checked-in luggage, you have to go to the customs office before security to get the stamp before. However, if your item item is in carry-on, you have to go through security and passport control first, then go to a customs office post-security to get the stamp before going to whatever company you have to go to (probably either Global Blue or Planet) to recover your refund. Another thing that was kind of annoying is that a lot of the international flights are in the satellite terminal, which isn't necessarily bad. However, the part of the terminal that my flight was taking off of only had very few shopping and dining options and we were not allowed to go to the other part of the satellite terminal without having to go through security and passport control again, even though this is a satellite terminal that is entirely separated from the rest of the airport (you have to take a train to get there). That did not really make sense. However, there are more dining options in the first part of Terminal 2, so you could chill there before you take the 1-minute tram over. Overall, the airport was fine and, if you invest enough time, it should not be an extremely stressful experience. I would rather connect here than Frankfurt.

Don't have a burger from the self service cafe unless you like your burgers deep fried from frozen.

I arrived 2 hours early. Airport was busy at 4:00 am. Security check was quick. Only needed my boarding pass to use at kiosk to enter the que. One bag one tray were the instructions. Nothing in your pockets. There was a passport check station that was unmanned so I zipped past that to find my gate. When boarding call happens they check your passport. By my gate there was a busy coffee shop. Nearby plenty of shops willing to take your money.

They would not give us their names, and basically left us in a expensive and inconvenient position. Seems like there's nobody to talk to in order to resolve anything either. Big advantage: extremely quick to pass through. Be aware: the airport is in Switzerland and if you come from Bregenz you should be prepared for Swiss immigration control. People's Vienna Airline uses Embraer jet 170 - big enough to be able to stand straight in the aisle. Overhead compartment takes small sized luggage just like in any Airbus or Boeing jet

The airport has some amenities inside, washroom, sitting area. It's just a relaxing place to be because it's under serviced. Taking the public bus from the train station at 6am- it was sardines, perhaps additional buses could help with the traffic volume as some people take the airport bus to go to places too? The security line was simple- and long being that there wasn't much traffic. There is a tax free receipt box but I didn't spend $75 at a single business- it was a collection of multiple businesses so apparently I was not eligible for the tax refund? There were employees handing out individually packed wafers in the airport I guess to bolster review and respond for marketing the airport- but I was briefly stopping in- so I don't think I could comment on that. There was a lounge but not accessible through my credit card lounge network.

This could be my favourite airport I've ever travelled through. It's close to town which is a huge…read morebonus and the small size means you don't need to undergo marathon training in preparation for the inevitable mad dash to your gate before it closes. Plus the staff are great and seem to actually enjoy their jobs. It makes a tiring day of travelling so much more bearable. Good job, Innsbruck!
