My mother and I worked with a realtor from The CMoore Group starting in April 2025 to purchase our…read morefirst home. After six long months, we were left deeply disappointed, financially strained, and still without a home. We're now struggling to recover our deposit after an experience that was confusing, stressful, and emotionally draining. Throughout the process, we expected transparency, communication, and guidance, but instead often felt rushed and left to figure things out on our own. Important information about the property, such as its listing history, lack of renovation permits, and structural issues (we understand detecting structural issues to be up to the inspector however, the due diligence of the realtor to infer as to the disclosures/permits obtained for the property was non-existent. The lack of permits was never presented before we went under contract. We also felt that our concerns were not taken seriously once we raised questions about the condition of the home and decided to terminate the contract. There was even an instance where the realtor went on vacation, didn't even communicate this, and we spent two days reaching out for critical information to secure our HOI Quote, with no response until we reached out to the owner, and she stated that the realtor was on vacation, which at no point in time did he communicate or alert us. Even after the property was re-listed shortly after our termination request, our deposit issue has remained unresolved. We repeatedly reached out for updates but received little response or clarity. As first-time homebuyers, this experience has been extremely discouraging and has completely changed how we view the homebuying process. The one professional who truly met expectations was our home inspector, whose honesty and attention to detail stood out during this entire ordeal. Had it not been for this lack of thorough investigation and diligence, we would never have gone as far as wiring our $10,000 deposit or committing to a property that later turned out to be structurally unsound with unpermitted renovations. Despite The CMoore Group's stated mission to "educate, empower, and protect homebuyers," our experience reflected the opposite. At no point did we feel educated about the risks, empowered to make informed decisions, or protected from the consequences of incomplete information. Instead, we were left to navigate major financial and emotional stress that could have been avoided with proper guidance and transparency. I'm sharing this because I don't want other first-time buyers to go through the same thing. Make sure you research everyone involved in your transaction, ask questions until you fully understand each step, and never feel pressured to sign or move forward until you're comfortable.
