I'm sad to give a one star rating after many years of using Tax Comp with complete satisfaction. Things have been going down hill. Two years ago I waited 11/2 hours past my appointment time. This year I had a question for Mark after doing my return and my daughters return. I emailed with no response. I followed up with a phone call and a second email. It took Mark 18 days to get back to me. Unaccectable. I'm a reasonable person and understand "it's the busy season" but at least show a long time customer the courtesy of a quick response even if it's to say I'll get back to you later. Marilu did our taxes wrong and ended up making us owe $4500 more a week before taxes were due. We paid almost $400 for her to file our taxes only for her to do them incorrectly. Then suggested we could pay the tax over 4 years. We have no issue paying it. We would have preferred to know about it a month ago when we were getting our taxes done instead of a week before taxes are due when we got a letter from the IRS. She admitted to her mistake which is appreciated but it shouldn't have been made in the first place when this is your job and you are charging almost $400 for us to file our taxes. read more

I am very pleased with Tax Comp's service. My mom is 93 and I had to step in to take care of her paperwork and they allowed me to do this effortlessly from out of state. When another tax agency issued a corrected K1 in October, Tax Comp had my mom's corrected return done within a day and her refund on the way. I'm sad but I will no longer support this business. We pay 500-600 every year and last two years we had bad service . First off I want to say how we been coming here over 7 years with Mike K and we started to come here because he was a friend to my brother . After what I'm going thru now with the irs I'm completely done. Two years ago I somehow over paid the irs and was charged a fee so didn't get my whole refund from over paying which was annoying because I pay what Mike tells me to. This last tax season was horrible. I know it was the whole covid thing so we were understanding but Mike and this office was completely unprofessional. I always make my tax appointment 6 months ahead so I did that again and since we live an hr away ( and we continued coming here even though we moved to Oc 5 years ago because we liked Mike). We had a phone appointment this time bc of everything going on. So the day of our appointment which was confirmed with office , we got our 4 children situated so we would have an hr for our appointment with Mike. The hr passed , then two and three hrs.... Once ur got to 9pm we realized he wasn't calling . The next day I didn't get a call from the office to let us know what had happened . We didn't even get a courtesy call the day off to let us know he had skipped us for ppl that came in the office . I gave them until 12 to call me and let me know what had happened . I called to ask what had happened and the receptionist who is always kind apologized and told me she would leave mike a message on a note and give it to him . I NEVER got a call back and I called every day for a week. I spoke with his wife a month later and he finally txted my husband and stated he would "squeeze us in when he can", but we had an appointment scheduled a month prior !! So that was kind of messed up that he had to find time for us when we should of never been skipped.3 months went by and we finally got our phone appointment . It hurts that we are returning customers we're not a priority. Now fast forward 5 months later and we got a letter from irs stating that this time we under paid and owe 2k plus fees for not paying correct amount AGAIN ! I tried to get ahold of mike friday last week I called two different times and both times I was told by two different ppl he wasn't in the office yet but would be back and call me. So now it's Monday 6:30 pm and I was never called back friday or today. I wanted to call and ask him what the heck happened . We paid him $560 for terrible service and now we have fees and to pay the irs more money that we weren't prepared for . It is not fair that once again we have to pay big fees when we trusted him yet again to give us the right number to pay back . I think this company should pay us back for the fees because it's their fault not ours. Before coming here we have never ever had these issues with any other tax company. This is the worse experience ever and I will never go back and I will no longer refer ppl here like I always have . They need to stop trying to get more customers with all their ads in the papers if they can't even take care of the loyal customers that they have . read more

Don't do it!!! I made about $30,000 one upon a time and they charged me $450 to prepare my taxes. My taxes where extremely easy to do nothing fancy, but when I asked one of the brothers to help me print out a form for possible tax fraud because someone else claimed my children, he refused. There are so many free and affordable tax preparation sites for the exception of this year due to COVID. They are supposedly Christian based, I call BS on that. read more

Very unprofessional, I waited 2 months because my old manager and co workers were insisting I try this place out for my taxes and to use Mike. Im very disappointed in this place, we waited for 1.5 hrs & I finally walked out. After I walked out there was no apology, still no show, or a follow up call to apologize for ghosting us. After 15 years with Tax Comp, I am sad to see what Tax Comp has become since Jimmy's retirement. I had an appointment at 5pm on Saturday, it was confirmed twice on Friday and Mike Kamio ghosted me. I emailed after 5:30pm wondering if he was going to call me and still no response. I then sent two emails asking if my appointment was going to be rescheduled and still no response. As co-owner Mike Kamio should understand what drives His business and that's his customers. A month later and still no call back or correspondence from Mike. SO DISAPPOINTING!!!! I took my business to an actual CPA and he charged me slightly less than tax comps preparation fee. I'm glad this happened as I'll be saving cash annually on my preparation fee and I've upgraded at an actual CPA. Absolutely horrid service. I understand tax time is a busy time but to just never get back to your clients when they have major issues and concerns is insane. They also waaaay over charge. We paid just under 600 for a pretty simple and straightforward return. There was also a miscalculation that delayed our tax return weeks and was less than what was initially calculated. They need to take less appointments so they stop making mistakes and can actually respond to clients when they call promptly. We didn't get an answer until my husband actually went down to the office. We had an issue with our taxes being delayed as well when he forgot to add our direct deposit info. All of these mistakes and we were never once offered a discount or credit. Terrible customer service all around. read more

Mike Kamino has had my tax documents for over two months. He has not returned any of my calls. He has refused to file my taxes or communicate with me. I have used him for service for the last 3 years. This is the first time I have been treated with such disrespect. I can only assume he has a personal problem with me. Possibly he let my ex wife fill his ear with lies after filing her taxes. Sad because she murdered my dog of 18 years and then ran around talking trash after I left her. Disappointed Mike could not man up and ask me about it if he was going to let his professionalism be affected by personal lies about me. I have called 20 times in the last two months. I have asked for another preparer do my taxes. I was refused by the manager Joei. Most unprofessional group of people I have ever met. Honestly deserves even less than one star. Was recently turned on to TAX comp, heard good things and this being my first time using someone to file taxes for me I was hopeful and nervous at the same time that this would be easy and smooth. I was connected with Mike Kamio, had one conversation lasting a few minutes, and an email the next day exchanging the documents requested and necessary to file the taxes and was told he would update me in the coming days but was very busy, I understood and was happy to get things rolling. 3 days pass, no update, he's busy that's OK. 5 days, no update, shoot Mike a text, no reply, 6 days follow up with text again, no reply. 7 days sent an email, no reply. 8 day, called the office, receptionist "I'll take your number he said he'll call you today", NO CALL. Wait a day, 10 days, call the office again, apologetic, "Mike will call today" no call. 2 weeks after initial contact, called Mike's cell and left message, never a reply, never a call, never anything. Super lame customer service, super bummed I had to spend the time to get my taxes filed twice! Definitely won't be back, Definitely wouldn't recommend and tbh advising people to stay away from tax comp. Joke outfit read more
