Driving back to Bristol from Devon, you may spot an unusual orange elephant by the side of the road, with a sign saying 'Ice Cream Parlour, Next Left'. We followed the directions and found ourselves on a long dirt road that seemed to go on forever, but we finally made it to Taverners Farm and the much-anticipated Orange Elephant Ice Cream Parlour.
It's actually a nice place, with loads of room indoors for groups of people and screaming kids high on sugar. There are some seats outside for sunny days, and plenty of parking.
We thought there would be more choice of ice cream flavours, and were keen to try the 2014 award-winning salted caramel, but it was unavailable. Still, we went for two-scoop chocolate waffle cones (about £7) and enjoyed them. But this is no Marshfield Farm Ice Cream. read more
