It provides me with the opportunity to stock up on some great organic veg and meat as well as some great jams and local honey. The latter is an essential ingredient in every allergy suffers kitchen... eating honey that is grown locally can diminish the effects of hay-fever as well as a host of other allergies. The fact that the Farmers Market is in the car-park at Arthur John's is an absolute boon! Arthur John's is possibly the best hardware shop in the known universe, and I love visiting it, even if I don't have anything specific to buy. I always come out with a couple of items that I have been meaning to get, but always forget to purchase when I'm on a shopping mission elsewhere. If tools float your boat, this is a DIYers heaven! The prices are incredibly cheap considering the quality of the stock available. The Farmers Market isn't as cheap, but the quality of the goods is second to none! A huge variety of local food can be found here. Local meat (pork, chicken, beef, lamb, goat) , fish & shrimp, cheese (amazing); maple syrup, honey, seeds, squash, micro-greens, cabbages, fresh baked bread, local legumes, soap, eggs, fingerling potatoes, candy, coffee, and more. Live music too. To be expected the prices are high, but hey its local and high quality. One thing bad was that it was WAY too crowded. It was in the High School cafeteria. Could it be moved to the gym? Also by 11:00am many of the popular vendors was running out of items, like Eastmans fish (ran out of cod fish).

In fact, this is such a permanent and well loved fixture of the Cardiff local flavour, that even when the market is not in session, you'll find a series of fruit and vegetable sculptures in the same spot. These cross sections of cucumbers and apples can be looked through to see the grand Millennium Stadium beyond. If you're a fan of keeping your carbon footprint as small as possible, then this is the place for you. All of the products on sale here are very high quality and extremely local. This is a fantastic way to while away a Sunday afternoon. The only problem is that I'd like it to be larger with a better selection!

It was perfect for a lazy, sunny, Sunday. I have to admit I didn't end up buying much apart from bread and cakes, but they did have a huge selection of cheeses and deli style foods across the 30 odd stalls. It also has craft stores and flowers and really, really good coffee. This is probably not the place for people on a budget to do the weekly shop but a great place to pick up some really special ingredients and a fantastic way to spend an afternoon away from the city centre. I came here twice with my mother-in-law to pick up a few fresh items (strawberries), direct from the farmers. The hardest part is finding a parking spot. Lucky for me, my mother-in-law had a handicap sticker, which meant that we were able to park right at the market square. I'm not sure what you do if you can't park on the street. There has to be a parking lot somewhere, I just didn't need to figure that part out. If you are in the neighborhood, stop in and enjoy! I'll be back the next time I'm nearby.

It has something for everyone, I find there's slightly fewer stalls here but its equally as busy. As ever with farmers markets I buy more cheese than I can really eat and give lots away. Good fresh meat selection and beautiful bread too. Nice to have a place to sit down and have a cup of tea while you take in the atmosphere. Its is open pretty earlier but its not a bad way to start the weekend and you can buy everything you need for the best cooked breakfast on Sunday mornings!

Every Friday and Saturday, the Market Square in Totnes is a hive of activity. It's market days…read more Friday is definetly the better day to go - as it's busier. Fresh fish (£1.50 for 2 fillets of sole!), fresh fruit and veg, Spanish cooking, second hand clothes and furniture as well as craft stalls, there is something for everyone there. At the back, there is a type of table top sale with antiques, toys, clothes and furniture. The vendors are friendly and a lot of the food stalls have free samples - much to my children's delight! Don't be afraid of haggling. There are lots of bargains to be had.
