Pak was very helpful and let me know that he would be able to take care of me and make my vision come true and get me done in time to get back to my boat before "all aboard time". Artist was pleasant, and the work was very nice, but the price was waaaaaaay high. The piece I got was worth maybe $250 on the high end, tops...it only took 2 hours, was not super complicated, and was not color. Anywhere else, I think you're looking at $150-250. I say this from experience, I've been tattooed 12 times by some very talented artists. My bill at the end of the session? $500 + tax. I almost fell over. Again, nothing against the artist or the shop...the guy was chill, the work was good...but you will pay way higher prices for your ink here than you should. read more

I came here on 12/24 but they were booked for the day. I asked if they were open 12/26 in which I was told they were. I returned on 12/26 to get a tattoo I drew up on a napkin after a few drinks on the 24th. Kalani was my artist and he was able to take my napkin drawing and perfect it for me using procreate. *I did ask about cremains in the ink and he said they would do it this did not end up happening but that is ok. I'm a bit obsessed with pineapples and whenever I'm visiting Hawaii the urge to get a pineapple tattoo always crosses my mind. On this trip to the Big Island, a group of us got the itch together and dropped in on Valor around 5pm hoping maybe some of us could get their pieces done. Kalani was so accommodating and stayed until 11pm to finish all 4 people's tats! This is my third tattoo and my favorite, without a doubt. The detailing is incredible and Kalani's passion for his work is so evident in every stroke. I'm also struck by his amazing talent at his age! The shop it self was clean and i really enjoyed the vibe and the other artis i met were really nice and friendly. but I am horribly disappointed in the art I received. I went in for a consultation for finger tattoos with Nick. He informed me that with finger tattoo's he would have to go deeper "almost to blow out but,not to blow them out" so the lines would stay and not fall out through the years. He seemed very knowledgeable so I agreed. The placements are where I wanted and the designs looked solid and exactly what I wanted. For an hour and a half and all fingers for basic designs I was charged $400. I Was told because "fingers are harder to tattoo" I was fine with that because I was confident that the tattoos would reflect the price. Compared to the reference pictures i provided the lines seemed a bit on the thick side but didnt think much of it. 2 weeks after getting them done I started to notice scaring, and them becoming lumpy and not healing properly even though I was taking care of them religiously. I texted him and sent pictures and was told fingers take a month or more to heal and they are known to blow out ( i was not told either of these things at consultation) That they are still healing and they aren't scaring. I heard nothing back after that. After 2 months they finally healed. when I got them done the lines were alot thinner and they didnt seem over worked, but now Alot of the lines are chunky, wobbly , blurred, blown out, and I'm scarrd in places. I texted him again about how they healed and he told me to come in for touch ups to fix the problems. I am unsure how a touch up can fix blown out lines and scarring. Safe to say I will not be going back read more

It's remarkably unclear why Gerald decided to needlessly sabotage everyone, chiefly himself, when it came to scheduling with him. My partner and I were extremely excited to work with him in getting our first tattoos during a vacation to the island, but realized through his lack of communication and professionalism over Instagram messaging that Gerald is the last person anyone should get permanent work done from. I wouldn't even treat a stranger on the street the way Gerald treated us, let alone two individuals who are willing to pay hundreds of dollars to have my work (out of MILLIONS) tattooed on them. Gerald seems to think his artistic talent allows him immunity from exercising basic human decency and respect. If you're reading this Gerald, I sincerely hope you never make the mistake of calling your paying customers "retarded" (among other things) ever again. Unless you know everything about tattoos and the process of getting one (which he apparently expects you to because he will accuse you of "rubbing people the wrong way" if you request a basic mock up), go with a different artist who's capable of acting like a professional and treating you with basic respect. My partner and I messaged Gerald countless times and at best could get a "liked message" or a one-worded response after we paid our deposits, despite the fact that we were asking extremely important questions about his tattoo process (including requesting a mock up, which we didn't think to be unreasonable--but he did, claiming it was "beyond understanding"). If you want to feel good about your tattoo experience, go with an artist who won't leave your questions hanging until the MORNING OF (!!!!) your appointment. The process of communicating with Gerald was draining and unfulfilling to say the least. When we managed to address this with him in person (because he was incapable of explaining himself over text and made us come to the shop instead), his excuse for being uncommunicative was that he "gets messages from like 100 people a day". But we had ALREADY PAID our deposits WEEKS in advance, thus making us paying customers--his lack of ability to treat us like so was absolutely appalling. If you're going to spend anywhere up to $300 on a tattoo (especially if it's your first) don't give it to someone who belittles your entire experience and makes it clear that they're anything but a trustworthy or professional individual. I can't speak for the other artists but when it comes to Gerald, all in all, he definitely ensured that we would have the worst experience anyone can hope for when they're genuinely excited to get a tattoo. Good luck to anyone who decides to deal with this artist & I hope your experience isn't like mine or my partner's! read more

Kalani is my guy, dude did my tattoo within an hour without an appointment. The tattoo was in my arm; not too big or too small. Me and a group of my friends came in an hour before they close, and he was willing to take us all in for whatever tattoo we wanted with a smile on his face.
