We enjoyed our time here. I wish I could give half stars, but this place is more of a 5 vs 4. The prices are reasonable. I would get a reservation if you want to sit on the outdoor patio. Fish was fresh, and prepared very well, very tasty. Service was great.

Don't sleep on this place because it was our favourite restaurant of the whole trip! We came in January during off peak season so it wasn't as busy and we were the only customer there when we walked in. Almost walked out but boy were we glad we didn't!!! We got the abulon con su concha, mac n cheese, taco llanero, taco de langosta, chicharrón sonora, hamburguesa tatanka, bohemia oscura, pastel de zanahoria, leven alcalina y tostada caracol. It's hard to choose a fav because everything was so good but if we had to.. the abulon was my fav. So much flavour.. so slippery.. the right texture, so fresh. But bone marrow is a close second.. very close second. It was so so tender with so much flavour and melts in your mouth. You also wouldn't think to order the Mac n cheese but it's so different than the Kraft stuff you're used to. Trust me. It's a must try! Pricing is so decent too and it's great for a friend group or date night. Cute little outdoor area with their gatitos and beautiful view of the sky.. can't top it!!! Much better than resort food.

Amazing service, amazing food! Honestly it was the best restaurant i tried in La Paz. May not be the best location or interior design but totally worth it. Highly recommended!

Steak and grilled cheese with grilled bone marrow! Perfection!

Tatanka is a hidden gem that takes some persistence in finding especially at night. You have to go down an alley that does not look like the right place, but it is. It has a very creative atmosphere and you are immediately struck by the smell of grilled meat on the Mesquite charcoal cooking in the courtyard. The service staff are very kind and informative. One of the best things to enjoy. Is the steak and bone marrow taco which is the most amazing taco I've ever had in my life. The bone marrow is roasted on the charcoal grill to perfection. It's easily scooped out over the beef We also enjoyed the grilled prawns and substituted the potatoes with a large Parmesan over greens and tomatoes. A delightful dining experience .

This was our most disappointing meal in La Paz, and didn't hold a candle next to Nemi and Los Sabores 32. We had the oysters, chocolate clams and scallops appetizer - everything was drowning in sauce which shouldn't be necessary with fresh, high-quality seafood. The tuna tartar was also overly sauced. Rib eye was tough with a sad side of veggies, lobster taco was ok but way overpriced, the Chardonnay was served warm in a thick glass (which is what you expect at Applebees, not a supposed fine dining restaurant), and the Cabernet was served chilled to try to hide the fact that it was corked last week. Paper napkins and bright fluorescent lighting from the kitchen didn't do much for ambiance, and service was lacking (for example, no one bothered to explain what the random sauces on our table were). There are so many amazing restaurants in La Paz with better food and pricing. I get the sense this place used to be one of the best in town back in the day, but they haven't stepped it up with the new competition.

On a 6 day trip to La Paz we tried about a dozen of the best restaurant's in La Paz this was the best one. The food was of high quality, the tuna was similar to Hawaii's best. You can tell when tuna has just been chilled and not frozen and this just that. The almejas and oysters were delicious they top them with fresh ingredients. The service was that of a fine dining steak house. The waiters would stand about 5 steps away ready to be called upon if needed. They carried local micro brews and had good local wine selection. The decor of the place and simply the hidden location called for a great ambience. We were one of 3 tables being used the night we were there. They had swap coolers blasting nearby. They made our time pleasant.

Went on a Friday night around 6:30. We had never seen the place, and walking to it, you would have no idea it's there. You have to go into a parking/alley area, but once you see it, it's gorgeous. We did not have a reservation, so the hostess had to do some checking before seating us. She was able to get us seated within a few minutes; however, if we go back, we would make sure to get a reservation. There are tables all throughout a courtyard area - all spaced far apart for a more intimate feel. Our server came over quickly and welcomed us. He spoke pretty good English, which was helpful for our not great Spanish. I ordered a spicy margarita, which was good, but maybe needed a little more ice. For food, we had decided in a salad and the octopus, but wanted either clams or oysters. Of the 2 we had chosen, our server suggested the clams (almejas asadas). The salad came first, was a good size, and the dressing was a nice blend of a little sweet with good seasoning. It was a perfect size for splitting since we had other food. The clams came next, and WOW! I am so glad he suggested those. They were my favorite dish of the meal. They were a fusion of Asian and Latin flavors, and we drank all the sauce out after eating the clams because it was too good to leave behind. The clams were super flavorful and really big. Last was the octopus. It had a nice char to it and was very tender. It was also a good sizes portion. We loved the food, atmosphere, and service. We will definitely go back if we are in La Paz again. Loved that it was away from the Malecon and focused on showcasing the amazing food of the area with their own twists.

Great place to have dinner outside at the end of November. We ordered too much food (as usual) but everything was wonderful. Our server was amazing and very personable. We ordered oysters, tartare, sashimi, the burger, the chateaubriand, and the octopus. It was all fantastic! But I must say what blew us away was the Serrano Chili Oil. So delicious that we bought 12 jars to take home. FANTASTIC AMBIENCE, FOOD, SERVICE, & CHILI OIL..!

So my fiancé and I were looking to reach out beyond our usual eatery's and dined at Takanka tonight. First off, as someone mentioned, the location on the map was " off" from their actual location. Also, this restaurant was within walking distance from Marina Cortez. Once we found the place, sat down and ordered, several items on the menu were not available. We were 0-2 on our choice. We settled for the lobster Mac and cheese, which was excellent. Lots of lobster and the flavor was extraordinary. But my heart was set in the crab claws and my fiancé was in the tuna tartare. We both ordered the Takana burger, and they came out exactly the same but I ordered mine medium well with my fiancé ordering his medium. It really was a good burger but I like what I like. Overall, it was a nice experience, but for the price, we probably won't be back. My preference is to look at and review the good, and to give an honest review for other diners as they make dining choices. With that said, I'd your looking for upscale dining this odd not the place, but if you're looking for a good burger, give them a go.

Looking at old photos of the exterior, it's no wonder we've passed this place up every time we've driven through. It was around evening time when we noticed their business sign -bright and vivid. We were familiar with the restaurant in Cabo so we knew the seafood would be good. We had to stop by as we were too starve to wait. We were greeted, seated and given menus immediately. A complimentary tea cup size fish broth arrived at our table; it was bland, but hot. I ordered my usual mixto civeche as my partner with her usual clams. Our food and drinks arrived in no time. While she had no complaints, unfortunately, my ceviche was not what I had expected. I figured since I liked the Toro Guero in Cabo so much, La Paz location would not disappoint. My mixto ceviche was dry and was missing seasoning. It was missing a "kick." Nonetheless, I lemoned it up and finished the entire dish without issues. Like I said, I was hungry. We returned today before our flight back home to San Diego. I wanted to try something new. The shrimp burrito was ok. Not alot of shrimp, too mushy due to guacamole and the tortilla fell apart....to heavy and wet. I used a fork to finish the rest. Staff members are attentive. I would return again and maybe try sometime different
