Point Break Fish n Chips - Pluto pups and large chips

Hot chips and the beach are like bacon and eggs. They are meant to be together…read more After deliberating over the urgency of our hunger, my partner and I chose the large chips instead of the even larger family chips. Thank goodness, as we didn't end up finishing them. No skimping. The box was full and would easily feed two less gluttonous adults and a child. We also ordered a Pluto pup each, a container of sauce and one Coke for a total of less than $20. The food is deep fried in rice bran oil. I'm no expert on differing health benefits of oils but the chips and pups seemed less greasy than usual. Chicken salt was abundant almost to the point of too much but last chips I had elsewhere had none so this makes up for it. The man that served me was a little peculiar and would not make eye contact whilst we spoke. That was awkward but otherwise a great take away shop.

A joke! I walked in…read moreand asked what might be a good deal for two adults and two children. She said the $42 for four fish - seeing as how it worked out 'roughly' (her words not mine) to $10.50 each. I thought that was a bit too much for us so I asked: "what it would cost for two fish and......." And she cut me off with: "We DONT alter the menu" To which I replied with: "No I am actually just wondering what it would cost for two pieces of fish" She didn't answer me, rather she simply pointed behind her to the menu on the chalk board. I subsequently asked for two pieces of fish (which came with chips). I also asked how big was the serving of chips that we get with the fish, to which she replied: "Well I don't know, probably half a small serving". It was at this point that I said forget about it and walked outside looking for another fish and chip shop. Stay clear of them. They are overpriced and overrated. Go to BAZZAS up the street instead. Beautiful service beautiful food and it turned out I certainly wasn't the first person to walk away from Point Break feeling very angry.

Possibly my favourite place in the world! There is a great…read moreatmosphere in Fiddlers no matter what time of day or night it is. It's a rarity to find a pub or bar in the hustle and bustle of Surfers Paradise where the staff actually enjoy working there. It definitely makes a difference to the venue's vibe! The bar staff also enjoy a good chat and a bit of banter across the bar and this is one of the few Irish pubs in Surfers that actually employees Irish people! Not only adding to the atmosphere, but it means there are staff who can actually pour a good pint of Guinness! There is live music most nights of the week from 9pm, with a band on every Friday and Saturday night. True to their roots there is also traditional Irish entertainment there every Sunday afternoon. In terms of food it has a great range of pub style food at great prices. I've found the food to always be amazing, even the specials (usually $10-15) are spot on! You definitely can't go past the $10 steaks that they do for lunch and dinner! One of the main things that I LOVE about the food here is that they stick to what they're good at; good quality pub-style food at a reasonable price! This is a great pub that caters for everyone, from families, to older couples and young 20-somethings looking for a good night out, there is something for everyone in Fiddlers. This is a true testament to the hard work and dedication of the owners and management! See you there!

Drink prices are higher than your average Irish bar, but are pretty standard for the area. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. I would come back again, especially to check out the night scene.
