Taqueria El Chacho - Al pastor and suadero tacos. Glad to check this off my list, but won't be coming back. Meat lacks flavor

It's located at a Target plaza and doesn't "open" till 6pm though the staff would be setting up before then. The meat portions aren't the most generous but they are the tastiest. I enjoyed being able to see them cook the various meat fresh and right in front of me during the set up. The tacos are a bit on the expensive side at $4 per piece but it is a treat. The orange sauce is super spicy so I usually go with the avocado sauce, pico de gallo and the red sauce. My go to order is usually 4-5 tacos depending how hungry I am with my go to meat being the al pastor, asada, pollo and leunga. It is one of the few places where there isn't an additional upcharge for lengua and the pollo doesn't need to be drenched in sauce to keep moist. The star of the show is the al pastor and it pairs very well with the pineapple bit.

They have a nice variety of food options but so far we are hooked on chicken tacos. They are $4/taco which to some people might seem like a lot. However, im still willing to pay this amount of money because they are that good. I tried tacos from a restaurant with Michellin star and they were actually not as good. They have salsas, cilantro, chopped onion, limes and other goodies to go with the tacos. Give them a try!

I came here for the 4 for $11 taco deal and it did not disappoint!…read more It does get pretty loud inside, so I had a little trouble communicating my order at the counter. The guy who took my order was super sweet and patient! I went with 2 chicken asada and 2 carnitas. Chicken asada was easily my favorite. You see the workers chopping and cooking the food right in front of you. Carnitas were a little on the dry side, but I still enjoyed them. The volcano salsa is an absolute MUST when you come here. Nice kick and really elevated the tacos overall. They also give you a complimentary plate of chips, but I am not sure if they're unlimited or one plate per order. I'm shocked at the number of bad reviews because my experience was the complete opposite. Will definitely be coming back!

Unfortunately, we ended up waiting an hour and 45 minutes for our food. The issue was not with the app or the delivery driver -- it was with Pancho Villa. After waiting approximately 50 minutes, I wanted to cancel the order, but I was informed that if I canceled, Pancho Villa would not refund my money. At that point, I would have had to forfeit nearly $70 that I had already spent. In this economy, who can afford to lose almost $70 and still not receive their food? My driver was incredibly kind and helpful. He connected me with Pancho Villa because they were not answering their phone. We were told that they were short-staffed because three employees had called out sick. I completely understand that unexpected staffing issues happen, However, if a restaurant knows that they are short-staffed and cannot fulfill orders in a reasonable amount of time, they should not continue accepting third-party delivery orders. Customers should not be left waiting for nearly two hours with no reasonable option to cancel and receive a refund. We were left hungry, frustrated, and feeling like our money was essentially being held hostage because canceling the order meant losing our $70. I hope Pancho Villa will take this as an opportunity to reconsider how they handle third-party orders when they are understaffed. Customers deserve transparency, reasonable wait times, and, most importantly, a fair option to receive a refund when a restaurant is unable to fulfill an order within the promised timeframe.

Tacos don't get much better than this! Two others and I decided to embark on a taco trot through downtown San Mateo's taquerias to uncover the pinnacle of street taco perfection. We only judged the tacos and not any other amenities of the taqueria. We ventured from one taqueria to the next, leaving no stone unturned to find the ultimate street-style taco. Each of us had a distinct mission: one to evaluate carne asada, myself al pastor, and the third pollo tacos. Our rating system spanned meat, salsa, tortilla, overall quality, and value. We sampled our way through all nine downtown taquerias (excluding food trucks, grocery stores, and pupuserias). After tallying the scores, we reached a unanimous consensus on the top four contenders. These taquerias stood out for their commitment to delivering unparalleled street tacos. These are the only places in downtown to which we'd return: Charlie's, Los Primos #1, Al Vapor Nueva Italia, and Pancho Villa.

The carne asada has a delicious, crispy sear that adds great texture, and the taco tortillas are nicely toasted on the outside. Top it off with fresh, balanced salsas and very friendly service--we'll definitely be back again.
