Carne Asada Quesadilla

I pass by Tastemakers Food Hall all the time. Today...I stopped in to see what they're hittin on. It's a Salvadoran eatery in there, it's Tuesday, so I figured, why not. Let's Go!! . Where I am: @jaddiscatering @thetastemakersdc . Location Reviewed: 2800 10th St., N.E. . Menu Includes: Tacos, Quesadillas, Burritos, Bowls, Pupusa's, Salads, Sandwiches, Rice, Beans, Chips, Guac, Pico de Gallo, Sour Cream, Salsas, Horchata, & Beverages. . Items Reviewed: Their Tortilla Chips & Salsa (with Pico de Gallo, Verde salsa, & sour cream $5.50). DECENT. They tasted like they were store bought. The salsa verde STAMP!! Fresh, mildly spiced!! . Their Chicharron & Pollo Pupusa's (with cheese, pickled cabbage & hot sauce $3.50 each). DELICIOUS!! Meaty, cheesy, ok. Their Chicken Tacos (3 tacos on flour tortillas, with cucumbers, onions, cilantro, Pico, & salsa Verde $12). DELICIOUS!! With a dollop of that salsa, it made these tacos good!! Their Carnitas Tacos (3 tacos on corn tortillas with Pico, onions, cilantro, & salsa Verde $12). DECENT. Edible, but lacking flavor. Their Carne Asada Quesadilla (with a cheddar cheese blend, sour cream, Pico, & lettuce $12). DELICIOUS! Plenty of protein, & cheese, but again no flavor. Their Horchata ($5). STAMP!! Refreshing, fresh, & tasty. Their Cola Champagne ($2.50). STAMP!! Always DELICIOUS!! . Customer Service: On Point!! . Online Navigation: Fairly Easy . Parking: Decent . Recommendations: The Horchata & Salsa 5 Stars=STAMP 4 1/2 Stars+=LIKE THAT 4 Stars=DELICIOUS 3 Stars=DECENT 2 Stars=PASS 1 Star=NAH #Bigschlimsreviews

4 Revueltas Pupusas

We wandered in here on a Wednesday just after noon. The pastry location looked open but no one was at the counter and bullfrog bagels looked closed. We were excited to find an El Salvadoran place inside. We're big pupusa fans and try them everywhere we go! We ordered 4 Revueltas (meat, black beans, and cheese). They were excellent! Made to order so they were very fresh, there was not more breading than filling (which is a common complaint I've found). The sauce complimented the pupusas well and we enjoyed every bite! 5 STAR PUPUSAS- just think it's important to note there weren't many options to shop from.

A local "food court" type setup with not very many stalls. Had a meetup.com event here which was fun. It's always nice to connect with fellow foodies. There were only five of us there but we had fun sharing recommendations, stories and worthwhile restaurants around the area. Taqueria del Barrio and Captain Cookie were the only two businesses staffed so we patronized those. I'd eaten at the Taqueria's full service restaurant in Petworth before during a previous Yelp event so it was nice to reconnect with her food. The Jamaican spot and the bagel spot were closed, unfortunately. I imagine this food hall venue to be a worthwhile addition to the neighborhood, but I think they need more businesses inside (or consistent ones) to really make this place a valued destination. Glad I go to try Captain Cookie if nothing else. I see those food trucks around the city. Cookies were good. I still prefer Mrs Fields though. I got lots of Yelp bookmarks added courtesy of my new Meetup buds. 3 stars. It was a'ight.

I have never placed a to go order during a pandemic. It was surreal. I like restaurants, events, tastings and being social. I placed an order on the web site. My confirmation email gave instructions on how to proceed. When we arrived at the building, I sent a text that I had arrived. My description was "Black car, two red bandanas." The employee brought my to go bag out. He offered to put the bag in the trunk. The order was a DIY kit for a Yelp event. Everything was neatly wrapped. My initials were on each plastic spice container. Even the name of each item was labeled. The instructors explained how to prepare the Hawaiian ball. I hope when the world opens back up, we can visit here in person.

It's an indoor market!

On the outside, Tastemakers feels like a miniature Union Market. On the inside, it's a food hall with a mission. It's goal is to provide a state of the art commercial kitchen for food start ups in Washington, D.C. to use to launch their businesses. Located in Brookland, it's one of the food destinations in NE DC and only a 10 minute drive from fun NW neighborhoods like Shaw. It's a large building housing a handful of stands. There's bagels at Bullfrog, ice cream at Captain Cookie, meatballs at Balls. There's a coffee shop, a bar in the back, and a few other businesses. There are plenty of seats (with Trivia Pursuit cards on them for conversation starters). If it's nice outside, there's a lawn in the front. If you want a new, unique food experience in DC, head up to Brookland.

I am so bummed! I was hoping this could be a new go-to in our neighborhood, but it's a bit of a let down. I was initially happy to hear from the owner that they were going to fix the stroller/ wheel chair unfriendly entrance, but they still haven't! That aside, the vendors were not really looking to have people order from them, very disappointing. There also wasn't much of a selection for for dinner, just the meatball place, the cheesesteak place and the taco place. I was sad to see the vegan "healthy" spot is gone. The concept is so great, but so far the execution seems off!

I thought this was a great location and an awesome experience. They have several local eateries and food trucks that cook and prep food here. You can also purchase from at least 3-5 different restaurants from this spot. I wanted cookies this day so I got cookies from Mr cookie. Everything's as excellent.

Cool mini food hall! Our burgers were incredible, and the bar was having happy hour - what more can you ask for! (We also saw some tacos that were colorful and bright, so I'm excited to try those next time). I wish more people knew about this place - it might help expand their hours. A few places were closed that I was interested in trying.

Tastemakers is a food ball right down the block from Right Proper. It has bullfrog bagels, The Milkman and Captain Cookies, and Ball or Nothing (plus others) so it's great for groups who want different kinds of food. The ball sells beer, has WiFi, and is easy to park at. Check it out!

From OMG Latin. Guacamole bowl. $7. Generous portion. Made to order.

We have a 10 month old baby and we're looking for some place quick, easy, tasty, and close. This fit the bill perfectly. We went for an early dinner (5:30pm) and it was quiet. By the time we left there were a bit more people. Everyone was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The oxtail and plantains from the Jamaican Jerk place were amazing and generous portions. The guacamole from the OMG Latin place was very good and made to order. The cocktails were very good (although pricey at $12/each) and the bartender was so friendly and no one minded our baby one bit. We got cookies to go too. Knocked it down a star only because i think the vendors could put a little more effort into their displays to make it a bit easier to tell who's open, what the options are, etc. but we will definitely be back.

I love the ability to grab a little bit of everything. Most of the venders are also the owners so they're pretty darn invested

Overall, a plate is very filling and you could definitely share it if you're not ravenous (or want to save room for Captain Cookie).

I talked to Eric and he was fantastic! He was able to get his team in quickly, the work was performed far beyond anything I'd expected, and both he and his on-site foreman were very responsive. We had two challenges, both of which Eric and his team overcame with speed, quality delivery, and excellent customer service. We were working on a tight timetable, so I was receiving store fixtures while construction was ongoing. Eric and his team were able to work around this without any problems. Second, my initial flooring choice became unavailable between the time I selected it and ordering. When this happened, Eric and I went down to Home Depot together and found another option that looked better, was higher quality, and cost less. I cannot recommend Eric and A&E construction enough! 100% would use again. In fact, I have some upcoming work that I need to do on my home. I bid this job to five other companies, but I'll just be reaching out to Eric directly on that one.
