We did the indoor skywalk tour in St. Paul. It was very informative and lasted about 3 hours 10 min. Our tour guide Kim was very friendly and informative. There were 5 stops on the tour. We we're told the outdoor tour was the same stops you just walk outside in between. This was very good to know for the future! I'd definitely consider doing their downtown Minneapolis tour. My favorite stop was Afro. The dishes were very unique and tasty! We also sampled beer, cheese curds, chocolate, popcorn, chicken skewers, gyoza, and cucumber rolls. I don't drink beer but they provided a root beer and a ginger beer that were pretty tasty. I appreciated the substitutes. read more

We went as a group; it was advertised as an activity at a conference we were attending. It was almost $50 to participate. The website listed 5 stops, and we only went to three. The website listed gourmet food, and at two of the stops I had chips and salsa/guacamole, not "local specialties." We got two tiny samples of beer, when it was advertised as a beer tasting tour. It felt like a waste of money, and I think it was false advertising based on the website. Our tour guide was nice and polite, and he seemed to have good knowledge of the city. It just seemed like it wasn't what we paid for. I wouldn't recommend it. read more

My husband and i attended the Wine and Chocolate Tour, and we both felt it was over priced and a complete waste of our time. Based on the description, we expected to learn about the pairing of wine and different types of chocolate. The wine tasting was only offered at 2 of the 5 locations and one location was an empty bakery where we were served stale cookie bits, no wine and no chocolate to be seen. There was a little walking but lots of breaks to make it enjoyable. We learned so much about the mill area that we had no idea about. Waste of money!! I just went today, the tour was an hour shorter than the website said, wasn't put together well... I could of went to all the places myself for less than the $130 plus fees and tax... I went to the Wine and Chocolate tasting... Most of it was boring, one place didn't even talk to us, another place the owner wasn't there to speak to us and left it up to other people... Overall a bad experience.... I wouldn't recommend anyone to waste their time or money.... The website also said you'd leave with a box of chocolate.. That didn't happen... One couple didn't even get back on the bus at the end to be brought back to our cars.... There was only 2 glasses of wine that weren't even half full.... read more

We booked a private tour with Taste Twin Cities around the skyways of downtown Minneapolis for our office holiday party. They were great to work with and helped customize the tour to include a brewery tour and beer tasting at Rock Bottom Brewery. Even though we were all from Minneapolis our tour guide, Kevin, amazed us with facts about the city. All of the food and beverages at the stops were delicious. It was a good tour, there was a variety of places we went in the Skyways. It was fun to see places that are in the skyways, but I would have liked it to be a bit more tour-y. I love learning little facts about places (Like when it was originally built or that thing was an accident or there was some historical significance to the way the road winds.) Good food, I was surprised that the people at the restaurants didn't stop and promote themselves more too. I mean you have us there, get us back! Overall the food was good, beer was only at one venue (right away at 11am at Rock Bottom, MORNIN!). Overall it as fun, but I'd probably try for more unique places and a more touristy style tour next time. read more

We had a great time on the Heart of Minneapolis Tour! Betsy was a great tour guide and made the day really fun. Even though we live in the Minneapolis area and had been to a few of the places on the tour, it provided us with an insider's look. They did a good job of keeping to locally influenced locations and providing explanations and history. I can't wait to try more of the tours out! I was excited to do a wine and chocolate tasting for a Bachelorette Party I am hosting. After sending in a request for more information on pricing and availability, I received an email from someone named Rebecca. Since Valentines day was around the corner said she would get back to me in about a week after the holiday weekend with pricing details. After not hearing back from her the entire week after Valentines day, I emailed her asking for an update on my request. No response. I sent another email, still no response. I called the phone number in her email signature and left a voicemail, and still no response. Finally I got an email from Rebecca saying she would get me something that day. 3 weeks later, I have yet to hear back from her. This month and a half process just to get pricing details with no final quote ever provided was very frustrating. We were all very excited about the possibility of doing a tasting with them, but were forces to look into other options due to the complete lack of communication from the company. If this is how they treat prospective customers, I would hate to find out how they treat actual customers. read more

I went on a tour on Saturday, April 20 with one of my friends. We met our very energetic tour guide, Betsy, at the LaSalle Plaza to wait for the others on our tour. It was a small tour- 4 people total- which was great because Betsy said her biggest tour has been up to 16 people. It was nice to be in a smaller group because we were able to connect better with the other people and our tour guide. We made three stops- two savory, two sweet and one beer tasting. It was a rainy day so Betsy gave us the choice of a skyway tour or walking outside but we chose to stay outside- it gave us a better view of the city. And its good we did because on our tour, we saw a Timberwolves player as well as the Counting Crows! It just goes to show that you never know who you may run into while walking around downtown Minneapolis. I live in a Minneapolis suburb but learned some fun new facts about the city. All in all, it was a great 3 hour tour of a few places I'd been before and a few places I hadn't. I think the best part was our tour guide Betsy. She was really funny and nice and when we got to the Mary Tyler Moore statue on Nicollet Ave, she sang us the theme song of the Mary Tyler Moore Show with absolutely no embarrassment or joking- she seriously wanted us to hear it. I would gladly take the exact same tour with Betsy because I know it would be as fun and amusing as the first. I highly recommend this tour for anyone, whether you live in the Twin Cities or you're just visiting. read more

Was in Minneapolis for a business meeting and we had an evening activity where Taste Twin Cities took us on a tour downtown and to 4 different places. Andrea was our tour guide and she was WONDERFUL! Delightful details and delicious food. I wish I lived here so I could take more tours! read more

Perhaps it was because it was the first "Slice of Minneapolis" tour of this season, but the overall experience was disappointing. Pros: Guide Michelle was friendly; the bus driver played a fun song; the pizza stops are iconic. Perhaps best of all, we met visitors to the Twin Cities (one couple from Sweden; another from Illinois). Cons: Guide Michelle had never previously visited the locations and was unaware of details such as when we needed to self-serve plates and utensils; the majority of her guiding consisted of reading snippets from a data sheet and she didn't know anything more about where we were visiting than you can find on their websites; Football Pizza wasn't ready for us. At least one person in each of the three parties in the tour were vegetarians and four out of five pizza flavors included beef and/or pork (two locations: "Meat Lovers"). The first stop (Black Sheep Pizza) was excellent with a single pizza divided in half allowing us flavor options of two of their top sellers. Pizza Luce also did a nice job, but it would have been nice to have sampled their "gourmet" toppings. The last two stops (Football Pizza and Red's Savoy Pizza) are fine conceptually, but in order to justify the steep price ($65 for four slices of pizza) should consider splitting the pizza in half to offer more flavor choices. While we were informed at the start of the tour that all beverages other than water were at our own expense, there was no explanation of which spots offered which drinks. For example, cocktails were only available at the first and final stops. We were rushed out of the last place after guzzling down the $15 each cocktails. Suggestions: To attract foodies, consider ordering all pizzas as half and half to maximize the sampling. Include at least two more exotic pizza flavors. Better inform guests at the start of the tour that if you are interested in a cocktail to order them either at the first or last stop. Perhaps even have a drinks menu that guests could peruse as you travel from place to place. I was motivated to participate in this tour because in the past I had greatly enjoyed the Taste of Minneapolis tour. I continue to highly recommend that. The Slice of Minneapolis tour needs some improvement. read more

I had higher expectations. We went on the Downtown Minneapolis Skyway Tour. I was disappointed by the restaurant selections. We went to a chain restaurant, a hotel, a candy store, and an over sized and crowded restaurant. On food tours in other cities, we've experienced local, historic restaurants with incredible food. I had hoped for something similar from Minneapolis. I was also disappointed when the guide began reading off the script. read more

Worst food tour I have ever been on and a real shame to the city of Minneapolis. In a city with such amazing local and organic foods, and a wealth of James Beard awarded chefs as well as amazing food trucks and local neighborhood food plus micro breweries in the Northeast, this tour manages to literally make us walk past one of the city's famous local Saturday markets (with food stands) so that we can go to The Spaghetti Factory!?! Because "good food is the kind that is made for you instead of prepackaged". Geez, by that definition Subway is "good food". Not only is Spaghetti Factory a disgusting chain of calorie-infused "pasta", it's actually founded in Portland/Seattle! There's nothing MPLS about it! Our other stop was Sawatdee -- one of the worst rated Thai restaurants in town and literally a block away from way better Thai food! On the way to Matty's for "beer", another bland chain type restaurant we just gave up (again why not go to Matt's next door which is at least respectable). Having been to other food tours in other cities, and especially given MPLS' amazing food scene, this is literally the worst food tour on the planet. read more
