Good place to eat very clean and wonderful buffet. Reasonably priced. Nice variety of foods especially when they serve frog legs.

Food was extremely sub part. I recently moved to Durant and have driven buy this place a few times and there has never been anyone there. I drove by today and there were a few cars in the parking lot so I stopped in. Not a single item on their buffet was what I would call good. The food is good but the service isnt so great. We went to have a late lunch today and there today. I had to remind the hostess to get our drinks after she stood at the register and watched us eat without them. Her excuse was she is training someone. Amazing fresh food and it's always tended to and never let sitting even if your the only one in the entire restaurant. There are so many choices of food, and everyone of them are so good! I highly recommend this place. They also give God out to fire, police and EMS! Really friendly staff and good customer service in addition to FANTASTIC prices! read more

We had an amazing trip, and it was so welcoming! It was so quiet I didn't even notice when it was dinner rush everyone was so polite and nice. The food was pretty good as well! I'm allergic to coconut so I was a bit afraid to try some of the deserts but my daughter thoroughly enjoyed herself! The end of the night was the real treat. A lady had been sat and a server had brought her the ticket, as she had done to us as well. I thought nothing of it and paid it so it would be out of the way when it came to the table. The lady threw a fit, telling her what horrible customer service it was to bring someone their check. The waitress I could tell was uncomfortable but still, she smiled and apologized. The staff handled it very professionally and didn't escalate the situation further. I felt bad for her family that had to endure her nasty behavior, but we will be back again! This is one of the few Chinese restaurants in Durant, but the food is always fresh and quite tasty. Typical Chinese buffet fare is offered. Updated to include recommended dishes: crab Rangoon, chicken on a stick, rice noodles, and a really good baked, stuffed shrimp. Unfortunately there are no hours operation posted on the door, but we made a gamble that they opened at 11am. There is, though, a note on the door which sort of says they are closed Saturdays. The service is excellent and my tea glass was never empty. There are no TVs and pleasant music is playing. Overall a good experience and was as expected. read more

Just left this restaurant. First time and last time. Not hip on the fake fried rice. It's steamed with the vegetables and a little soy sauce added for color. The only thing that was half way decent were the egg rolls and they are more like spring rolls. Which was fine. I ate the broccoli chicken, "fried rice", spicy chicken, egg roll and had egg drop soup with tea. Not very good but I did eat it as I hadn't eaten all day. (I'm sure I'll pay later). The food is solid BUT the last few times my family has visited the facility needs some serious maintenance/CLEANING. The bathrooms need a little money put into them... they look like they belong more in a gas station in a ruff neighborhood. The worse part is the carpet in the main seating area.... Obviously this is a buffet so kids will be there, and stuff will be dropped, BUT is a carpet shampooing every now and then too much to ask!? It's a family tradition that the day we come home from camping, we stop for lunch at a Asian-type buffet place, which is how I found myself covered in three days of gross, wearing hiking socks with flip-flops and across the street at a gas station, calling Taste Island to ensure that they serve some sort of asian food. The sign itself looks Asian, but they're also called "Taste Island"...which really meant nothing to me. Answer? Yes, they do. Sort of. This place is your typical Chinese buffet joint, with weird table arrangement, children on the loose everywhere you look and a lovely old man at the front desk to tell the hostess to get back to work. We went on a Monday afternoon around 1, and there were still quite a few groups still there for lunch (of course it is across from a casino, so that might be why). The food offerings were typical -- sweet and sour chicken, fried donuts, egg drop soup, soft-serve ice cream, crab legs and more. Honestly? Crab legs were the best part of the meal, and they really weren't that great. The food was edible, but not one dish was delicious, which kept each of the members of our party from going back for seconds. This probably is the best that Durant, OK has to offer for Asian cuisine, but then again that's probably because it's Durant, OK. read more

Horrible and cheaply strung together buffet. I would actually give it "0" Stars, but unfortunately Yelp makes me give it at least one. I think the most horrendous thing was the stuffed shrimp which appeared and tasted like a piece of chicken with a piece of shrimp between it. Didn't go back for seconds and it's a buffet. Best chinese in this area. Better than any around. Great taste no matter time of day. Butter shrimp and the chicken with black pepper and jalapeños are both great. Homemade egg roll and not frozen. Quick and friendly service. Clientele is a bit sketchy at times though. read more

Taste Island is decent. There aren't very many entrees, especially for a buffet, but they have all of your basics(egg rolls, rangoons, sweet n sour, ect). If you go at dinner time, they have crab legs...yay! I would recommend going only when they're busy, especially if you plan on eating crab legs, as they don't seem to pull food very often, and it's only good when its fairly fresh! If your in Durant, want Asian food and lots of it Taste Island is your place. read more
