It does perhaps not match the best in the Nordics, UK and the US but they are doing a fine job serving coffee. They change the roast at regular intervals so even when coming here pretty frequently I do not tire. Very friendly service and they are happy to chat about coffee and other things so I really like the place. I have actually never sampled any of the food or other drinks but a few colleagues have sampled some of the fresh juices offered and were very pleased. My main reason to go is however the coffee. If I could wish for any improvements it would be longer opening hours as I often struggle to get here before they close (and have already been working for a while when they open). Thursdays are the exception when they are open late. Would also be great if they added a brew bar but from what I understand the interest is limited.

KoffieTentje is a very cute, small and stylish coffee bar. There's a very calm and laid back atmosphere making it perfect to sit in and unwind while enjoying your coffee (and perhaps a piece of brownie? Trust me, their brownies are amazing.) While ordering my coffee, I've chatted with the owner a few times and to simply put it, she's incredibly nice and welcoming. She doesn't mind having a little chat and seems genuinely interested. Though I'd never say that Dutch coffee is bad, I'd maybe say that sometimes it can lack a full flavour. So to say that in the first month since opening I've darkened KoffieTenTje's door nearly a dozen times, I'm very impressed with their coffee. The interior is friendly, earthly and modern, and the music is always good (a mix of chilled electronica and folk). The vibe very much reminds me of a less busy Five Elephants (Berlin-based coffee heaven). Lastly I have to say something about the woman who owns it; basically she's lovely. Welcoming, happy, remembers you and your order. I've chatted with her a few times, sometimes in Dutch, more often in English and she's always chatty. They do have seats at high tables and a high counter so not optimal to work at but there is free wifi and a few plugs to charge computer and:or phone. When I tried Batista Cafe earlier on today I was quite excited. It has a different look and feel to the interior, outdoor seating right on the Grote Markt, and what looked to be plenty of staff. The real issue here is two fold: Plenty of staff appears to translate into plenty of chaos rather than plenty of service. We waited nearly 10 minutes to have our order taken then another 12 for the coffees to arrive. Secondly, the coffee is terrible. It doesn't seem to be the preparation of the drinks themselves, more that the coffee is burned in the roast, to the point of being nearly undrinkably bitter. I never take sugar in my coffee but the only way to be able to get mine down was to dump a whole stick of it in. They get some points for decor and the nice little shortbreads they include with the drinks, but if you're on the lookout for somewhere to drunk an unsweetened coffee I'd look elsewhere.

Great coffee, delicious lunch menu and all prepared at their open bar and kitchen. They have nothing to hide. Everything is done to perfection. When I talk to their barista, you can see how passionate and educated he is. I've been here once over a year ago and I couldn't forget how excellent this place was. And they have maintained their coffee house immaculately. The decor is very chic yet comfortable. Lots of space and daylight. Friendly and knowledgeable service.
