Kind of a mixed bag for me. Tassot Creole is a small fast food place tucked within a busy strip mall. Greeting coming in was cold with already a few people already waiting for their food and the staff seemed overwhelmed. Anyways, it's lunchtime and I wanted my Griot! TAKE MY MONEY AND GIVE ME MY FOOD.
Their lunch special comes in a combo but I wanted to upgrade to a Fruit Champagne drink and apparently that's not a thing? Uh huh. I just went with the plate. Less money for you I guess.
Griot plate consists of Griot (fried pork), Riz Collee (haitian styled rice), fried plantain and a small (very!) gravy sauce and picklies (spicy sauce). Griot was good albeit a smaller than ideal portion. Lunch special. Riz collee was just OK, lacked seasoning and a bit dry? How? It's lunch time. Plantain was undercooked (raw inside). The gravy sauce was also small (smallest I ever had and I had my fair share of this plate). Picklies was perfectly fine.
Pricing is about average. There was way more rice than griot as per the norm I've experienced elsewhere. Gravy sauce was too small. Plantain was a miss for me. Overall the value is a little low for me and the competition really does it better. I'd come back in a bind and give them a second chance but I'd rather drive a little further to get the good stuff. read more
