Dr. Chan was certainly compassionate and caring and understanding and I am certainly grateful for that! As for his office manager, Michele, she is by far the worst to deal with and sadly there is no other way to deal directly with Dr. Chan except when you have an appointment with him. For this very reason, I am deciding that it's time to just find another doctor altogether. I sure wish I had just learned my lesson originally and found another doctor much sooner. Oh well.

He has been very good with in office visits, taking care of specialty sports physicals and referrals to specialists. His office has the capability to handle labs in house which is super convenient. He saw me for chronic pain & when focusing on nerve pain prescribed Cymbalta saying he takes 2 every morning himself for back pain. Red flags piled up in the few appointments we had with him between Sept-Dec 2020 & then the bill arrived & was coded for a mental health visit for just me, the one who was given an anxiety med for nerve pain. We called the office & his staff even felt like this was an error & assured us it would be taken care of & Dr. Swoager would call us back. Instead the front desk called us with a statement saying the DR believed I was depressed. We never once discussed this in the office ever & I had family there with me every time. Misdiagnosing someone is serious and stealing money is also a crime. I have PTSD but never discussed this with the DR because I was seeing him for pain. I vaguely mentioned some of the conditions I had previous diagnosis for but continued seeking help & an MRI for pain & a tumor I have, not anything else & that was clear. Dr Swoager took full advantage of me and my family, our health, & finances. Medical care isn't cheap which is why most have to pick & choose what they can afford to be seen for within that year  & Dr. Swoager took that right away from us. The 3 people in my family (self included) needed medical care and paid with time & money & still need to be seen to this day for the issues we saw Dr. Swoager for starting in September of last year and we are just now receiving more bills being charged at the higher mental health rate, not all, just some & no explanation for why other than a false diagnosis from a doctor who never discussed my mental state with me ever.

The office sent me all he papers to fill out ahead of time and i took 20 minutes to do that. On the day of my 10:15 am appointment I arrived at 10 am as they told me to come 15 minutes ahead of time. I walked in and no one greeted me. There was a staffer behind the window but she never said a word to me. I stood there for a minute but it didn't look like I was going to be told what to do. So I sat in one of their chairs in the waiting room. And I sat. After 49 minutes ( I timed it) someone came out and asked me my name. She had a mask on! I'm hard of hearing and I asked her to repeat the questions and she pulled down the mask. She said they would be with me shortly. I walked over to the staffer at the counter and said, "I'm Tom *******. I don't think this is the place for me. I'm leaving." When I got home there was a message on my landline. After reading some of the negative reviews, I feel compelled to say this: people need to be patient. You don't know what another patient may be dealing with, and personally, I don't want a doctor who rushes through appointments. Deana the office manager called because when she ran the insurance in their system it was showing our insurance was in a grace period. She flat out said I have to cancel your appointment. My husband said could you please let me call the insurance company to verify. She was insistent that their system shows that we are in a grace period and she had to cancel. He offered to pay out of pocket. She said no because you have insurance. Well in their system we don't, so what's the difference who pays?! Dr. Canton, Deana is condescending and extremely rude to your patients. She is not putting your patients wellbeing in mind. We will not be returning after being so treated so badly.
