Came here with a bus load for lunch. Delicious Southern buffet served with an awesome array of choices. So hard to choose a dessert as there were plenty to select. Coffee is also provided. Service was indeed fantastic. A must place to eat when visiting this quaint little Georgia town.

Foggy morning at the Tarrer on the town square!

What a gem! Took a chance on this place and we were not disappointed! Very friendly and helpful…read morestaff, Lady of the House is an absolute sweetheart! Rooms clean and very comfortable- very nostalgic decor.. like stepping back into history

Let me start by saying I'm a perfectionist, so these issues may not be something that everyone even…read morecares about. Pros: The owner is excited about being an Inn keeper, and very friendly. She wants to try to accommodate any need you might have. The house has that old southern charm, and is filled with lots of antiques and interesting pieces. Even though she has 3 small children there, downstairs, they are fairly quiet, and the house is peaceful. The rooms are spacious and have couches or chairs in them, so that if you have visitors, you are comfortable sitting in the room to talk. There is also a little table and chairs located upstairs beside the balcony, for which to socialize or have a more private meal, as opposed to eating in the dinning room, or talking in the parlor where everyone can see and hear. She asked us what time we wanted breakfast, and we got to choose what we wanted her to make, even if it wasn't on the menu. It's obvious that someone has spent lots of money outside and in to make this place charming, and comfortable. It was like being at grandma's house, just more private. Cons: Limited parking, We were told there was wifi, but something happened to the router, and she said she would have it fixed, but we stayed 3 nights, and it was never fixed. Only one room has its own bathroom, so the other guest have to use a communal bathroom at the end of the hall. The place wasn't filthy, but it wasn't hotel standard clean either. There was random stuff under the bathroom cabinets and in the closets...like someone lived in there when there were no guest. There was toothpaste dots on our bathroom mirror from the last guest, and some of the furniture throughout had thick dust on it. The decor was some-what random, and the comforters and other fabrics clashed a bit with the wallpaper, but that didn't annoy too much. I pulled about 5 fleas off of the children, that's no infestation, but not cool non-the less. The owner lives in the house with her dogs, yet guest have to pay a hefty sum if they have their pet stay. Okay, the biggest no-no. The Dog was in the kitchen while she was making breakfast. And I know that because when she was bringing food out to us, he was barking and scratching at the door. She even picked him up once and threw him back in there. Dog hair flies and floats in the air, and I definitely don't want the person preparing to be touching the dog during the prep. process. Our friends were staying also, and she said she saw roaches. The grounds need work. It's cute with little benches and so forth, but they're so covered in algae and yuckiness from the trees above, that you can't actually sit on them. The bird feeders and house also need to be pressure washed, as algae is creeping up the walls and steps. Last but not least, our fruit that was served each morning was bad, fermented, slimy. Every morning. And that is usually the bulk of what we eat. Summary: All in all, it was comfortable, with several small careless mistakes on the owner's part, but she's new and learning. When you stay at a bed and breakfast and pay that price, you want it to be as close to perfect as possible, and it was more like staying with a friend. Definitely better than staying at a hotel in Bainbridge. We may stay there again, but I can't recommend it to friends until some of these issues are addressed.
