I cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Neil Thakkar and his team. From my very first visit,…read morethe office staff was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and efficient. Every appointment was right on time..I never had to sit and wait, which is almost unheard of these days. Dr. Thakkar has truly exceptional bedside manner. He took the time to walk me through every option for my lower back pain, which comes from multiple bulging discs, and he made sure I fully understood each choice. What I appreciated most was that he never pushed one approach over another .. he simply educated me, supported my decisions, and made sure I felt comfortable and confident the entire way. My lumbar ablation with him was a total game changer, and I can honestly say I won't let anyone else touch my back. He's a fantastic doctor, and I'm incredibly grateful for the care I received. Highly recommend!

The clinic intake forms ask if the patient is experiencing numbness, tingling, stinging or shocks…read moreso you expect that they have answers, but after 4 months of return visits with no improvement from suggested solutions (meds, PT, chiropractic, TENS unit, etc.), I asked Dr. Sharma why I still had those symptoms after an RFA at a different pain clinic and in front of a residency student HE SHRUGGED HIS SHOULDERS as in "I don't know, I can't solve it, I don't care, or I don't plan to help you any further" which is an abdication of responsibility. So I went home and cried because clearly he was out of solutions! I shared that conversation with my chiropractor who suggested another pain clinic and on my 1st visit there they had a diagnosis and a transforaminal injection scheduled for 3 weeks later, which has greatly improved the issues I brought to Dr. Sharma. I had no idea that procedure existed. So I took the other clinic's pamphlet and returned to Dr. Sharma one last time (5 months with no relief so I planned this would be my last visit). When I told his assistant that Dr. Sharma had shoulder shrugged at my last visit when I asked why I still had numbness, she had a look of puzzlement. When she saw the pamphlet in my hand about the transforaminal epidural steroid injection she exclaimed, "Oh, we do that here!" So by now I'm slowly putting some puzzle pieces together, but like the dumb girl who still doesn't get it, I thought it was a teachable moment as I explained to Dr. Sharma minutes later what the procedure is and how it can help, showing him the pamphlet to which he replied, (in front of 2 residency students), "We don't do those here." Something didn't add up. When I got home I checked their website. Yup, they do them. So I called. Yup, Dr. Sharma does them. And he lied right in front of witnesses in the exam room. I recounted this story to other pain clinic doctors at my new clinic who stated that this was an abdication of duty of care since a reasonable expectation is that a pain clinic can treat the symptoms on their intake form and that their doctors will inform patients of their options and not make them endure pain unnecessarily, and not LIE to them after they describe a procedure that might help (that they actually perform but failed to offer to you). I trusted this guy. He was my 2nd opinion doc when my RFA doctor seemed like a hammer and I'm not a nail. Why accept me as a patient if you're going to make me cry in hopelessness after you shrug and make me look elsewhere for answers? WASTED TIME. Absolute failure to meet the objectives. I'll never know why he did that, but other patients have a right no know it could happen to them. But I advocated for myself, my chiropractor suggested a better clinic, and I'm fully informed and getting much better care now.

I was going to this clinic for three years--until today. The female nurse practitioner whom I had…read morebeen seeing, was great, but left. So in the past year, I was seeing (male) nurse practitioner Brendon Baerg. Another reviewer (review: 7/10/2019) has stated that Baerg "made sexual comments, inappropriate touching and inappropriate overtures." The same thing happened with me, but I *only* received sexual comments every time I went to the clinic. If he had touched me, I would have reported him immediately. Some of the comments? "Go home and have sex after your treatment. You'll feel better." And--this time, when a good (male) friend drove me to my appointment: "I know you have sex with him as well as your husband." I stated that I didn't but he insisted that I did. Anyway--What business was it of his? And why did he even bring it up? There have been other sexual comments as well over the past year or so, but I can't recall what they were and well...you get the idea. Da Vinci served its purpose when the female nurse practitioner was working there, especially because they take health insurance. But Baerg's knowledge base is quite limited. During my appointments I invariably had questions that Baerg wasn't able to answer. He told me, on more than one occasion, "I don't know, I'm just a nurse." And he would suggest that maybe I should see another practitioner. I never belittled him for not knowing; in fact I appreciated that he could say, "I don't know." But he always seemed irritated when I asked questions. Insecure? Intimidated? Today, I told him that I was seeing a naturopath in addition to him, and that I had a list of blood tests that she had suggested. (My insurance would pay for the same tests coming from him, but not her.) At which point he told me, "I'm not approving tests for another doctor! Whenever I have seen you, you've insisted on directing the course of your treatment." Well, excuse me--but I know my body more than he does! Shouldn't I have a say in my own medical care? (For the record, I have a doctorate in health.) At that point, I walked out of his office, saying "I'm done." To which he responded, "Good!" Any practitioner who's worth their degree would be glad to add to their knowledge base: After all, the more information a patient can provide, the better the care can be. And what a practitioner learns from one client can be applied to another client. All good! And, if a practitioner cannot help someone, if they really cared about the client's health, they'd be happy to refer. But Baerg cared more about his ego and status being threatened than he did about my health. That, along with his sexual comments (and worse), should tell you that this guy has problems. While Baerg does suggest nutritional supplements and even Chinese herbs, he was right when he told me that his knowledge is limited, because he's not exactly oriented towards holistic care. He is very pharmaceutically-oriented. If your needs aren't complicated, and you don't care about natural remedies, you may find that this office works for you. Shannon (at the front desk) and Brett (medical technician)--in fact, most of the staff--are very efficient and do their jobs well (I'm surprised Baerg was able to keep them working for him). However, if you do your own health research and know more than the average person; if you are sensitive to what your body needs; and if you don't like to be bullied or verbally abused--then I suggest that you look elsewhere.

I'm very disappointed with my overall experience with Edicine…read more I called the front office to schedule an appointment yesterday for a lingering cough at 1:45pm and she said she didn't have anything available until after 3pm. After talking to her for a few minutes she told me to head over as she'd squeeze me in at 2pm. When I arrived, there were no patients waiting in the lobby which seemed weird that she made it seem like they were fully booked. Nonetheless, the check in process was fast and I was grateful to get in so quickly. The front office staff member took copies of my DL and insurance card, charged my card for payment and a few mins after I was taken back. The appointment was very brief; the doctor checked my vitals, throat and ears and wrote a prescription for antibiotics. The medical assistant asked for my preferred pharmacy and I gave her the cross roads. I received a voicemail this morning from THE WRONG PHARMACY 20 minutes away from where I live... stating the prescription needed prior authorization and had not been filled due to insurance issues. I called Edicine and left a voicemail as soon as their office opened explaining that I needed a different prescription sent out to the Walgreens by my house and stated the address in full, including my full name, DOB and call back number. I have called Edicine 6 times today and have not heard back from anyone. I'm going out of town tomorrow morning and it feels like a complete waste of time and money getting seen by their facility when they completely screwed up the most important part. I'm extremely frustrated to say the least.

The hospital performed many blood tests, CAT Scans, Chest XRays, MRI, colonoscopy etc., and discovered that I also had Valley Fever that had spread to my lymphatic system and internal organs. All of these tests and diagnosis were clearly noted in my medical records and available for Dr. Karnani's review. I was still near level 10 pain following my discharge and reported to Dr. Karnani. He made me feel like a burden, no compassion, failed to perform an exam of any kind and would not prescribe pain medication and so I suffered terribly for several weeks until I could see my pulmonologist, gastrointestinal, and internal medicine doctors. Two months later, I was forced to see him (MY PCP) again, and he would not even renew my Fluconazole Antibiotic for Valley Fever, even though I was going to run out before my Pulmonary Appointment 18 days later. Moreover, as my new Primary Care Physician (PCP) he declined to renew my Alprazolam for PTSD and my testosterone therapy that I had been on for 15 years again adding to my pain and suffering. He told me there are several meds he won't prescribe regardless of the results. He made me feel like a scammer or liar despite a novel of supporting medical testing and previous prescriptions for the same. I shared embarrassing and emotionally painful experiences with him and explained how the meds worked for me and improved my quality of life, and he became agitated. I finally got up and kindly dismissed myself from his office, and the worst doctor experience of my life. Dr. Karnani stigmatises certain medications regardless of the proven or positive result with the patient. Even with overwhelming support of several physicians, testing, and years of positive results. Beware he WILL NOT FILL MANY MEDICATIONS AND FAILS TO TREAT HIS PATIENTS WITH DIGNITY AND RESPECT! IN FACT HE FAILED TO EXAMINE OR TREAT ME AT ALL! Troy H.
