I was recently referred to Dr. Chris McDaniel by my wife, a long time patient of his. Unfortunately, I injured my lower back while weight training and was completely "out of whack". My wife has been raving about Dr. McDaniel's treatment. She has referred several other friends and I was the lone hold out... until I required his magic! I was pleasantly pleased with the entire experience. His lobby was filled with people that were genuinely happy to be there. How often have you ever seen someone happy to see a doctor? Not often! The woman at the front desk was an absolute joy to interact with, even as I was biting back excruciating pain. She was kind, patient and very accommodating. Once Dr. McDaniels knew who I was married to, his immediate interaction made me feel like we had known each other for years. I've been going to Chris McDaniel for a long time. He's helped me post 2 car accidents and for general back/neck pain. Recently, my wife and I went to see him for our normal back and neck issues and my wife asked Chris about treating plantar fasciitis. Chris had the treatment but said it would be extremely painful. After watching my wife get the treatment on both feet, I decided to give it a try on my left foot. My ankle has been an issue for years and even after getting it popped, the pain usually returns within a day. Oh man, the treatment was so painful! Like in the movies, where they have someone bite down on something because it's going to hurt, painful! But afterward, my foot felt amazing. Like to the point of calm, relaxed, RELIEVED! I called to schedule an appointment and the receptionist was delightful and I was able to get DD in quickly. It was actually quite funny because when we arrived the doctor thought the appointment was for me. Nope. The young whipper-snapper was the body in need. Dr. McDaniel and his office assistant/receptionist were both very personable, friendly, and it was a true pleasure to work with them. They made everything so easy, even the paperwork! As a parent, I appreciate that the doctor took the time to talk me through what he was doing. I did not ask him to do that, and he didn't have to do that, but it made all the difference to me. Yesterday I spent 7 hours in the Emergency Room due to intense neck and shoulder pain. I left with an x-ray, MRI, referral to a Neurosurgeon and a bottle of Oxycodone for the pain. The pain was still at a 9/10 today and I barely was able to work today. A friend suggested Dr. Chris and I called and was able to be seen right away. AWESOME Chiropractic skills...Just moved to the area from Cali where I thought I had the best of the best chiro treatment & then I met Dr Chris. So...I've known Chris McDaniel since high school. Always a wonderfully kind guy! Funny & smart. So didn't surprise me at all that he turned out to be a fabulous chiropractor!!!!! I've never ever been to a chiropractor in my life until just today. My husband actually really needed to get in, because he has an extensive background of injuries and such, and has been to several different chiropractors before. I told him about Chris/Mr. McDaniel -and went in for an adjustment. Can I just say, ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!! Went to see Chris because I was experiencing very bad neck pain, I walked in waited for about 5 minutes and he went and did his magic. He popped my neck and back and noticed that my neck muscle was very bad so he added some Sombra to the muscle that was hurting and massaged it for a few minutes. He then went and stuck me on the roller and had ice on my neck for about 15 minutes, he then popped my neck one more time before and leaving. For nearly 2 months I had a headache. I took Ibuprofen at first, it did nothing. I went to my Primary Care, she ordered blood work and prescribed Ambien. She felt that my constant headache was due to lack of sleep. I've suffered from insomnia most of my life. However, I took Ambien years ago and I am not a fan. I began to seek other solutions, as I also suffer from constant neck, back, hip and leg pain. I felt for certain my headache was related to my neck pain. I have received Chiropractic treatment one time in my life, following an automobile accident. At the time, it provided little relief. Because of that experience, I was hesitant to try Chiropractic treatment again. In my search for another possible solution, I stumbled upon McDaniel Family Chiropractic. I had read that often an adjustment could provide relief to chronic headache sufferers. Upon review of Dr McDaniel's page I found myself intrigued by what his practice had to offer. From his medical background to his creative endeavors, it looked like he enjoyed life and his profession. He offered nutritional supplements and footwear. I decided that one treatment wouldn't hurt. I phoned his office, but was unable to get through. I went to his web page and emailed him, leaving my contact information. McDaniel promptly returned my message, not only by email, but also by text. In that text exchange I learned that he offered flexible walk-in appointments. My oldest son tagged along. When we entered the office we were greeted by Judy and McDaniel. McDaniel took the time to ask me questions about my health concerns while I completed new patient forms. He explained some of my ailments in more depth than the original diagnosing physicians. ie I learned that often times scoliosis corrects itself (I wore a back brace from the time I was 13 until I was 25). He provided education on many things, like my facets syndrome diagnosis. We discussed my hip dysplasia, subsequently I learned that my left leg pain was likely a result of my left hip issues. Something I never even considered. We discussed my sciatic nerve issue, which effects my left leg. This consult made me more aware of where the source of my pain likely originated; my hips. Until his consult, despite constant trips to the orthopedist as a child, I never considered my hips to be the source of many of my adult ailments. My adult son is flat footed, subsequently suffers from knee pain. The only shoes he has ever found comfortable are Mephisto. I informed my son that McDaniel offered footwear and wondered if he wanted to look at them. McDaniel brought out some orthopedic inserts. My son said that the inserts felt great. They were only $40! We discussed custom made orthotics, which McDaniel also offers. He encouraged us to try the inserts first, but also advised that he could have a pair of orthotics made at a much more reasonable rate than found elsewhere. I went back for the adjustment. Upon examination McDaniel touched the left side of my neck, exactly where the pain radiated from. He noted my left side hip/tail bone was significantly uneven with the right side. I learned that my scoliosis was now mild. He actually placed his fingers on the exact location where my lower back hurts without me saying so. The adjustment was gentle and quick. I felt instantaneous relief. When I stood up, my hearing was better. By the time I made it to the desk, I realized my headache was fading. My son decided he would also go back. When my son returned, he said that after adjustment he felt "incredible." As I pulled the car onto the road, leaving the practice, I realized that I had better neck mobility. The first night my son slept a really long time. He said it was the best sleep he had gotten in years. The next day, he reported that he felt much better, not only because of the adjustment, but because of the insert. As for me, my headache remains gone. Over the years, to get comfortable I have learned to sleep on my side with my abdomen tilted into the mattress, one hip rolled partially out of the socket. But that position in recent times has failed to provide a good night's rest. I was able for the first time in 7 years to sleep on my side with my knees, knee to knee. I left out one important fact about McDaniel's bedside manner, he is extremely personable. My son has a slight lisp, dyslexia and dysgraphia, but otherwise is a normal healthy young adult. McDaniel made him feel good about himself just by talking to him. Its not often a doctor will take the time to just make someone feel better about themselves. I really appreciated his "pep talk." McDaniel did not prescribe a set regiment, other than to say "come back when you feel like you need it." He did not try to sell me a plan that I wouldn't need or necessarily be able to afford. Plans have become "in fashion" for many practices. Its noteworthy to say 2 other patients entered the practice while we were there, the rapport McDaniel establishes was evident. read more
