This was my first time making an appointment at a Target Optical location, and unfortunately, it will be my last. When I arrived for my appointment, I was told I would need to pay $117 for the exam, an additional $39 for a required retinal screening, plus another unspecified fee. This was surprising, as my insurance clearly states a $10 copay for exams, and I was already aware of the retinal screening requirement at this location. Due to the unexpected costs, I chose to cancel my appointment. I then contacted another location, where I was informed that my insurance does cover the exam and that I would only be responsible for the $10 copay. Overall, this was a frustrating and confusing experience, and I would recommend confirming pricing details very carefully before scheduling at this location. read more

They gave me glasses that I couldn't see out of left. One eye is for far away and other is close. I just needed the far away sharpened. I desperately needed them for night driving. I didn't need them for anything else. Had cataract surgert year before for that reason.The glasses came back and I could not see 6 ft in front of me.they said they would fix it and I had 60 days. Got notice they were ready Feb. 28.went within the week and they said they were sent back. Used up all me eye insurance and hundreds of dollars. Now I need to take them on and off constantly.this has ruined my independence. I can't go out at night and won't take the chance. Also the employees were dismissive of my concern. They would not let me have my eyes re-examined. Just acted like it was my fault, not the script. I have stage IV cancer and wanted to see and enjoy the rest of my life. No more sunsets. You're cruel and insensitive. I'm heartbroken. I don't have more money to pay out of pocket. read more

Scheduling my appointment online was fast and easy! Great! Anything other than that with Target Optical, NOPE. I figured to take my annual eye exams here since it's nearby and it's a large retailer so they should be able to get me in and out right? Wrong. I showed up 30 minutes early for my appointment, no big deal but they actually made me wait 20 more minutes past my appointment time because it seems that everyone books their appointments at the same time and it's allowed here. There was maybe one helpful and bright employee, Alex. Other than that, it was hectic and crowded with no place to sit! As the other reviews state, I am also in the waiting room in one of the corner chairs writing this review as I have the time to since I will be waiting for a while here. The reviews ring true when the customer service is lacking, tons of customers and no resolution to your regular annual eye exam. Expect to be here for AT LEAST an hour. Good luck! You bet your bottoms that this is the first and last time I am coming here. No thanks! PS. If you have astigmatism, be prepared to be charged for $95 (WITH insurance) because that's just something extra they did for you even though you already knew you had astigmatism. Heads up they REQUIRE a retina exam at $39 ON TOP of your exam price. Be aware THIS IS NOT NORMAL. Unless you really need your retina examined don't waste your money and go somewhere else. read more

I have been going to target optical for years. Recently they implemented a 'mandatory' test for an additional $50 to see behind the eye. They don't tell you this when you schedule the appointment. I tried to explain that I see an ophthalmologist for the same test and don't need the additional test or expense. Very disappointed in the lack of transparency and issues with the appointment. read more

The staff are amazing!! They're delightful human beings with a lot of patience and understanding. That being said, the customer also needs a great deal of patience and understanding to make an appointment here, respond to the 5 messages they send you to confirm your appointment or lose it (and to remind you of the time), and then wait an hour and a half after the agreed upon time to get called up. I didn't ask for this time. It was offered and I said, "sure." I have now waited an additional 10 minutes to see the physician. She's great too. The people are super, but if you're on a tight schedule, DO NOT schedule an appointment that day. read more

the worst ever. I see a retina specialist and an opthamologist. Target was insisting that i had to pay an extra $40 on top of the extra $50 ish they charge for a contact exam. when i explained, numerous times, that this test is done by my specialists and covered by my insurance (at an optician it is NOT) at first they tried to insist THEY had to do it, cause ya know minimumwage employees are so much more skilled than specialists. then when i instisted i was not paying for something my specialist does they moved on to "well, have them send the scans" yea, they are not going to do that. Then I told them they were free to call and confirm wha I was telling them. they took the phone numbers, I got a text supposedly from the doctor saying they were trying to get in touch. a lie. when I called back to confirm i was told by very rude little girl that i had to pay anyway. Uh NO i said cancel the appointments I will take my business elsewhere, they did not cancel. Not my problem. I purchased a pair of glasses @ store 2181 on 3/16/20 to the tune of $352.98. When I picked them up, Covid19 had just started to become an issue, and my fitting was rushed & stressed. Very soon I realized that my frames were flopping around on my ears. I tried to adjust them myself with steam, but it didn't work. After having these glasses unworn for two months (waiting for the pandemic frenzy to simmer down), I stopped in to request an adjustment. There were two employees, & not a customer in sight. I was told that they would not adjust the fit because I didn't have an appointment. Are you kidding me? Two employees, no customers, and I have to make an appt for you to heat up the frames & fit them properly to my face? What happened to customer service? Very disappointing. read more

Waited 2 1/2 hours for eye exam to finish. They told me to look over their selection of Ray ban and Oakley, reminding me that I get a 35% discount with Eye med insurance. Did some searching and found that Luxxotica own Target Optical, the brand's they sell plus the "insurance". I can buy from Costco for less than half of Target(Luxxotica)s "discount" price. read more

My new eyewear insurance has target optical listed as an option. Today I was in Target walking around with about another 200+ people and decided to stop in to see if they had frames that I would like prior to making an appointment. They were open but refused to let me walk into the store without an appointment. I understand social distancing, however, when your store is open to Target and thousands of people a day are inches from the interior of your store, what's the difference? My husband and I had two appointments scheduled for today. We got there on time and after an hour of waiting I decided to ask the front desk person how long extra do I need to wait to be seen, he said " you are next" without even an eye contact. After 15 more minutes the eye doctor Lisa A. Amato came out and called another patient. We ended up asking the same front desk guy to cancel the appointments. After we left I got the following email: a note from our office- We are sorry you are unable to make it to your eye exam. - Thank you for letting us serve your eye care needs. Worst experience ever. Never again will I come here. The gentlemen in the brown scrubs who helped with the pre tests was very nice and very good with kids. That's the only plus. But the operations of this place is completely horrible. It's like stuffing an eye office into a linen closest. And then book 400 patients for a 1pm appointment and have them all try to fit into ONE EXAM ROOM with one doctor and 4 chairs stuffed in the corner to wait. This place is an absolute mess and disaster. Please god let this be over soon. So I'm sitting here now missing tons of work and with an anxious daughter and it's 2pm and still a line waiting to get to the ONE EXAM ROOM FOR 20 patients waiting!!! Absolutely horribly operated location. Stay away at all costs unless you are out of options or have all kinds of free time to burn. There is plenty other eye places to go to not waste an eternity at this location. This is no resolution for this place except for to close the doors and build a bigger facility. Dr. Amato is fantastic!!! Very professional and knowledgeable. She examined my entire family for the first time a year ago, and again this year. My children love her and were very comfortable getting their exams. The doctor also had a new machine this year, a retinal scanning machine, that allowed my retina to be examined WITHOUT being dilated. The price was very reasonable...no waiting for dilation or blurry vision afterwards. read more
