Crown Surplus is a one of kind shopping gala of military collectibles, memorabilia, replicas,…read moreclothing and field equipment in Calgary. Located in a nice gnourmous location in Inglewood, you simply can't miss it because it houses antique military vehicles in its huge lot. The people here are very friendly and obviously know their business, there is original clothing and jackets and also newer copies of military-esque wear. Expect knives, canteens, medals, goggles, knapsacks, gas masks and tons of military clothing. Original army pants start at $75 and good pilot's jackets will put you back about $120 bucks. You would not have to go to any other store location if you stopped here; they even have a small area in one of the corners to suit up your kids, complete with mini changing rooms. I find prices kind of expensive but I haven't been in a military store since the late nineties when a good pair of army pants would cost me $20 to $25, perhaps with inflation and as the years pass their prices are reasonable, but I don't know enough about this market to be sure. If you need to winterise yourself with solid jackets, toques or accessories, this is the place to come, if it was good enough for the military, it will be more than good enough for you.

People in the store are ANGRY, like really pissed off that we and other customers are there. Treating everyone like crap for wanting to BUY their product. Yes you are busy, but people want to purchase from you and make you money dude! The least you can do is be kind and considerate. If you want to be treated poorly, go there and try to ask a question or two, you'll be shut down like the back gate. 911 Police Supply is one of those unique stores that there is rarely ever any real competition…read more The reason why? The specific market it caters to is very unique, primarily first responders. Owned and operated by 2 police officers, they are extremely well stocked in uniforms, footwear, tools and the like used by EMS/Fire/Police/Security and so on, complete with restrictions on a good deal of the merchandise (requiring a licence to obtain such as body armor). In addition, they carry a fair amount of items for the general security crowd such as metal detectors and so on, plus a great selection of high end utility knives. The only real issue about this store is simply that they are quite pricey. Some markups are notably in the 300-500% range as compared to other stores, and I mean bricks and mortar stores, not online. As another Yelper mentioned, there really isn't any competition whatsoever, with MD Charlton in Vancouver being the closest equiviant as Spy City tends to specialize more for security staff and Seal Action Gear more torwards the military crowd. Still, for gun enthusiasts especially, this is a great place to check and feel the different holsters and accessories for their handguns, and a neat place for themed clothing gifts as well. #16 of Yelp's 30 Day Review Challenge

When I returned two days later to exchange one unopened package he remembered me and our conversation. This was not a large purchase, but to have a customer leave without compensating a staff error says a great deal. You can find them in the Barrier Lake parking lot starting at 10am until 6pm every day renting out canoes, kayaks and stand-up paddle boards. Getting there early is a must. All items are rented on a first-come, first-served basis. We got there at 9:30am on a Tuesday morning and there were already two groups ahead of us in line. The rental fee for a canoe also includes paddles and lifejackets. Everything is cleaned between customers and the boat was in good repair. My only complaint in regards to safety was ironically with the safety discussion. The staff member decided to give a group talk rather than one-by-one which was fine but she encouraged us all to group up close. There were more than 20 people present and some of them were not respectful of social distancing. I ended up having to move a fair distance away to feel safe.

When you first walk in to Outlaw Sports you know you're in the right place. It even smells like a sports store, whatever that means. Hockey equipment fills up most of the store with all the helmets, padding, sticks and skates they have, but they also focus on other sports too. You can buy those gloves for the golfer in the family, or the pigskin for the football fan. They even sell jerseys and little figurines. There is so much stuff in this store that it's actually quite packed and crammed in. There isn't too much space to walk around and browse with all the stuff randomly placed around the store. Of course, all the people perusing the isles don't help either. I wasn't really offered a hand with finding anything, which was crappy because it took me a while. I could have asked for help, but I had a hard time locating someone who worked there. I think they were wearing green shirts, but I can't be sure. To be honest, sports stores scare me and Outlaw was no exception. At least they've got decent stock and lots of it!
