My dad's favorite target! I patronize this target because my dad lives here! This target has ample free parking and a Starbucks with seating. Bathrooms are always clean and the target store is always well stocked, clean and well organized. this Target does get crowded but your best bet is to go early in the morning before 1000 am during the weekends and early during the week. My dad is elderly and he always raves about how helpful the employees are. They seem to cater to their elderly customers. I wish I had a nice target like this one by my house!! I called this target riverdale bronx just to ask for a specific item that was in stock however the person on the phone cut me off and went on a rant on how this target is the #2 store and we have a policy not to disclose inventory. i don't care what target is higher on the hierarchy but I was able to get what i wanted at another target who was respectful and generous to tell me they have stock and held one for me. This Target, heretofore dubbed "Gangsta Target" is unlike any I've ever been to. Here are some pointers so that you too, can survive: 1. During the week only go really early in the morning or RIGHT after work hours, between 5pm-6:15pm. 2. On the weekends ONLY go early in the mornings. All others times Gangsta Target should be considered armed and dangerous. Trust me, I've gotten into cart fights with Target Customers. 3. If you are there late at night pay attention to what is said on the loud speaker, they turn off the lights at closing time. They did it to me. 4. There are associates everywhere you turn, but none of them know anything. EXCEPT for the ones that work in the video game section, those kids know it all. 5. Don't leave an empty cart unattended. Gangsta Target is a very busy place and carts are sometimes are to come by. Some little snot-nosed kid will, by his mother's urging, take it. 6. There are cab drivers out front waiting to make a buck. NOT ALL OF THEM ARE ACTUAL CABS!!! What you need to do before you hop into a car is give a look at its license plate it has to have "T C" or "L A" on the plates (like T325466C). Or you're hopping into a strangers fake cab and they can kill you. If you say you don't want that particular cab, he'll be cool and will call his friend who has legit plates and he'll take you. They normally overcharge by a few bucks, which isn't so bad since they'll carry your bags to the car and stuff. Now with your new found knowledge, go take Gangsta Target by storm! read more

Looking for weekly deals on anything and has a big selection from items to choose from, your best bet is to come this location. Pros -weekly circular does change often and prices drop all the time from electronics to food you will be able to nod at something that looks good to you. -they have organic section and fresh fruit section for those who are more curious of what they eat. -express lines are super fast so you can pick up what you want from the store and go. - has the Pizza Hut/Starbucks small front so if your hungry just get something Cons -space is really huge to the point you could be easily overwhelmed. -so many customers are at the store mainly for back to school sales that traffic alone makes adangerous one. -staff come of slightly mean and grumpy - food court employees don't use customer service no do they even attempt to bag your food to eat knowing you might have alot of bags that day Overall this location has some things this location externally has to fix. ZERO STARS IF I COULD!!! This target doesn't have A problem, it has MULTIPLE problems, and I will tell you which, so before you decide to go there know this is what you're in for. 1. The entire staff is high school ghetto crowd who could give a f*k about you as a customer and your purchase needs, roll their eyes if you ask where to find an item, yells at you if you try to catch their name to complain (no lie-happened to me with their worker Gregory). They surf the web of their Iphones, talk to each other like "n***g shut up; I'll f* u up; Yo I be tellin her...etc, ETC- you get the point. 2. If you do decide to complain and stick around (15 min. wait) to talk to their manager(s), description of such see #1. 3. The store is too crowded, forget circulars cause they don't have the items on sale anyway- or they're sold out, or just to lazy to find out for you if they got some in the storage. 4. When you buy over there, make sure you remember all the prices of the items, cause every time I go over there I get stuck up for 3-5 dollars worth of merchandise, and NO it's not a big price difference they they ripp you off with, it's dollar here, 50 cents there, on 10-15 items, and $5 dollars later (each visit)= do the math! How is it possible that four bottles of baby formula require four separate plastic bags? This is not a place setting; it's OK if they're not matching sets. How is it possible not to know what a bottle brush is? I mean, how? How is it OK for a checkout clerk to openly tell other clerks not to indicate that their registers are open for the next customer because 'the customers will come, and we'll have to work'? Or for that same clerk to declare in front of a paying customer 'I'm so sick of these customers'? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Back in the 90s, when my friends and I used to shop at the only Target store within Chicago city limits -- can you imagine a time when cities used to have one measly Target store apiece? -- we used to call it Targhetto because the place was like, well, Kmart. I've been to many Targets around the US and the reviews here are spot-on. This is not the same experience as shopping at Target in Oklahoma City, or even Jersey City. This is a seriously urban store, the closest Target for a population of millions of people (upper Manhattan and west Bronx). It is nothing short of an unmitigated disaster on weekends, but if you are a savy shopper you can benefit just fine. 1) Do not go on weekends after 11 am. Rule of thumb - if the shopping carts at the entry are gone, turn around and save yourself an hour of hell. 2) Target is great for raising the quality of life for those disadvantaged in terms of income and education, but those shoppers can alarm you if you are not prepared for them. I've seen actual fights in the checkout line here, I've been cursed out by aggressive single moms who override queue policy, and I've now been exposed to a lifetime of butt-level tattoos. Avoid the crowds by following rule #1 3) You can avoid the people by going at a quieter time but you can't avoid the staff. They are generally invisible and unknowledgeable. The only thing they can do is go in the back to look for something not on the shelves. Comapred to say, Mt. Kisco, where the staff insist on pushing your cart to the lot and lifting heavy items into your car, the staff here are a joke. Be prepared and be independent so that you don't need them. 4) Never, ever call the store. They do not really know how to handle calls and you will wait on hold only to get a non-answer. You will then go to the store and not be able to find something, and then be told "Why didn't you call first"? Just rely on the website for stock info. 5) Assume that on sale items are out of stock, especially electronics or furniture. But that's ok, just ask for a 30-day raincheck and get it on your next visit. 6) If you have a car, this store is great. Some of the cars on the rooftop lot look a little sketchy, but regardless this is one of the easiest stores in New York to park at. Super close to I-87 also. I guess it's pretty fitting that I have the same review for two locations of this wildly overrated big box. I used to like Target, but I don't know if it's just the fact that I have lived in places with few shopping choices, or if it's the poor management of their New York City stores, but: - If you're an impulse shopper, but don't have any money to spend, go here, because if the lack of interesting merchandise doesn't stop you, the perverse length of the register lines will. The lines are so long, in fact, that it can be hard to find a place to park yourself and your grande cart. - So unless you go on a Monday morning, expect this place to be packed, and as another reviewer of Target noted, there are so many bratty kids running around, you'll quickly consider this place to be a form of birth control. - If you actually need something, skip it, because odds are you are better off at your local hardware store, dollar store, and your probably-not-so-local pharmacy (or just shopping online). If you need children's clothes, popular toys, car seat covers, outdoor furniture, junk food in large quantities, some basic kitchenwares or cheap accessories than this is the place for you, otherwise you'll be sorely disappointed. read more

Now, you have to be fair and point out the fact that nothing like this was available in the neighborhood before it was built. With that out of the way, this place is similar to a clogged drain in a dingy bathtub that has streak marks all around it and layers of cheap paint that the super tried to cover up the grime with, instead of cleaning it. There are no real savings. I find things more expensive here than at other pharmacies like Walgreen's and Rite Aid. The only convenience Target has is location, and quite frankly, if you have a car, go elsewhere, its not worth it. You wont save money, you will be on line forever, and in the end, you always forget something you really needed and get it elsewhere. read more

This is by far the worst Target I have been to - ever. The place looked and felt like it had been looted and pillaged. There were no staff to help find things and many shelves were bare. I really dislike this Target and when possible drive to a New Jersey or Westchester location. So many of the shelves are bare and take forever to be restocked but worst of all are the lines. Like most people, overtly rude customer service really gets on my nerves. I've made the mistake of shopping here on weekends (i.e. -- discount feeding frenzy). Now, I definitely get that working there is probably stressful and not all that fun at times like these. But I experience near road-rage emotions (given that I'm a car-less city girl) while cruising through the aisles looking for something / someone to help me. Racks are in utter disarray, employees are nowhere to be found, and if one does turn up, he or she is just as likely to joke / curse with fellow employees rather than acknowledge your presence, point you in the wrong direction, or simply reply "I don't know; that's not my department," before turning back to their previous conversation. Really? Thaaanks. I make quick trips here on weeknights when the aisles are more fully-stocked with goods and less crowded with screaming children. But I do so begrudgingly and I'm always anxious to leave. Not my first-ever Target but my first in NYC ... just off the 1-train at the 225th Street station. They built a whole new area for Food and Drinks, with Pizza Hut, Starbucks, etc. It's too bad the line for a simple coffee or slice of pizza is 20min PER LINE (you need to be in each) at all days and hours they are open. I love near this location and am here all the time. The food area is VERY poorly run, it's a shame. The employees are clearly overwhelmed and no management in sight to help them. I even told management to assist by calling within the store, no luck. I hope they do better, for the sake of patrons and employees alike. Sad. read more

This is your run of the mill target location. It's not great nor is it bad, it's just...targét! The location is right across the street from a housing project ,but that isn't alarming at all. I've never had any bad times at this location and I go there every single time I'm in the area, even if I have nothing to actually buy. It's Target. It's crowded and over hyped and sometimes overpriced and generally not really where you want to be at any given time. In places that are not NYC Target is a good place to go when you need something. Here in NYC Target is where you go when the places in your neighborhood are unreliable and you just need 24 rolls of toilet paper STAT. I actually don't mind having a Target in the city (even if it's technically in the Bronx) because it is reliable. I particularly go for clothing that doesn't need to be fashionable. Jeans, sweatshirts, tees, socks, undies, etc. I know how much that stuff is going to cost and I know they'll have what fits me. I hate having to go to a bunch of different places for such simple, basic needs, so Target fits the bill there. And hey, they have 24 rolls of toilet paper! But, honestly, Target is not the place to go if you need nice things, or anything beyond the basics. Even if your neighborhood doesn't have all that you need, some neighborhood does. This is New York, explore a little. Weekends = crowded. Hell, anytime after 5 on a weekday is crowded, scarily enough. And people drive here, making the traffic on Broadway HORRID. If you can get there are other times (or very early on a weekend) then it's not too bad. But, compared to other Targets (including the one in Brooklyn), it's kinda small. the selection reflects this. Target fulfills some specific needs. I'm glad it exists nearby. But when I need something, I won't automatically think "I need to go to Target for that." I hope this doesn't change. read more

This is pretty close to me so I've been a few times. I thought it was a good thing that I had a Target three stops up from me for a bit of extra convenience now and then for things I couldn't buy right down the street and didn't need a specialty stop for. I'd found them good stores in the past. This one is quite bad. Layout is different than most I've been to, which in itself isn't a big deal... but it's not only different but a little strange. On looking for specific things I had to actually search for some things and once asked for help (and while the lady was very nice, she wasn't sure where the stuff would be either)... and I wasn't looking for odd stuff. I'm just getting various odds and ends needed to set up a new apartment. The selection in the individual sections wasn't great, compared to other Targets. Small. Except the dog food/toy aisles... No vegan supplies that I can think of. The "veggie meats" section was entirely Morningstar if I recall correctly. There weren't even standard margarines that I get that are vegan by accident (not sold for being vegan, but just happen to be). And the produce section wasn't great, either... the vegetables and fruits seemed a little old/sad. I only went back and will continue to sometimes go back because it's so close and actually on my way to the Veteran's Hospital. Oh, and the lines... Don't go on a Sunday if you can avoid it. The lines have never been good when I've been there, but on Sunday the lines were all stretching back into the clothing area behind them. Terrible. read more

2.5 STAR RATING!!! This Target is at a very convenient location for me and has some other new shops/restaurants surrounding it; i.e. Applebees and Marshalls. As you walk in through the street entrance there are always a bunch of food carts, street vendors, and LOTS of gypsy cabs. They are well stocked on some days ... well, to make it easier, they are well stocked on the weekdays (M-Th) and you end up having to ask for a lot of things if you're there over the weekend (F-Sun). I'm not sure if it's because they don't stock enough on Thursday night or maybe there's just always way too many people on the weekends ... either way, you've been warned. The things I mentioned above are just minor inconveniences and don't really matter when you're mainly coming up here for the savings. But what I'm about to mention below is what brought my 4/5 star rating down to a 2.5 star one ... First, when you're at the registers you need to watch the cashier ringing up your items. MANY times I've been rang up here and the discounts advertised weren't applied, my "free gift card with purchase" was never issued, and my coupons never distributed to me. Don't let them pull this on you by remembering the advertised deals and keeping your eye on the register. Second, I've been coming here at least once a month for the last year to pick up my prescription. The prescription was $9 where at other places it had been $25 so I was getting a great deal. Not-to-mention that the pharmacy staff had always been great ... that is until last month. I came in, as usual, to pick up my prescription and when when I got to the counter I was greeted by someone who I haven't seen before. I give her my information and when she pulls out my prescription she goes on to state, "Your prescription was not available so we had to fill it with an alternative one but don't worry. Everything about them exactly the same, it is the exact same thing, nothing changes." So I give a nod and she continues to check me out ... and well, here is where things went down. I swipe my card and get charged out, but then noticed on my receipt that the prescription that was $9 was now $40! I quickly brought this (obvious) mistake to her attention and she goes in back of the pharmacy to consult her co-workers. They began to state, "Your prescription wasn't available this time so we had to fill it with an alternative one which was more expensive." Where I then responded with, "I fully understand that but I was never consulted of this, especially not the price." After going back and forth for a bit they finally changed the prescription to the price i had been getting all year but while charging me out for the 2nd time the casher said, "Next time ask us what the price is before charging out to help prevent events like this." I couldn't believe my ears ... I had been picking up the SAME EXACT prescription for a year now and it has ALWAYS been the same price. Maybe she should not have stated that EVERYTHING was going to be staying exactly the same if she didn't mean it. This whole ordeal was so absurd to me that I decided to just go elsewhere with my prescriptions and have recommended everyone else to do the same. *SMH* Bottom line: Target will have just about everything you need and at a competitive price, just keep an eye on the register when checking out ... especially at the pharmacy area. read more

At least on a weekday afternoon, this Target seemed like almost any other in America. Only a few items were out of stock, and it was clean and organized. There was no wait at the checkout. This seems better than the other city Targets, but I am sure that on nights, and especially weekends, it gets messy and out of stock. As more are built, the huge peak demands may diminish. Still, this was a good trip today. If you've never been to Target or had a "bad trip" at another one, try this one out. EDIT: Went on a Saturday at 11 AM, and it was MUCH busier. On numerous occasions I've left my items because of long lines at the register. Half the time I walk in, see the line and walk back out. Let me start by saying that I LOVE target and it takes a lot for me to have a bad target experience. That being said, despite having recently moved to Riverdale, I will be taking the time to drive to another target the next time I go. First of all, this target is poorly stocked. I understand things run out but for 90% of the clothing I was looking at, only L and XLs were available. I feel that this is more an issue of the sales associates not doing their job. But the real reason I will not be returning is because I have never experienced RUDER customer service at a store. Not only did I get a huge attitude from the girl working the dressing room and a worker I asked to help me in the shoe department, I was most shocked by the "customer service" I received from a MANAGER at this store. When I went to pay for my things, I had to wait over 10 minutes (and was never explained why) for my credit card to go through. The manager was called over and rudely barked at me, "YOUR CARD" for me to hand over my credit card. In light of the recent credit card hackings at target, why don't you explain to me why you need to take my card and write down the numbers? Also, I know you work at a target but I would think some common politeness would be appropriate from a MANAGER. Maybe a please, thank you, a simple explanation of why you need my credit card again. I've lived in Marble Hill for over 20 years; and I love this Target. (Or Tar-zhette as I've always called it.) I have only been to 2 other Targets, once each; so I have little to compare to. One in Brooklyn & one in Poughkeepsie. Brooklyn had wider aisles and the Poughkeepsie one was so organized & roomy it was a completely different world. (Definitely NOT real estate starved NYC.) The thing I always loved about this Target was aptly said to me by another customer in the grocery section a year ago: "Everything's only $2!" Sadly that's changed. Now everything's $3: which definitely adds up. I WAS buying most of my groceries there (AND they had a decent amount of organic!) Also there was always a guy out front selling produce. It was perfect for me. But now I may as well head up to Stop & Shop on 233rd, since the pricing is comparable & there's more selection. A few things to be aware of here: Some things are NOT a good deal. They've got you there for the sale stuff and you're tired and might as well buy the other stuff you need as well. Rather than go elsewhere. They plan it this way. (Same as the impulse buys near the registers.) Also: this is New York 'fer christ's sake. (And NOT that weird Disni-fied 42nd St. New York) Every store in NYC takes on the flavor of the neighborhood it's in. This IS the Bronx and the projects are just across the street... Of COURSE it's full of spanish speaking people with lots of screaming kids. And of COURSE it's usually crowded... it's cheap. Know this & shop in the off hours. I actually have no problems with the target. I find the workers are friendly enough. The store is neat and clean. The bathroom leave a lot to be desired, but it's a public bathroom, it is what it is. My biggest issue has to do with the scores of Dominican guys standing directly outside the door screaming TAXI at you. They don't move out the way when you walk past them. There's about 10 of them on a daily basis laughing, joking, being extremely Loud and extremely rude. And on a couple of occasions fist fighting. I know target can't stop them from being on the sidewalk but surely there's a way to keep them from standing directly in front of the door and screaming at customers?? read more

And the two times I was desperate enough to have to buy something significant there, they were both missing pieces, as though they had already been returned by another dissatisfied customer. I finally visited this Target after living at the tippy top of Manhattan for 6 months. And I ask myself...what took you so long!? Not only did it take a mere 10 minutes on the subway, it was also a mere block from the subway. When I first moved to the city I visited the Target in Brooklyn a few times, and I have also been to the two Kmart's I know of in the city on occasion to get those houseware items that you just know you are going to find there. I have always been disappointed. These inner-city mega stores just don't have the organization, selection and stock that they do out in the suburbs. I decided to be ok with that, because I love New York and maybe those stores just don't belong here anyway. This Target proves the theory wrong! It's huge! It's laid out in the comforting way that every other Target in the country is laid out, and it has everything you could possibly need! I know for most New Yorkers it would be a long trip up on the 1 to get there, but if you're Jonesing for some Target love and you have a day to kill it is worth the trip! read more

I go this Target about once a week if not every ten days or so. Because of its locations it always crowded. I rather go late in the evening before closing so I can get in and out. Unfortunately if I go any earlier there never feels like there are enough cashiers open. And its not like there are only 2-3 open, there will be a good amount open its just such a high traffic area that keeps this place packed. For the most part it is regularly stocked. From time to time you may not find something but not usually. However on Sundays things will fly off shelves so just be careful about shopping on Sundays. read more

I love Target. I go for one thing and end up leaving with a cart full of stuff I "forgot I needed." Anyway, this locale is big, clean and check out is quick. It's also very diverse...where else can you find Dominicans from the Heights and Yuppies from Riverdale? Target in Kingsbridge of course! read more

Shopping here can be a bit frustrating. It's truly a hit or miss. Store is pretty clean and stocked most of the time. Staff can be a bit annoyed and frustrated especially during holidays and weekends. Lines tend to be long 80% of the time, if it's not then it's like you won the lotto. They have a large parking lot which is a plus and a Starbucks inside for a quick grab. Needs improvement others wise it would be a great place. For now it's just ok. read more

I just wanna say thank you to the woman who helped me this afternoon (12/29/18) in the beauty section. Sorry I didn't catch her name but I was looking for SheaMoisture low porosity shampoo and conditioner; I was able to find the condition but there was no shampoo on the shelf, even the the app said it was in stock. There was a woman helping another customer, and when she was finished I asked if she knew another spot where the shampoo might be. In the past, most employees would say if it wasn't there on the shelf, we don't have any. But she got out her inventory device (idk the name) and it said they had some in the back stock room and she got me a bottle. Thank you so much so glad to see someone genuinely helping and not passing over customers. read more
