I don't even know where to start. Tara is such a talented photographer and an all-around wonderful, funny, easy-going person. My husband and I felt she had a particular style that really worked for us - very easygoing, artistic but not anything too weird and she does an incredible job of capturing a moment that happens without her doing a ton to stage it - she really just brings out the natural chemistry of life. She really captured us and the energy that exists between us in our relationship. All of her images are very real. Tara did our engagement photos in Austin (in August, in 105 degree heat!) and was a total pro. Working with her was a dream. It was our first time being photographed together and she directed us really well, and let us be ourselves. The images turned out incredible, and she really gave us the looks we were after - including some cute shots in front of major Austin street art. Of course, Tara also shot our wedding for us and it honestly felt just like having a friend there. Like I said, she really is a joy to have around - she got along super well with all our guests, she does a great job of managing/directing people with enough command that they listen, but not so much that she's a drill sargent. People just like her - they were telling me how cool our photographer is! She is. We ended up with some really amazing shots of moments unfolding, particularly during the ceremony and the reception. The more staged shots (family photos, etc) turned out great, too, although those are really just for our parents. :) Towards the end of the night when we had an epic dance party during our reception, Tara was on the dance floor, sneaking in between groups of dancing drunk people, grooving a little bit, and snapping amazing photos of all the fun. She's also really professional and responsive via email and text, and she had our photos done exactly on time for both our engagement and wedding. I really can't say enough good things about her. GUYS. Tara is AWESOME. I am so so glad I used her! She not only takes gorgeous photos, but she is good at coaching those (ie me) who aren't super comfortable in front of the camera. My wedding had a lot of people and a lot of strong personalities and Tara handled it really well. She got us through all our pictures, when there was an issue with caters, it must have showed on my face, because Tara stepped in and let me go take care of it while she took some other shots. Tara is incredible! My husband and I chose her for our elopement ceremony and 'day-after' shoot (which ended up being months after) after seeing the great Yelp reviews and perusing her website and Instagram to get a sense of her style. The overall experience was fantastic! Both my husband and I really don't like posed photos much, and Tara did a great job of making us feel comfortable and giving us tips to help us look more relaxed. We got married in June and did our second shoot in the winter. In the first shoot, my husband was sweating like crazy and in the 2nd, I was freezing my butt off. And yet, the pictures turned out amazing! You'd have no idea the temperature was any different between the 2 sets of pictures. In addition to my expectations of a photographer in general (getting good lighting, posing, etc.), she also knows Austin very well. She provided feedback on where it's good and not good to take pictures, time of day, advice on what to wear, etc. She is very detail oriented! She showed up early both times, continually provided us updates, and generally, she's a very sweet, outgoing person so the whole process was much more relaxed than I expected. I'm excited to share what a wonderful experience my husband and I had taking anniversary photos with Tara. She is an absolutely amazing photographer and such a loverly person! We arranged to meet Tara in Zilker Park in Austin, TX. She scouted a spot to start our photo session that was slightly private, so we weren't immediately on display. Our Boston Terrier was along for the first part of the shoot, and she initially focused on him allowing us to get situated and comfortable. The entire photo session felt very natural even though I often tense up when being photographed. Tara talked to us and recommended that we talk to each other while she moved around and photographed. She never made us feel rushed and offered to try out a variety of locations. I sent Tara some inspiration I had gathered prior to the shoot, and I really appreciated that I could tell she was taking those thoughts into consideration during the shoot. She had so many great suggestions and found a wide variety of backdrops within the park, which became apparent when we received the photos. The final photographs were so beautiful, and our friends and family all commented on what a wonderful job she did. I highly recommend Tara for any occasion! Tara was absolutely amazing. She is very talented and I loved our pictures so much. She knows how to make my stiff husband loosen up for photo shoot! He was very uncomfortable with it at first, at the end he enjoyed the whole process. I had her do both our engagement photos in town and our wedding photos. She gave me a very reasonable package deal. It was only about 2000 for both of our photo shoots. Usually wedding photos start around 3000 so it was an amazing deal. Of all of our vendors, we probably spent more time and researched a greater number of photographers than we did for any other type of vendor. After initial contacts and interviewing two of them, Tara was hands-down the clear choice for our engagement photos and October 2013 wedding based on her style and how well we meshed personality-wise even over Skype! If you're going to spend the better part of 8 hours with someone following you around at such a significant occasion, it's pretty important that you at least get along and Tara was someone we would want to have as a friend. Tara's fantastic sense of humor and general style put us at ease right away in both our engagement session and on our wedding day. She came to Houston (where we met and live) for our engagement session and did such a wonderful job that we decided to use three of her photos in a Minted minibook for our invitations. Style-wise, we got exactly what we expected based on what we had seen on her website. We also wanted some posed family portraits after the ceremony and she made sure to get all of those as well. She was always easy to work with, made us laugh throughout both the engagement session and the wedding day, never got in the way or made us uncomfortable, was generally unobtrusive, captured all of the important moments, and worked well with our videographer (who she had never met). She delivered the photos right on time per what she had promised in our contract and gave us all of the files on a memory stick so that we can print/distribute to family and friends as we wish.
