They both have amazing personalities and quickly made us feel comfortable with the process. When we had questions prior to our ceremony the morning of, they were fast to respond and were flexible working with us. Long story short, I forgot to mention that my fiance was getting ready at another location so we were going to miss his getting ready photos. They suggested having mock getting ready photos at a gorgeous spot at our venue, and they turned out so great! In addition, they showed up a half an hour early to make sure we had time to capture those photos, although it was short notice, and had plenty of ideas for photos without us having to have any input. They also helped calm our nerves, worked great together, kept us on time and were so much fun to be around on our day. We made an absolutely great decision there…read more We first met Melanie to do our engagement photos at the Blanton, those obviously turned out stunning, as she was able to get both of us to open up a little bit and get some good shots of us. Highly recommend doing an engagement session first, the chance to work with her twice was so awesome! Emails with her were always responded to in a very timely manner, and she was very helpful with any questions I had, so great to work with. She and her assistant James showed up and were ready to go on time, kept our day running smoothly through all the photos we wanted taken and they got so many shots of things that I didn't even think of! Fast forward to last year and her wedding... during the pre-wedding photo session, the photographer and I hit it off (not like that, perv... I was there with my girlfriend and the photographer is happily married). She was just really awesome... confident and decisive but playful and unobtrusive... she made the photographs fun. And I don't usually like wedding photographers because they usually remind me of former Russian military or crazy hoarder cat-lady... expressing their pent-up need to control others though their 2 hours of power... But I digress... Kristi is amazing, she actually made the wedding MORE fun and the times we were out in the heat (yes, my friend opted for a summer wedding in Austin) enjoyable. In the end, Katie ended-up with amazing photographs (turns out people look better and take better photos when they are happy and having fun) and I ended-up with another friend. I've been best man in two weddings, a groomsman in at least 15, and an user in probably 10 over the years... including Katie's wedding last year. My heart still strikes a stronger beat when I see our first dance over and over again. It is my laptop's wallpaper after all. Kristi's capturing of our wedding has given me a true appreciation for what real, honest to goodness, quality photographs can do for life. Every penny I spent to hire Kristi was worth it. That said, she wasn't expensive at all! As far as comparable options in the Austin area, Kristi definitely keeps a competitive rate. Overall the entire photography portion of our wedding went flawlessly. She was able to get a lot of great shots of everyone that attended our wedding. She was also able to direct me (and my husband) on how where to stand so that the posed shots turned out great. After the wedding, we got all of our pictures back in a more than reasonable amount of time. Our wedding was on April 10th and she finished touching up and organizing all the photos by May 1st.
