My husband's memory is gone and he can't hear in his right ear and all the doctor said "you have wax in your ear" Then he said "we shouldn't take the wax out because then he'll need a hearing aid". WTF.! My husband has dementia and the doctor wouldn't listen to us! he also is a cancer survivor and they never asked any questions relating to his colon cancer. Then they said they're gonna take blood, but they did not tell us when we would get the results. The whole purpose of this particular appointment was to a get A. Get a physical B. Get the results of the CT scan C. Address the constant urination problem, He walked out the door before we could finish any of these issues and never came back. How can you determine this after 4 office visits? I had only seen her for allergies, blood press and a physical. Months later she switches to (Direct Primary Care) services, which mean if you're not paying her monthly (upwards of $200+) cash (rather you see her or not) you can't be a patient of hers. Well good riddance, I say. These are just a few things that just did not sit well with me. Very disappointed.

She raved about her. First time I saw her was in June to confirm I was pregnant and I was. Yay! She told me that I would mostly not see her for a while because of the pregnancy and my interactions would be with my OB. But she did say if it wasn't baby related, I could go see her. So now let's jump to Dec. 4, Tuesday morning, I called my OB and she advised me this is something my general doctor should handle. Then that would be Dr. Karen Allsup. So I called her office to see if I could squeeze in an appointment around 8:20am. I was turned down. The reason why I wanted to see her was I had major abdominal pains and diarrhea every hour to 2 hrs starting since the previous night at 6:30pm. Since I was pregnant, I wanted her advice on what type of medication I could take to ease the pain and the diarrhea. Plus I wanted to know if this was a normal pregnancy thing, food poisoning or if I should go to the ER. Someone did call me back, it was one of her medical staff 2 hrs later. I was advised that it was too early to tell and I should go on a BRAT diet. I followed her advice. The next morning on Wednesday, I had not improved and decided to stop eating and drinking at 3pm the day before because the pain was too painful. So I called Dr. Allsup again to squeeze me in for an appointment. I was turned down b/c she was too full but I asked if the Dr. Allsup could give me any advice. I was scared and desperate. I even told the medical stuff that. Was I harming my baby? The pain didn't stop at all, I couldn't stop the diarrhea and waited all day for her call. I would assume a pregnant woman who hasn't stopped diarrhea for almost 2 days and complains of major abdominal pain would be a red flag for Dr. Karen Allsup, but it wasn't. I gave up at 7pm and went to the ER that night. So when did someone finally call me back from Dr. Karen Allsup's office, late Friday afternoon!!!!!! She was pushing me to make an appointment with the doctor and I was like NO WAY. I told the appointment setter why would I go see the doctor if she didn't care to call me back when I was desperate for an answer. I had to go to the ER! Then again, the staff kept pushing me to set an appointment. I was like leave me alone because why should I go to a doctor that doesn't care about me especially when I am pregnant.

Insurance is frequently billed incorrectly, which can result in the patient being charged the full amount out of pocket. I've spent seven months dealing with billing departments through multiple phone calls, endless back-and-forths, and no real resolution--just ongoing headaches. On top of that, if your "physical" ends up including anything outside of what they arbitrarily define as a general physical, expect additional charges that feel misleading at best and scam-like at worst. Overall, while the staff may be friendly, the operational and billing issues make this practice incredibly frustrating and unreliable. I would NOT recommend it.

i liked her okay in the beginning but i also thought she didn't ask too many questions when i would…read moresee her. not a ton of nutrition questions and quick to diagnose me as another IBS case when i was going through a bout of gi distress for months. it was honestly due to stress and i do not believe i have ibs. i've already had a bad PCP with memorial care - and this time the staff did not communicate at all and the doctor did not message me in a timely manner - nor did she read everything in its entirety. her messages are usually super formulaic and not personable. if she cannot respond with sincerity to her pts, she should consider seeing less patients. my request for referral was canceled without my consent and their office wanted me to see a family physician for a derm referral. it took 2 months and then some for me to resolve this issue. they kept telling me it's due to my insurance but it was not bc i called my insurance twice to represent me - as my benefits allowed me to see a specialist. they wanted me to see another family physician before they would refer me out to derm - not sure why? one of the MAs at her office kept copying pasting generic replies to try and get me to schedule another appt for my chief complaint that i had already brought up at physical. hard to hide things when everything is recorded in epic chart system. very disappointing care. i switched doctors. EDIT: also very lazy of memorial care to "respond" yet i call the number and it's just the general line to call and connect with a patient navigator. do better. actually care. if you actually care, a manager would follow up with me

Went in as a first time patient for this particular segment of memorial care (honestly have no idea why there's so many practices with the same name that are all different) with concerns of a yeast infection and walked out with a $300+ bill and no actual yeast infection. It doesn't seem realistic to go to the Dr with concerns of a yeast infection and pay $300 each time on top of copay and cost of medicine. I just had a baby even that only cost me $600. I can only assume I would've been better off visiting urgent care or no dr at all. Memorial care medical group has been a confusing web of separate practices with the same name since I moved to Southern California, one that has left me feeling like a sheep among others rather than a human. Continuously left disappointed in the healthcare and insurance systems.
