Hey, I'm a new fan! Not as big as Big Daddy of legend, service not as much of a hug as Laura's, but I got a $6 entree that made me happy. There is a jar for tips at the window. I've been waiting to catch this place open in its new location, and today at quarter to noon was finally my day. I asked about all three of the headliners at the bottom of the right hand menu but only the Mulita was available. The guys gave me a bag about ten minutes later which included a good napkin and a baggie of salsa without my requesting anything. Baggie, did you say? Yes. No worries, I cut one corner off with scissors and we were in business. Came with a fat lime wedge on a small foam plate topped with foil. Stayed warm til I got home, and proved to be a nice modest lunch. The bistec and sausage were thoroughly cooked, bite sized and evenly distributed, the cilantro/lime was fresh, cheese was sufficient, I even liked the tortillas. They use Herdez guacamole salsa or something very like. The older menus posted on Yelp include buche and lengua, which were no longer listed on today's posters. Fortunately there are plenty of other options unless you're vegetarian, in which case it's breakfast tacos or a quesadilla for you. The menu listed avocado but I got a baggie of the same Herdez-y avocado salsa again. Tasty, but not the same as the solid stuff. I get it, though, beef and avocado weren't the cheap options to start with in the before times either. It was good to see a few people gnoshing at the picnic tables and someone else waiting on their grub when I arrived. My order was ready even faster today and the torta perfectly filled the size of paper bag that's just smaller than the standard lunch size. They'd tucked in the salsa baggie and two of the good napkins, and it stayed warm on the journey home. The torta bun was the nice spot between soft and crusty--soaking up most of the liquids so there was minimal grease leakage on the paper bag when I got home, but eating it wasn't a Sahara experience for my mouth. Before I say this next bit, let me explain I eat moist brisket, not dry. I eat the fat on my steaks and chops. I know what barbacoa is and what makes it moist. I know what it can be. So when I say my first few bites were more fat than meat please believe me. To be clear, it was NOT gristle, which would have bothered me more, nor grease. Likely bad luck so much ended up at one end and not more evenly distributed, but however it happened it was a detraction this round. Decent size, about as long as from my wrist to the tip of my little finger. I could have split this with Mr R + a side for each and we both would have been content. I got the torta and it was delicious, but everything looked so good. It was also decently priced for a food truck.

Boyfriend took me here for dinner as he'd been here at least once before and liked it. I got the 4 mini tacos; 2 with chorizo and 2 with barbacoa. The meat was really good, tacos were very tasty! Boyfriend got 8 full sized tacos; 2 chorizo, 2 bistec, 2 al pastor and 2 barbacoa. He also really enjoyed all the meats and the quality they each had. We're knocking off 2 stars however for two reasons. 1) The horchata was suuuuper "dusty". Way too much cinnamon was put in, to the point where it almost felt like drinking sandy liquid. Definitely did Not quench our thirst, if anything it made it worse. Recommend getting a soda or something else if you're not a fan of excessive cinnamon in your horchata. 2) The picture for both the regular/mini tacos showed/said it comes with grilled onions (the picture shows the grilled Mexican spring onions). I did not get those, I got the usual chopped onions but I expected the grilled spring onions as depicted in the photos. That was a big bummer for me cause I LOVE those grilled spring onions. If you're not going to serve what's in the photos then either change the photos or adjust what you serve. Other than those 2 reasons we were happy with the food and may come again. Will adjust my review if the second round of sandy horchata/lack of spring onions is fixed. read more

I tried their street tacos and it was yummy. One of the best street tacos places I've had here in San Marcos. Their tortillas were more on the fried side rather then super oily and I prefer my tacos like that. The only thing the tacos are very small and order comes with 4 small tacos and I ordered two extra one and it still didn't really filled me up. They did forget a few things, my boyfriend ordered a quesadilla and asked for avocado and they did forget to add it. The name of this establishment should be Escaso Carne La Putha. If you're a fan of hardly any meat or chicken filling in your tacos, tortas burrito or chalupas. By all means go to this green dumpster fire excuse of food truck. Owner buys a 10lb chub of beef and 2 whole chickens and tells staff to make that last the day it would seem. The profit margins must be absurd for this skimping truck to keep pumping out empty ingredient menu items. Go anywhere but this place if you're into eating a more than few grams of protein. Forgot to mention the sky high pricing for nearly nothing but bread or tortillas. The customers raving about this place must be high, intoxicated or related to someone working. It was National Taco Day so I knew that I had to have some tacos on my lunch break. I've seen this truck very many times and had wanted to try it out as I found that usually food trucks are hidden treasures, plus I work at the hospital which is right down the road so it would be a win-win scenario. I got the street tacos: 2 Al Pastor, 2 Bistec, 1 chicken fajita , and 1 barbacoa(would've just got 2 barbacoa instead of the chicken, however she mentioned that she only had enough for one). The order was ready promptly and I have to say that the tacos were pretty good! I know that a lot of the reviews say that the portions were smaller--mine were suitable for mini street tacos. All of them were very delicious ESPECIALLY the Al Pastor which is probably the best I've had anywhere! Everything was hot and fresh and the green salsa was great. The only (minor) complaint that I can give is that the younger woman in the truck didn't seem as enthused to have a customer as I expected. She was on her phone and didn't have the typical customer service attitude. However, as I was on my way to the truck I was reading the reviews and ironically someone had actually posted a negative review literally right before I had arrived. I can only assume that this killed her mood or that maybe there was a verbal argument that ensued before my arrival. Nonetheless, it was a very enjoyable experience and the food was wonderful. I give it 2 because the mini tacos are good. But they are over priced first off, and don't rely on their posted hours on yelp, google or any where. I repeat DO NOT RELY ON THEIR HOURS. They open & close whenever they feel like it. This is my 3rd & last time I'll attempt to come back here because they closed.
