We found this place on instagram today Saturday and decided to give it a try. My favorite food is Mexican food and let me tell you... this place is #1. It is incredibly tasty, great portions, amazing flavor, delicious salsas, insanely good onions from the grill!!! The tortillas are to die for! ( they may be handmade). We absolutely loved everything we order. Yummm!!! We got the Poderosa adobada quesadilla, one asada taco, one order of asada fries and a queso taco. We enjoyed the food so much that this is from now on our place for authentic Mexican food. Highly recommend!!! The young girl at the counter was so professional, courteous and so helpful that I had to ask what her name was but I don't remember it right now. I've been to the spot off H street which pretty much has no parking and spots for four cars. Ample parking here plus the same awesome food from the other location makes this one of the best spots I've been to since I've moved here. I'm not a big fan and of Tacos El Gordo and am partial to the myriad of Mexican spots in Los Angeles, but this place holds its own. There was so much guacamole and meat on the two tacos that they fell out of the sides, and I had to use a fork to pick up the rest. This is a top option for me now. It's nice and clean here. Minus one star since service here is meh. The folks at H street seem to care at least little bit, but that may be because I ordered in Spanish. All in all, dope spot. read more

Came here on a Friday night, and it was surprisingly quiet since I heard good things about this place. I got 4 tacos and a carne asada quesadilla. The tacos were alright, but the quesadilla was pretty disappointing. The tortilla was soggy, and they put pico de gallo inside it instead of on the side with sour cream. There was also no cheese at all, which made it taste really off. Definitely not what I expected from a quesadilla. It was only 6pm and their sauce bar was dirty. Tables weren't clean and lastly the service wasn't very friendly. Just a tip -- a larger, updated menu screen would make it easier for everyone to read, especially older customers. read more

Tried going here tonight at 730pm (Friday) with the wife to fulfill our taco cravings. Sadly, just like the rest of the recent posts, doors were locked when we arrived. Patrons still eating inside. I would give 3.5 for the overall experience if I could. Came on a Sunday right when they were supposed to open, however, they asked us to wait about 10 more minutes before they could let us in, which wasn't a huge deal. However, they were definitely still working through their opening duties while trying to serve customers so you could tell they were a little scrambled. Inside wasn't necessarily the cleanest, but we took our food to go, so that didn't really affect our dining experience. We ordered cabeza, suadero, adobada tacos, carne asada fries and a kids quesadilla, which were all great. All tacos had a little heat, but were very flavorful. I placed and paid for a pickup order at 7:20 PM tonight (12/30) through the restaurant's website. The website clearly states they close at 8:00 PM, and it allowed the order to go through with no issues. When we arrived at 7:45 PM, the doors were already locked and staff were inside cleaning. After knocking and explaining that we had already paid for a pickup order, we were told there was nothing they could do.They said they couldn't refund us and that our only options were to come back the next morning to try to get a refund or have the order made then. This was extremely frustrating and inconvenient, especially since we went out of our way based on their posted hours and their website accepting orders. If the restaurant is closing earlier than posted, their hours need to be updated or at the very least, the website should not allow mobile orders so close to closing. Very disappointing experience and poor handling of a situation that shouldn't have happened in the first place. read more

With parking conveniently located in front or next to the dog park, it's easy to access. Walking in, you'll notice they've got more tables than chairs, which tells me either they're expecting half the customers to stand... Menu prices are pretty straightforward: tacos around $3-$4 each, tortas starting at $12 and climbing up to $18 if you're feeling fancy with your meat selection. Carne asada fries? $18+. I should've known then to run for the border. We ordered a little of everything--tacos, tortas, and the infamous carne asada fries. The tacos? Solid. Handmade tortillas that slap harder than your abuela when you talk back. The torta? Also good. But then came the tragedia mexicana: the carne asada fries. We decided to take them to-go. The lady at the counter handed me the bag and said, "We ran out of styrofoam containers but this plate is the same size." Cool, no problem--kids were halfway out the door, so I trusted her. Big mistake. HUGE. I got home, opened the bag, and found a sad little container of fries that looked like they'd been portioned by someone on a strict low-carb diet. My husband saw them and immediately hit me with a "¿Y eso qué es?" I paid nearly $20 for these fries--I've seen more meat on a Taco Bell commercial. And don't even get me started on the flavor. These fries made me nostalgic for the ones that come drowned in nacho cheese from that one sketchy spot by the gas station--and that's saying something. All in all, I dropped around $80 for a family of four. Bottom line: The tacos and torta are decent, but those fries? Ni el diablo los recomendaría. If you're craving legit Mexican food, skip the mall vibes and hit up a taco shop in the barrio where the salsa burns and the carne is cooked with soul, not sadness. Honestly annoyed with this place. I've tried to come to this location the last 3 times and they are never open when they say they would be. Unfortunate because their food is good, but they are wasting my time. They used to open at 11am and that changed I guess to 12 but I drove by 12:30 on a tuesday and they were still closed. I'd rather drive to the Main St. location. At least they're open on time and you get 2 for 1. If you're coming here for lunch, save your gas, because there's a good chance they are still closed. read more

The adobado tacos were great: large slices of moist, flavorful pork on a double layer soft corn tortilla. Next time, I'd probably ask for no additional (maybe it was a crema) sauce so I could taste the marinade more. Carne Asada was small squares and a little tough. I'd skip that one. Extremely unprofessional. Ordered some food of their DoorDash, said it would be done by 2:45PM. When I got there it was closed. Staff saw me and did not want to open the door signing me off. The staff memeber finally came to the door and told me she opens at 3 very rudely. I told her I ordered food online and she told me no, as I showed her my order i immediately asked for a refund due to the lack of professionalism. The staff member got nervous and told me she will tell her manager about it. The communication about the hours was not the problem it was her tone towards me. We saw their H street location on social media and wanted to try, fortunately, I saw they had this location in Eastlake as well! It's at the end of Otay Ranch mall and we came in the afternoon to try their tacos. They have a big menu and service was really quick. We got their suadero (slow cooked brisket), adobada (which is carved to order), and carne asada tacos. I noticed that each tortilla was pressed and cooked to order and you can definitely taste how fresh they are. Interior is very clean. They also have a variety of different salsas and pickled onions/carrots/jalapeños and radish available. All tacos had a large amount of meat which was nice. The carne asada were good, but the standout for me was the suadero. It was super tender and flavorful. There also is a pineapple salsa available at the bar and it was truly the perfect bite paired with the suadero. My only con is that the tacos come out to $4.33 each which is pretty steep for street tacos but they don't skimp on the meat. Overall, these are pretty good tacos! read more

The lengua tacos I ordered were delicious, some of the best I've had in San Diego so far, service was also adequate. Unfortunately, the place itself is rather unsanitary, there were flies on the salsa booth, and I even saw a big spider dangling by the window, which I should have taken a photo of. If it were not for that that, this location would get a much higher rating, as the food itself was excellent, but I'm hesitant to return. read more

They use plastic and paper bags for packaging -- this should be paper only in my opinion. The menus were partially blocked as well. Overall rating is 3 out of 5. I will give a 5 if the following improvements are made: - Flies are exterminated from the restaurant - Paper bags are primarily the takeout packaging - Place is cleaned (including cobwebs, machines, and equipment) In addition, this restaurant does not have DashPass on DoorDash, which makes it more expensive. We used to really love this place. Back in June, food was a little pricey, but it tasted good. On top of that, the staff was very attentive and sweet. That was not the case today. Today we decided to do a take out order since they were closing in the next hour. When we picked it up, it felt kinda light. Turns out they forgot our order of fries. The fries they gave us were super soggy and the serving was maybe a little more than half the size they were in June. Flavor in the fries was lacking, but the tacos and salsas are still just as good as before. Overall, not sure if we will be returning after this. We paid $100 for three quesadillas, one large mixed fry, and two tacos and aren't even full. Unfortunate as we really enjoyed this place over the summer. read more

We ordered the Tacos de Asada, Tacos de Adobada and the Fries Mixtas. Everything was delicious. Nothing disappointed. The service was 10/10 too. I believe it was the owner that helped me and he was so generous with all the salsas and fixings for the tacos and had a very welcoming vibe.
