Amazing place. Lots of homemade authentic food. Staff is super friendly and the store is very clean. Open late and have an amazing variety.

Chicken, beef, pork tacos at Taqueria El Rey

When the gal working the register doesn't speak much English and the guy working the grill doesn't speak any English, you know that it's going to be about as authentic Mexican-American as it gets here. I managed to flub my way through three (by holding up three fingers) tacos, one pollo, one asada and one carnitas. It took a few minutes (I watched the guy grilling the meat to order) and when it arrived, it looked and smelled great. Nicely stuffed with the usual radish and cucumber slices. An unexpected bonus was the grilled scallions, which popped into my mouth perfectly as I ate this great meal. Very tasty, very filling, VERY cheap. Yum. When someone describes "hole in the wall", they're talking Taqueria El Rey. Yum!

Based on a Yelp search, we stopped here for a quick bite between meetings. I had the Fajita Mixta. The platter was HUGE and the food was very tasty. My only complaint is that the tables were sticky and not as clean as they could have been.

Chorizo tacos...wonderful!

First off, I would eat here again, second, you wouldn't go here for the ambience. The food is legitimate and made with pirde. Brush up your Spanish and give this place a try. Priced right.

Went here for my birthday loved it

Two pastor tacos

Got pastor (pork) tacos, meat was tender, spices were done right, overall a great place to get authentic tacos. I only wish they added some queso fresco or cheese to add some creaminess. The side tray of sauces are delicious and add another dimension to the tacos-- it's a must add-on. Rice and beans were so tasty. As a side note-- the only high chairs they had were missing the front bars, so not really the safest to be putting small infants in.

Great value - good food!

A cheese pupusa used instead of a tortilla as the base, and it's loaded with all of the fixings. I ordered them for a party years ago, and most recently I tried their chorizo and shrimp ones for the first time. They were delicious and filling! FYI they're $6 each, but I think it balances out based on what you're getting. This is my first time they're in person since they moved. It used to be deeper into Landover... Right across from where my friend lives, actually. Now they are basically at the intersection of 450 and 410. Unless you look closely at the window, they are very easy to miss. When I went, the blinds were closed and they don't have a sign! Decide you order on has a few tables, and the other side has more with a pool table and bar. I don't know when the bar opens, but it looks like it would be fun. The chair is at the tables on that side look like they could use some updating. It's up to you whether you decide to dine in like I did, but you absolutely must try a putaco. DO IT.

Both the dough and frijoles were seasoned well and cooked to perfection, I'm so glad I ordered two frijoles con queso. I also tried the pupusa taco with steak. The meat was literally so flavorful and tender. I will absolutely be ordering and dining in to angel's again.

We shared the corn, which was perfectly sweet and tangy, ordered three lemonades, and tried a handful of tacos. The taco de lengua was tender and moist without being fatty, the barbacoa was savory with just the right hint of sweetness, and the carne asada was hearty, meaty, and full of flavor. We wrapped things up with a flan that was creamy and custardy--exactly how it should be. The packed parking lot says it all about this place's popularity. Don't miss out.

There are definitely a variety of taco choices. I haven't been unsatisfied yet. There is a small eating area inside away from the bottleneck area where people order and pick up their food but I don't think I'd ever want to eat inside since it's way too busy and the ambiance would be too hectic for me to deal with. There are other choices of sides or extras like maíz loco (corn on the cob with a variety of toppings like mayo, catsup, crumbled cheese, tajín...your choices), dried pork rinds, chicharrón (chewier and crispy version of the pork rinds), atole (hot, masa-based beverage made from corn dough, water or milk, sweetened with sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla). There are quick desserts to go too. I would highly recommend ordering ahead so you can get in and out or figuring out the less congested times. I've come during the dinner rush hours time but hadn't been planning on getting it ahead of time. I definitely recommend this place and will continue to come back.

A fine establishment! This modest family owned restaurant 'on the hill' is a diamond in the rough!…read moreWe came as a family of five adults for breakfast. We all found traditional diner breakfasts as well as many dishes with a Latin taste and ingredients. I had their big egg sandwich with ham and bacon on a bagel. The sandwich's taste excelled despite the plain Jane bagel. Otherwise one family member had the eggs Benedict with ham rated very good. The hollandaise was just right. All eggs were cooked as ordered, bacon crispy but not too well done. Sweet ice tea was great! Everything was fresh, tasty and satisfying! The service was also attentive and friendly. Overall a great meal! Highly recommend!

Luckily I'm very familiar with the area and know that the entrance is beside the Exxon, up and winding driveway and sits on top of the hill. There's a small Wyndham hotel next to it, so if you look up and see the Wyndham signage, you're in the right spot! I've never dined at this spot and it's been here for YEARS! I believe it started off as a Howard Johnson's many moons ago, but don't quote me on that..LOL. The restaurant itself is really nothing to look at. It's seems more like a diner than a restaurant but it's surprisingly large, just a little outdated. I sat at the rather small bar since I was there for HH. The bartender was extremely pleasant and attentive. I ordered the wings and bacon wrapped dates that were on the HH menu and I also ordered the calamari which was on the regular menu. I must say, the calamari and bacon wrapped dates tastes as good as any I've ever had! The wings were very good as well. The HH priced margarita was extremely good and $4 off the regular price! I will definitely be back when I want to grab something good and lowkey. Oh yeah, there's a Mexican food vibe which surprised me. I was served complimentary chips and salsa, and the menu had several Mexican cuisine offerings. Because of this, they may want to consider a name change.. Lol!
