Regular truck was closed when we went by so we headed down FM 2978 to find this location. Mama was craving street tacos and I'm very glad she was. The tacos were fantastic as per usual but the best thing we ordered was the Gordita. To me it taste like a tamale in sandwich form. Sofa King good. Both the green and red salsa delivered and the grilled onion and jalapeño put everything over the top. The elote en vaso was fantastic too and you really can't beat the pricing. $1.25 tacos, $3 elote, and Gorditas at $3.50. Yes please. I don't know if the other El Pichon has the elote and or the Tostada because we always just got a sack of tacos on prior visits. Next time I will be sure to ask. We will absolutely be back.

And the prices are not always consistent. It's like they charge me more because I'm not Hispanic sometimes. Went there the other night because my sister really wanted tacos and we ordered 14, paid over $30 and got home to 8 tacos. This is like the fourth time in a row that they have disappointed. The ladies can be kind of rude and offputting, I guess they don't need more business or something. Bring back the old owners!!

Beware though,Red sauce is effin hot, beware, and don't say you weren't warned. It is so freaking hot but I can't stop eating it. It's the best way to clear your sinuses for sure. I've tried a few different things and I love all of it. They do have things on their menu that I'm not familiar with but the pictures make it all look fantastic. Again I highly recommend and offer my warning on the red sauce. The food truck is at the Shell station at the corner of 2920 and kuykendahl. Again remember it's only here in the afternoon. In the morning there is a little inside shop called La Casita. They have good food as well, but the food truck is what I always enjoy most..

It seems to always be heading toward the back of the neighborhood where a bunch of the new construction is happening. I never knew where exactly it was set up, but I assumed it was back by where there's a big crowd of construction workers who don't have to go far for lunch. So I just headed back in that direction and drove around looking. I felt like I pretty much covered every single street and I eventually gave up. But once I got home, I looked it up and found a website that said the truck stays at Stampede Sports Park. I wasn't sure if it was accurate, but I figured I might as well give it a shot. Sure enough, there it was! It turns out they were here from 1130a-3p Mon-Sat. I have no idea where they are headed when I see them going to the back of the neighborhood every morning, but I'm happy to have found their regular spot. As for the food, it was worth the crazy hunt. I heavily debated on what to order, but ultimately went for the torta at the recommendation of Dave F. Dave did not lead me astray. I loved every bite of it. I also added rice and beans, which were also as great as I could have hoped for. And a fresh mango juice was the best thing ever to wash it all down with. Technically, this is the closest physical restaurant to my house now and I am definitely going to go back and work my way through the entire menu!
