The food was delicious! I had a super burrito and two tacos. My girlfriend ordered two tacos and carne asada fries. Honestly I don't remember the meat we got in our tacos but it was so good and the salsa wasn't too spicy but it had a kick. The burrito was so great and very filling. Oh and the cucumber water was so refreshing and my girl liked her drink, I don't remember what it was though. The service was great. They brought our food out, were attentive to our needs when we needed an extra fork or napkins. And the ambiance is really welcoming. We ordered the pastor super burrito, which is literally twice the size of a regular burrito. It's enough to feed at least two people. I pass by this place at least four times a day and finally decided to pop in. First off, it's super cute inside and so much to look at. Second, it's clean. It currently has a Día de los Muertos altar that's super sweet. Food. Super Burrito for the kid - he loves burritos but he said that this one was really, really good. He got asada and said the flavor was good. There is so much on the menu and I ended up with steak fries based on the staff's recommendation. Yup. I don't always go for carbs but when I do - I want them to be worth it. It was. Loaded with meat, cilantro, crema and salsa - they were so good and I didn't even finish them. They're off the side of the main road with pretty accessible street parking and I was the only customer when I dropped by this one for Monday night dinner. No frills interior with ample seating. Grabbed an asada super burrito (with guac, sour cream, and cheese +$2) the size of my entire forearm for $16 even. This was a great burrito that fed me for two meals, and this is coming from someone whose Chipotle bowl record is sub 5 minutes with a tortilla on the side. You won't leave hungry or disappointed. I decided to have some crispy tacos today near the San Leandro Costco after shopping. And this is one of the places that showed up in my yelp search. To get a feel for their meats, I sampled 4 different regular tacos: Birria, lengua, cabeza, and sadeuro. All were stellar, but the lengua stood out for its super tenderness and perfect touch of saltiness. We tried the lengua as the crispy Dorados Taco. I haven't had a lot of crispy tacos, but this one shot up to the top of my mental rolodex. The shell was so crunchy but angelically light! And there was a boatload of fillings on top that the surprisingly complemented the lengua as opposed to smothering it. The guy behind the counter was super friendly and nice. Gave total owner vibes. Very accommodating. We didn't want anything spicy in the tacos and requested the salsa to be on the side. The crispy taco had something spicy on it so we got another one which they made sure to not have anything spicy on it. And comped us the first one! Exceptional service! Its Bay Area time, and I'd like to share with you some places I hit on my last trip. I was going to visit a family friend in San Leandro. TEL is on Doolittle on the way to her and her husband's house, so it was very convenient to stop by for lunch. TEL offers a number of tacos, birria and other traditional Mexican dishes. The carne asada plate caught my eye, and I was glad I ordered it. There was plenty of tender, nicely marinated skirt steak. In addition, the handmade tortillas were moist and delicious. Regarding the ambiance, its very casual in here. Nonetheless, you can get your fave Jarritos or fave Mex beer from a cooler after you pay. You order at the counter, and they bring your food to you.. The service was friendly & warm. There were quite a few regulars. I have close ties with my family friend, so I plan on visiting her at least once a year. This was hands down the best chile relleno burrito I've ever had, perfect for vegetarians! I ordered it wet with both green and red sauce, and honestly, it was the best of both worlds. I usually prefer green sauce, but this burrito was so good, I actually ended up loving the red one even more (which never happens!). That said, the green was just as delicious and flavorful, balanced, and so satisfying. I didn't think a restaurant could make me like red sauce more, but here we are! We moved to San Leandro last year and it took us awhile to find our new taco spot. Taqueria El Cruzero is tucked into a sleepy little set of businesses. Mini mart on the end, bar in the middle, and the taqueria on the north end. The inside is lovely- they've done a great job with the fixtures, amazing chairs each with a different theme. You can see into the kitchen from the bar stools. Big, easy to read menu. The food...you can smell the yumminess the second you exit your car. We're simple and adore their grilled chicken tacos. It has almost an el pastor vibe. I took a chance on their Elote en Vaso (corn in a cup/bowl). And it's my new favorite thing! So good! Creamy (mayo), pinch of heat from the Tajin, and zip from the lime. Hubby loves their steak fries- he swaps the steak for the grilled chicken. Amazing! Please check them out! read more

We truly appreciate the warm hospitality and delicious food! After a great round of golf, this was the perfect spot to enjoy a meal. The burritos are the best, and the salad bowls are excellent! While the Birria was flavorful, we wish the taco had a firmer texture to hold up better for dipping. Wow, surprisingly cute inside! Cashier was friendly and welcoming. It's fast casual so you order at the counter but they have a little microphone so they can hear your order correctly - which worked! Ordered a few burritos, they were okay, not outstanding , my son said the refried beans tasted "like aluminum foil" hmm, - but the tacos were a different story! El Cruzero definitely brought their homies from Oaktown. one of Oak's finest taco trucks is now one of the dro's finest taqueria. offerings: aqua fresca, plates, tacos dorado, burrito, quesadillas, torta, tostadas,, nachos, fries, plates,, eats: lengua quesadilla (11) -good sized. cut into four pieces, -came with fork & knife, was offered salsa, hot sauce, passed. -pricing not so transparent. is lengua extra? listed as 10 with meat included. nonethess, it's all good, worth the added $. lengua juicy and tender. frijoles: -order at counter, wait for number to be called when food is ready to be picked up. good number of tables for seating inside. no outside seating. -the 2 amigos work quickly. quesadilla came out in 5ish minutes.... -parking may not be a problem if walking isn't an issue. -may repeat to try the camaron plates some day. read more

This is a hidden gem of a taqueria. No frills, but delivers on the food. The workers are so kind and constantly checked up on us. They brought a red and green salsa, both were great. They even have a super spicy salsa too. Order: -Shrimp super burrito: Great portion and included a lot of shrimp. In every bite from end to end, there was a piece of shrimp. The balance of rice, beans, and shrimp were great. -Shrimp plate: Generous portions again with the shrimp. I enjoyed the handmade corn tortillas -Carne asada fries: This was okay. The guy at the counter literally said "are you sure you said no salsa? " like I made it up for some reason I don't see what the benefit would be for me to lie about not asking salsa would be when I gave all the tacos back, if they looked at my last review they would see there was no salsa on my tacos‍ so yeah overall experience turned me off from here. Hubby enjoyed his wet burrito and he's become quite picky about his wet burrito. The carne asada taco had a buttery taste. The al pastor tacos were good as well. All the meat was moist and not overly dry/chewy. Service was quick and nice. Super friendly greeting even though we ordered to take out. Veteran taqueria with Oakland roots sets up a fairly large spaced shop in an industrial zone next to a Hispanic hood. Good pick for them as lots of dudes in work gear, many being in bright florescent tones got in line during a weekday lunch hour. Menu is large and only have scratched the surface. I may eventually find something here that may make me a regular, but not quite yet. LOTS of meat options here, like a dozen or so. Most taquerias only offer 4-5, so this was a glaring observation. From carne asada to tripas, carnitas to buche, they almost got it all. But some of their translation is a bit iffy. Their menu says tripas = tripe and buche = pork belly. In more accurate translation tripas is beef intestines usually fried slow until crisp. It is not the tripe that you'll see in menudo. And buche is NOT pork belly like one would use for bacon. It is the actual stomach so it is an offal meat. Just FYI. Tried 5 different meats all in taco form in 2 visits. All good. They are the super tiny street tacos size, so barely 3 bites per. They are about $2.50 each, maybe a tad more for lengua and more expensive cuts. The tortillas are super soft and tender. They source a good company. I think they have a hand pressed version, but those are $4 per, and would assume they are bigger, probably double the size. That is what I will try next. Trust. Lengua (4.5*) Proper, super tender and cubed in nice chunks. I want to try this in a burrito next time. Carne Asada (4*) Typical, quite well done and chopped pretty fine. Decent beef flavor though and because of the chop, absorbs the salsa nicely. Chicken (3*) I received this once, instead of my carne asada. Don't really know how that happens as Chicken or Pollo sounds no where near as carne asada. I was on the run, so didn't correct it. It was fine, the saucy braised chicken type. Too tame for me and made me feel like a boring American. Lol Carnitas (4.5*) I think this is what they do well and possibly known for. It is legit, very porky and super proper texture. I want to mix this with chicharon on another visit to get an ultimate bite of the Mexican pork experience. Dorado Tacos ($4/4*) Chose cabeza as the meat filling. These are crispy fried shells, but don't think fast food shells. They are super crisp but resemble very little to the ready made ones.The cabeza was very juicy and quite legit, true to form. This is garnished with a slight shmear of refried beans on the bottom, then topped with shredded lettuce and grated cotija cheese. These were also much bigger than the street tacos. I would revisit this. Another thing to point out is that on my 2 visits, the salsa was not consistent. One time it had a decent zing, and another time (same week) it was fiery hot. And I did not try to change anything. Not bad, but a bigger and unanticipated sweat-fest the second time around. Great drink options from a decent selection of bottled beers to homemade agua frescas. A pretty full taqueria experience that is above the curve. Dive in! read more
