I found this gem of a restaurant by total chance. I wanted to go to a good Mexican restaurant & I was craving some for haha. I asked a local and she suggested Ci co de Mayo, so I went. The service was great, the menu was vast, and the food was very delicious, oh & the horchata was made perfect the way I like it. I gave 3 stars due to the parking situation, it's very tight, and people have to park on street parking which. An be yrick because the restaurant is on a busy street wirh homes adjacent to the restaurant so parking is scarce at times. I definitely recommend this restaurant, and I will. Not sure what happened to this place! We just ordered dinner today and ate. I got me 3 tacos carne asada. Tacos tasted like paper with beef jerky unsalted. No flavor whatsoever. I was always going for my breakfast burritos at least 3 -4 times a month. I bought one couple weeks ago and it was terrible. The food and service are consistently good! My favorite is the cinco burger. It's a taste explosion and my favorite burger! I order the double burger. It comes with cheese, bacon, grilled onions, grilled jalapeños, lettuce and avocado. It's juicy; never greasy and the ingredients are always fresh. The bacon is thick cut and cooked perfectly. Most restaurants that have a jalapeño burger, use pickled jalapeños. Cinco de Mayo's peppers are freshly grilled. I'm a burger aficionado and this is up there as one of my all time favorites. We were on our way to a concert at the Toyota Amphitheater in Wheatland and wanted to stop somewhere for dinner. Mexican sounded good and this place had solid reviews--they were spot on! It was around 6pm and over 100° outside, so we were thrilled to see they had a water mister outside to walk through plus some indoor seating in addition to their patio seating. You order at the counter then go find a table. There's a bathroom inside despite being a hole-in-the-wall place that seems like it may not have one. Prices are super affordable here! Around $30 for two people and lots of food plus a beer. I got the quesabirria tacos which were delicious! The meat and broth were so flavorful. Good amount of cheese and had enough toppings to make it feel complete but not overly stuffed. My husband got the California burrito, he thought it was really good! The carne asada was very tender and the burrito was assembled well, it never fell open despite how much was packed inside. They also have homemade red and green salsas, both were amazing. We split the carne asada fries and they were some of the best I've ever had! They had all the best toppings and the fries were thick enough to not fall apart underneath it all. Our friends got a few different types of tacos, their favorite was the fish taco! Everyone was very pleased and full after this meal, we got enough to not be hungry again the rest of the night. This is a family-owned small business and you can tell they know how to operate a successful restaurant. I'll remember this place next time we are in the area for another concert! read more

Went in on a Tuesday around 3;30pm. Ordered to go: fiesta fries, 8oz guacamole and a large Jamaica with no ice. Our order taker was super friendly and made ordering easy. Our order was quick. The carne asada in the fries was very flavorful and there was a lot. The fries were nicely cooked. The guacamole had great flavor but looked a little "watered down". The restaurant itself was clean. There was some construction happening in the parking lot behind the building but it wasn't too busy so was not a problem. The Jamaica was also good!!! So glad things are still good here as it was the last time we visited. Been coming here since before the remodel and it's good to see that the items we habitually order are still great!! read more

Was told about this place by the locals and we happen to be stopping by the post office to grab our mail in Olivehurst and it's literally right across the street. I ordered it online just thought it'd be easier to pick up because we had our dog with us. Hubby got three chicken enchiladas with extra meat double rice no beans. I got the Al Pastor Torta with caramelized onions. I got a half order of their fiesta fries with half chicken half birria and a large Horchata drink. The food took about 25 minutes to come out because they're pretty busy. They're local mom and pop shop that's been open since 1998. They have a pretty decent selection for their food and just so many things to choose from. I love that they have a vegan menu as well. We didn't get to dine here but it's a little cute place with a little parking spot in the back will be back again to definitely dine in. My torta was so delicious and the Al Pastor was just divine the caramelized onions just gave it that extra pop. The Horchata drink was delicious I highly recommend it very cinnamony. Hubby devoured all of his food with the green salsa that they gave him. I was a little sad about my fiesta fries cause I got a little soggy, but then I had to travel with it for a little bit so maybe next time get it there versus takeout. But the birria meat was so delicious and flavourful (which is what they're known for). I would love to come back and try the jackfruit taco. We will come back again. read more

I've been thinking about menudo for so long that when I saw this restaurant during the week I came back on the weekend to have it. This is a very small but very busy place. We only tried the menudo so I can't comment on anything else. Except that my goodness there were a lot of people so it just be good. They have limited indoor and outdoor seating which was fine as a lot of people were doing take out. What I love is you can get a small or large bowl. My granddaughter and I both chose the small which was plenty big for us. The broth was very tasty and the meat was soft. My only complaint was not a lot of hominy but I'm sure if you ask they would provide it. Plenty of garnishes and tortillas to go with the menudo. Will definitely come back. read more

Our usual Mexican takeout place has been a total disaster lately, so I found this place on Yelp and read their reviews and decided to give them a try. So happy I did!! Ordering is easy, takes a minute to get the food, but that's to be expected when its made to order, right?! And the order takers are so attentive and friendly, a huge plus for me! We've had their food twice now, about once a week. I can't say enough good things about their Chile Relleno Burrito! OMG it is so good! I have been ordering food from this place for several years now, and for the most part, I've been happy. Unfortunately, I feel like I need to drop a star from my original rating. First, though, I'll talk about the positives. The employees here are very, very nice. Very friendly and helpful and everyone seems happy to work here. This is a definite plus and is the biggest thing that keeps me coming back. As for the food, it's usually pretty good, but some items are hit or miss. The carnitas used to be awesome but I've stopped ordering them after receiving several orders loaded with chewy fat. The chicken is pretty bland, it tastes boiled but I know some people like it that way. The biggest negative here is the wait time. Last night I waited 42 minutes for 3 orders of nachos. Yes, they were busy, but there has to be a more efficient way for them to push orders out in less than half an hour. I've ordered at non-busy times and still had to wait quite awhile for my order. I often feel bad for the girls in front because customers get pushy and rude while waiting and it's uncomfortable for customers to be stuck waiting in a small area with people ranting and raving and acting like fools because of the wait times. I'll still patronize this restaurant, but I do hope they improve their food quality and wait time. read more
