This was my favorite Taqueria in Baja. I went here twice with 3 friends and it was quick and soul satisfying. I liked that there was an honor's system, so I could eat first and then pay. The fish taco was the bomb and there were many condiments to choose from. My bestie especially loved the beans, which they don't even charge for (full disclosure: nobody charges for taqueria beans). The vibe is cool and photogenic and there's a surfer feel with all the stickers. We stopped off here on the recommendation of an old friend who runs a beer collaboration next door baja brews(you should check it out as well. 1 in our group wanted Al Pastor tacos before we headed back from a weekend in the Valle. Food was O.K. they are definitely not the best tacos al pastor I've tried around this area, they're very bland and even with lemon and salt still didnt have good flavor. Now 2 businesses down is a different story. You can tell the alpastor is very well seasoned and they make them to your liking. Stopped by El Trailero on recommendation from an acquaintance. It was around 6:30pm and the place was hopping with people placing orders. I had two carne asada tacos and one adobado taco. My husband tried the carne asada torta and adobado taco. The carne asada was unbelievably tender and delicious. The tacos were amazing! My husband enjoyed the torta, but prefered the tacos and added another carne asada taco to his meal. My only warning is to watch out for the hot salsa. It was so hot that it steamed up my glasses!! Hands-down, the best tacos I've had in Mexico. Traditionally a little bit pricier than regular street tacos, but they are worth it. The tortillas and meat are all freshly prepared right in front of your face. There's always a line of people here and there's a reason. Be aware of the way it works, each person has their own dedicated station. There is one for carne asada, one for adobada, one for special meats (like lengua). You order everything you want, eat it, and THEN pay for it. It's the honor system, which is very comforting to feel in Mexico. The bathrooms are clean as well. Ok tried this place on a Thursday at about 9:30 pm. Not sure if it's a bad time to go but they didn't have fish, shrimp or lengua tacos. So I was a bit disappointed since those are the ones I wanted to try. We ended up getting pastor tacos since they didn't have the others. Wasn't impressed with the pastor actually and I heard great things based on reviews it was cold and didn't have much flavor. We were a bit confused on the ordering since there were people ordering tacos and eating them at the counter where they made them, so I wasn't really sure of the process. We did order the tacos with the one preparing them and then paid at the register after getting them. We sat at a table to eat our tacos. There does not appear to be beer available but it looked like there was a neighbor tecate store. They offered soda and aguas. Horrible experience. Make sure you get a copy of your receipt or they will rip you off. Stopped by late night to pick up tacos. I went to pay while they were still being made, but when the guy finished, he looked over to the guy at the register, and he said that I hadn't paid. I had literally paid 60 seconds prior to that!!! And I there were only 3 people there!!! Since I did not get a copy of the receipt, it was his word against mine, and I was forced to leave without food and without my money. I will never eat here again. You're better off going to taco stands in Ensenada proper. read more

Exactly what you're looking for out of a taco joint. Unassuming and exceeding expectations, taquaría el trailero became our go to taco spot in Ensenada. Let's get to the meat of the matter: the meats..... they're great! The asada alone, tastes like it was marinated in lemon and seasoned to perfection. The tripas are nice and crispy without any of that rubbery consistency of places that don't know how to cook them. That's how you know these guys know what they're doing. My hubs had the shrimp and the pastor and he said they were amazing, too. Like most other places, it's on the honor system. they're prices are so reasonable, but after eating we felt like we should be paying more for it. If you go, do yourself a favor and take a few packets of their chili mango candy they have at the register to go. They're amazing! read more
