First meal when touch downing in Mexico and this was very fitting. All I tried were the tacos, so I can't really speak on the other items on the menu, but it was good to say the least. I honestly think the best was the tripita, which is stomach lining, I think. Correct me if I'm wrong. So juicy and fatty and just melts in your mouth when you get through the initial crunchiness. By far, the best "tripita" taco I had. Wish I actually ordered more then just one. I tried the asada, which actually tasted like gas. Maybe I caught a wrong batch because all I can taste was the gas they use to cook it. The other one I tried was the adobabda--very blan. Like I said, maybe I caught it on the wrong day because I didn't enjoy it and had to add salt to make it tasty. Overall, the tripita is well worth the 4 stars if you love umami taste. Hopefully when I come back I'll be able to catch a better taste of meats and possibly try other things on the menu. read more

Amazing! I loved that they have so many different kinds of meat and they even had fish tacos (i didn't try them). This is the first taco stop i always make when i arrive in Ensenada/Baja. They are little bit more pricey than other taco stands but well worth it. All tortillas are made fresh. My favorite are the Pastor tacos with everything, topped off with beans....drool. I found this gem a couple years ago and have stopped here when I drive by ever since. I take groups of guys on UTV Baja tours a couple times a year and we always stop here on the way into town. The guys that have been once before always ask if we're stopping here again and the answer is always YES!! I've had the carne asada tacos (with and without queso) and they're always fresh and huge but my all time fave is the Al Pastor! I feel like a goldfish when i go because I'll eat till I pop. I keep going back to the guy like a blackjack dealer... "Hit me again" 3 at a time. this and a Coca-Light (or two and I'll leave in a food coma every time. The carnitas are also very good and I'll venture over to see that guy too on occasion. This place is typically packed and popular with travelers and locals alike so be prepared to wait. For as busy as it gets it's still surprisingly quick and still very fresh. 1/26/17 tacos were $21 pesos and with the exchange rate today it's about $1.05 American. You CAN'T beat the deal!! Parking can be a challenge especially when I bring a tour group when we all have trailers. We usually just parallel park on the southbound side of the hwy. but be courteous and don't block the driveways of the homes! The restroom is always clean, the people are friendly but I wouldn't expect them to speak English to you. Order your food from the appropriate guy because each station is essentially it's own little entity. There's the Al PAstor guy, the Asador and a couple other stations next to him for cabeza or lengua or carnitas and it seems most of the time we go the fish/shrimp lady isn't there. REMEMBER.. they all have separate tip jars so tip accordingly!!! When you tip on the first round the second round is always bigger and better!! -- that's a helpful tip right there! Eat your fill, have a beverage or two and THEN head to the cashier and let him/her know what you had and you'll be surprised at how low the bill is!! It gets my seal of approval as noted by the FIF sticker located above the Al Pastor guy on the hood. (look for these all over Baja for the "Fat Guy Seal of Approval" I'll be back soon! I freaking love this place! Both this place and flamazo are great but el flamazo has terrible organization when even slightly busy, inconsistent, they never have lengua even though its on the menu, and they're kind of like zombies personality wise. On the other hand el trailero always has lengua, kitchen runs much smoother, they accept credit cards, and they even call me princess even in pijamas which is definitely a plus since i have social anxiety and they help me feel more comfortable by doing silly dances and stuff (: As a chef i appreciate how they cover cleanliness, organization, great tacos, and customer service. So the al pastor tacos are ordered at a different place then the Birra etc. if you have a group dividing and concurring is best. The salsa is very spicy but delicious. Beware of food poisoning, even though the tacos are tasty. I live in Ensenada and have eaten at this location of El Trailero many, many times. I have taken visiting friends there too. But 3 weeks ago I went on a busy weekend day and got an adobada and shrimp taco. The next day I was violently ill, and had a fever for almost a week. My recent lab tests confirmed I had Salmonella. I am certain it was from their tacos because everything else I ate that day, I cooked at home and I had no other meat. I am sorry to have to give this review because I have loved going there, but this is a hot tourist spot and you should know to beware. Cross-contamination with food at a place that serves so many different types of tacos is very likely. I have since learned that my local friends do not recommend this place for that reason. In fact, I found out 3 other local friends also got food poisoning from them within the last month as well. So buyer beware. Try Mariscos Yiyo's instead. It's super clean and their food is delicious! We had gotten an Airbnb close to this taqueria and was referred here by a local and we couldn't have been happier to have been referred here! The tacos both Asada & Alpastor were good they had a good flavor to them, generously filled and salsas were good! They are a good size taco so they will definitely fill you up! When we went there was a line but it went by quick. We would pass by everyday we stayed in Ensenada and everyday we could see lines when we would pass. The place and the tacos itself are just perfect and the meats for the tacos are perfectly made fresh and cocked right out of the stove which just comes out fresh. The tortilla are made by hand and also just fresh and just taking a bite of the tacos and adding guacamole, onion salsa, cilantro and a squeeze of lemon, gosh it's just makes you addicted to the taste of the taco and what they add on it. This taco joint was so good that I just had to start up a page for it. Located at the cross section of Av J and Federal Hwy 1. Average prices of tacos is 19 pesos or one dollar and some change (around 20 cents due to change in conversion rates). They have various stations where you can different foods such as tacos, tortas, vampiros, etc. You order your food, chow down, and then pay at the register after. Honor system, I presume. PASTOR TACOS: The pastor tacos were unique but good. Many pastor tacos in the US are cooked until crispy but the ones here had very little charring; still, the meat was juicy and succulent and they do not skimp out on the portions. Ask them to add slices of avocado to your tacos at no extra cost. A taco costs 19 pesos or around $1.20. VAMPIROS: A crispy tortilla with melted cheese, guacamole, asada, cilantro, and onions. About the size of the tacos, greasy, cheesy, delicious. One vampiro costs 25 pesos or about $1.60. SHRIMP TACOS: Crispy pieces of shrimp in a corn tortilla with shredded lettuce, pico de gallo, onions, and white sauce. You can't go wrong with this, only costs 24 pesos or around $1.50 You can even bring your own pieces of fish to the workers that make the shrimp tacos and they will make you fish tacos at no cost. Just be sure to leave them a nice tip. I will be stopping by this place whenever I am in Ensenada for sure. Cash only, I believe. What an unbelievable disappointment. I've come here more times than I can count over the years. I stopped by around 2am tonight and ordered 6 adobada tacos and went to pay while the cook was making them. I walked back to the cook making the tacos. Once they were done, the cook walked over to the cashier and the cashier said I never paid and they wouldn't give me the tacos. I refused to pay twice, and left empty handed after being scammed out of $7 whole dollars. I honestly can't even believe that a place which allows you to pay after eating and has been so great in years past would stoop this low. The bottom line is that this place isn't as good as it was years ago, and there are better places that won't scam you all around the city. It's unfortunate but the owners either need to hire more trustworthy help or they deserve to go out of business. Pathetic, disappointing, unethical. Spend your hard earned money somewhere that deserves it. If the owners are reading this: know that I've spent thousands of dollars and have brought at least 40 people here over the years. I will never spend another peso at your shop and will make sure that every single person I know never comes back. About as good as it gets. Language: at least when we went, Spanish only. But about half of the customers are from the U.S., so plenty of help. Parking: Parking available in the back, or on the side of the street. I went on a Sunday evening, and everyone parked along the sidewalk, even though the curb was yellow. No one seemed to care. Ordering: Place orders next to the menu on the wall. Then take a place at the salsa bar and they'll bring it to you. It's a bit hectic, but our tacos found their way to us no problem. Prices: Most tacos cost 19 pesos, but the tacos are bigger than some of the other places. Style: each taco has its own style of toppings. shrimp has that cabbage-y stuff, asada comes with beans, and chorizo has a slice of avocado. Recommendations: asada is surprisingly weak. Chorizo is a bit spicy, but pretty good. Lengua costs extra, but it was the winner for me. Shrimp (icamaron) was also amazing. They didnt have fish when I went, unfortunately. I feel the food is over-priced especially since you have to go up and request the food yourself, with everyone trying to order at the same time. There is no line so as to ensure that first come first serve. Lemon, onions, etc, you have to get them yourself. The tables only have salt, and of course no waiter. I would expect for a price like this that there would be a waiter. Restrooms had no toilet paper when I went in and I mentioned it to the cashier and I'm not even sure, I think he said to use the women's restroom. I speak Spanish so there was no language barrier. The food is good though. A taco shop a few meters down does have table service, is slightly cheaper, and also taste great. read more

These huge monster tacos showed up and I immediately started devouring them. I don't know how I did it, but I managed to put them down!
