My young children have loved the class for the lively and fun atmosphere, the instruments they can play themselves and the ability to move and groove when they want to. As a parent, I love the class because each teacher is a musician and can play at least two instruments. In addition each teacher is so warm and friendly - they really enjoy what they do. The youngest ones go to class with a parent. At age 4 or 5 they go by themselves. My 5 year old is being introduced to the piano and next year she can start the recorder. The musical notes and tempos have been taught since day one although the kids may not have realized it. The school has researched music education with children extensively, however they really have their own brand when it comes to the music they teach and play. All the music is their own and the kids really connect with it. I highly recommend this school!

What follows is my best attempt to write a well informed, honest and fair review. First, and most important, the teachers at Amadeus are world-class. Most are graduates from the top music schools in the world. Not every teacher has been the best match for us personally but there is no doubt that they are well qualified professionals who know how to teach. The school also allows "trial lessons" to test out teachers to see if they are a good fit before signing up. Amadeus also has recitals that are low-pressure and fun but at the same time serve as a motivational tool and have done great things for my children's self esteem and confidence. Rescheduling missed lessons can sometimes be frustrating. This is something that in my experience has been much easier since we switched to a private teacher. The teacher turnover rate can also be an issue. I was in a situation where my child's teacher quit just as we were getting started with lessons, which resulted in a total stop of momentum and progress. The school itself is a bit rundown and somewhat messy and unprofessional looking. This wasn't a big deal for me personally but the overall ambiance of the school was a little concerning for an expensive school that calls itself a "conservatory." The waiting room is unwelcoming and often dark. The only time I've ever seen the TV in the waiting room on was when they were showing promotional commercials about the school. It's become somewhat of a running joke between me and some of the parents at the school about just how shockingly unprofessional the director is. Every week I'd be amazed at the things I'd hear her say in her own office and waiting room. Constantly whining about money, complaining about the "entitled, spoiled" mothers in town or how her competitors are "out to get her." She was always soliciting advice on how to run her own business. It did not inspire much confidence. Overall though, what makes any school great is its teachers, and that's where Amadeus really shines. So if you are can afford and and are not put-off by some if its flaws, than it could be a good choice for you.

It is the first activity she is doing without me so she cried. I had to stay with her for the first and second class. The teachers were awesome. They understand that some kids just need time. They were never pushy or rude to me. The class is in a closed door room and parents can watch the class on the outside tv. I think his works well so that kids aren't running to their parents and they can concentrate fully in class. My daughter cried for the first quarter of the year. She cried when it was time to go into the class but would stop once she was inside. The teachers never force her to participate. They would first let her observe and when she was ready on her own they would ask her to join the class. I was starting to get worried when she was still crying when she went into the class but just recently she has been going into the classroom herself and having a blast with the other girls. Vicki and her staff make all the girls so comfortable and the dance class so fun that they don't even know they are learning dance moves. The girls think they are just playing. My daughter now looks forward to dancing. An added bonus is that the parent does not have to stay in while the girls are in class. You can totally run errands for that hour or just soak in the free time. I choose to stay there but it is great to just have that time for yourself while your girl is learning and having fun. Totally recommend Vicki's dance studio for anyone looking for dance class for their little ones.
