So after about a month of scouring the internet for The One for me. Based on the spectacular reviews of this place, I decided to check it out. Once I saw Jordania's profile, I knew she is the one for me. My consult with her was great. She listened to my hopes, desires and concerns with understanding. I'm that rare natural blonde that actually wants to go brown. She was extremely thorough with explaining the process of going brunette with balayage, and even explained the even longer process to go back to blonde if I do so choose. My appointment to have my hair done was absolutely wonderful! She's so easy to talk to and just a delight! She's such a sweet and down to earth lady with remarkable hair skills. She made me feel like a beauty queen. Even the other staff around just made me feel so welcome and good about myself. Also the salon itself is beautiful. Very chic, modern, well lit and clean. Even the hair wash basins are super comfortable and didn't hurt my neck. Now I'm a brunette and I'm absolutely in love with my hair! Beautiful color and amazing texture! My hair is so soft, silky and shiny. Jordania also showed me how to used certain products to help give volume at my roots. She's an absolute darling and I just adore her and her work! I booked a non-master stylist because her profile on their website listed such impressive qualifications that I felt completely safe and confident putting my hair in her hands. Instead, the final result was a total disaster that has left me feeling incredibly upset and embarrassed by how my hair looks. I was charged $307.00 plus I tipped so the total was $368.00 for this debacle. However, they did offer to fix my hair for an additional $600-$1,000.

This place is truly an old fashioned barbershop, which is what I like so much about it (cash only). I've enjoyed hearing Mike tell the history of his shop and the relationships he has made over the years. He has had the shop since the early 1970s. When my son and I first started going there (7 years ago) it was Mike and 3 other barbers working there...now it's just Mike and Laverne. When we first started going there it was a challenge to drag my son in there for a haircut, now he willingly goes and brags about how good his hair looks afterwards. If you are the type of customer who appreciates nostalgia, no frills, and a good hair cut at a fair price ($15) this is the place for you. Also, Laverne is quite the story teller and I've enjoyed overhearing her conversations with others even if she is not cutting my hair. These types of barbershops are becoming a thing of the past, which Mike and Laverne will attest to.
