And my meat was totally burned, I couldn't eat it. The restaurant was really full and we had to wait 1 hour for our food, what is understandable, but is not worth the price. I was celebrating my wedding anniversary there and unfortunately was not a good experience, I'm not coming back!

We passed this place just about every time we walked to and fro our airbnb, and it looked cute and was almost always busy, so we gave it a shot. An older man, presumably the owner, greeted us. He didn't speak much English; we spoke no German. So in a game of charades, we managed to get seated and order a pitcher of still water. So far so good. He handed us menus that thank you jebus had English subtitles, and I quickly settled on a risotto dish with beets and veggies that sounded right up my alley, in addition to the antipasti appetizer tray we decided to start with. After placing our order, I watched as our waiter moved from table to table and realized he was the only worker in the place. It was a relatively small restaurant, maybe 10 or 12 tables between the inside and the outside, but one guy for the whole place? yikes. He brought our water quickly and took our order in good time, so I thought that maybe he's just super fast and a rock star waiter and handling the whole place by his lonesome is no biggie? And then he walked out the front door.... and I watched him pass all the outside tables... and turn a corner... and not come back. Did he just drop the mic and up and quit? Is he coming back? Is there anyone else here to bring me food, because I'm pretty hungry? A good 10 minutes later, he shows up. He resumes his work. He brought us out our appetizer, which was a tray of grape leaves, some seafood which I cant recall because I did not eat, roasted veggies, olives, cheeses, etc. It was good to okay. We had something similar a few days prior in Fuessen that was freaking magical, so it was impossible not to compare the two and I think that sandbagged my feelings a bit. We finished the tray and I saw the server walking in our direction, seemingly to pick up the empty plate. But he kept walking... all the way out the door. I watched just as I had the first time, as he left the building, passed by the diners outside, and then turn the corner out of sight. Whaaaat is going on. Long story short, this happened one more time, totaling 3 times that he just left the place unattended for 10-15 a piece. I could hear the bells from the kitchen as they completed plates to be brought out to hungry eaters. I watched as fellow diners looked around in curious frustration, waiting to get their meals or their wine or their check. It took over an hour and 15 minutes for us to get our entrees. And was it worth the wait? Not, unfortunately. My risotto was lacking something. Flavor mostly. I had to add salt to the dish just to get some kind of taste to it, and I never do that. The food was bland, the service was partially non existent and the price was too high for what we got.

I don't know how anyone could give this place less than 5 stars; if I could give it 6, I would…read more First: the food is absolutely delightful. There are tons of options, including many vegetarian ones, and I have yet to try a dish that wasn't beautifully made, with balanced, light flavors. There are lots of beans, lentils, vegetables, yogurt-based sauces, olives, cheeses, stews, bread, tea, three or four variety of starchs--rice, couscous, bulgur, etc-, burek, fried stuff, baked stuff, boiled stuff.... Sometimes, if I need to eat one meal in a day, I'll go here. Second: the people that work here come from various places--Turkey, Lebanon, Germany, Cuba...ALL of them (that I've met) are friendly, generous, and welcoming (and patient as I point at the different foods to pile my plate with!). The atmosphere of the restaurant is awesome: a clean, simple yet warm vibe, classical music playing, and a back room where you can look onto the back yard. Third: you are getting ALL of this for either 7 or 9 Euro. I come from NYC, where one can easily--and in fact often does--pay twice that amount for food half as good. SUPPORT places like this, that offer lovingly made, healthy, delicious food for good prices....this is my favorite restaurant BY FAR in the neighborhood, and there are many other good ones here. I've brought about 4 friends here and all of them have been blown away...one even told me the next day, "dude, I can't stop thinking about that restaurant!".

I was quite amazed at how much food could fit on one plate! The service was amazing & such heart-felt. I would recommend this place to anyone! Although bear in mind there is not a whole lot of space to sit.

It's nothing to be ashamed of, but often we berate ourselves for doing so. 'We're missing bits of the day! There's so much to see! We can't justify breakfast at this hour!' Perhaps not, but 1pm is a perfectly feasible time for brunch... and in this case, as opposed to it equalling a meal between breakfast and lunch, it served as a combination of the two. Hotly tipped Kültürzeit was the choice we opted for, and boy is this place great value. Not only is it decorated quirkily (you know how I dig this) and set up with a great selection of fun group tables and romantic little mini ones for two (to which they add candles... candles during the day! I love this decadence), you can choose wherever you want to be. Any apprehension we felt at being cheesy tourists at a local place was soon quashed by a) a friendly waitress who spoke to us in English and told us just what to do and b) a loud group of Aussies. We weren't alone in our rubbishness at German. So basically the deal is thus: you pay 8 euros but not until you're done, and you can attack the brunch buffet as many times as you like. Drinks are on top but this doesn't hurt in the slightest. I've always had a strange relationship with buffets - I love them at parties and in select restaurants, but sometimes they've proved godawful. This one was so far from godawful I can't even begin to heap the hyperbole upon it that it deserves. It had me at this conversation: Boyfriend (after nipping up to the buffet for the first round whilst I held the table): Could you test this out and tell me if it's onion ring or calamari? Me (munched): It's calamari. Boyfriend (calamari-hater): *Various expletives* Me: And it just happens to be the best calamari I've ever tasted. Seriously. I think it's ruined all other calamari for me. Every bit of it. In the world. Never have I not had to chew squid at least a little - this stuff just melted in your mouth. So that was there, piping hot, alongside cous cous, various fish and seafood, scrambled eggs, tuna salad, bean salad, pasta, bread, cheese, cold cuts, chicken, cereals, nutella, jam, piles more... just a brilliantly eclectic range of food that yelled, yeah, this is brunch. Deal with it. My first experience of German coffee knocked my socks clean off and the OJ was fresh and refreshing, and goodness me were we set up for the day after that meal. This is the fuel you need for sightseeing, and at less than 10 euros a pop you simply cannot complain!

Waitresses are changed every week and don't even know what beers they have on tap! The salmon dish I used to order could look different from one day to the next - and once it didn't even include salmon! And still I came back since my friend lives in the same house. We stopped going here for a year when he got a nail in his soup, nail as in the thing that grows on your fingertips. I did the mistake to start going here again a year later, but the hair in my girlfriend's pasta reminded me of what kind of place it is. (And since this is F-hain, we didn't make a fuzz about it, but rather had the usual dialogue with the waiter when we paid: "How was your food?" "Well she got a hair in her pasta, but except that it was very good, thank you." "I'm pleased to hear that.") It's easy for restaurant owners to make (or launder) money on Simon-Dach-Straße, but since you're ambitious enough to read this review, do take my advice and go elsewhere.
