I always get a little nervous going to new massage places because you never quite know what you're in for. I've burned through quite a few of the bougie mega-expensive ones nearby and also one at my gym. I've never met a massage I didn't "like" but none were stellar OR the masseuse would talk to me the whole time as if I was only interested in chatting. I also love extremely hard deep tissue massages and no one could ever really meet my expectations. WELL NOT THIS PLACE! My husband and I went in for 120 minute massages with Amy and another one of their staff and I'm never going anywhere else. It was THE BEST massage ever. Very relaxing, very thorough, and very very intensive. They really put in the effort. Very clean, direct service, hot stones, lavender scents, stretches, and even a wipe down so you don't go home all greasy. Oh also, I'm so disappointed to see 1 and 2-star reviews, but thank you for qualifying your ratings with the rationale that the massages were "too intense" or "too rough". I read those comments and immediately thought "Perfect! That's what I'm looking for!" And my suspicion was correct! They even give you a frequent buyer card! read more

Was totally taken aback by the rudeness and ungrateful reaction towards my optional tip! my service of course was paid for upfront as is their policy, but basically was hounded at the door and when I offered the money, the woman rolled her eyes, fumed, snatched my money and walked off. 3.5/5 New and clean massage place. My hubby and I got a great deal for a couples massage - $80 for 60 minutes. I requested for 2 female massages but got 1 man and 1 woman instead. My only complaint was that my massage wasn't good. I asked 5x for more pressure and to go stronger but it didn't improve. None of my knots were taken care of and I pretty much feel the same way I did when I went there. My hubby said he enjoyed his massage so I'll make sure to get a different masseuse if we decide to go back there again next time. Otherwise, it's a good, clean place with great pricing. read more

I have been coming here for years with my husband and always have a fantastic experience. I had Jimmy and my husband had Jesse. Jimmy was amazing and helped get out my knots in my back. He was professional and seemed to truly care about making me feel better. I have seen other comments where women felt they were handled inappropriately, but I did not think this was the case at all. I haven't been to Tao since pre-COVID. I went today for the first time since then to treat myself. My previous massages with Amanda were amazing - incredible! My masseuse today was Jimmy. Because of modesty issues, I was hesitant to have a male but I agreed. Jimmy is kind and very polite- so this is nothing against him personally. There was a language barrier but we got past that. Also, I know he tried his best. I asked for a medium relaxing massage. My shoulders and neck were admittedly tight - and Jimmy worked on that. Unfortunately, I have been in such incredible pain since I left the spa. I am wearing a heating pad, taking Advil and putting Bengay on my back to try to numb the pain I am in. I also felt that I was touched a bit inappropriately - given the modesty issues I mentioned previously. Asking me if it is ok if you already touched me is not ok. I'm sorry - because I want to support local businesses - but I will not be back. read more

Had a couples message, have never had one before so was excited. First connect on phone was not very accommodating to multiple times and dates asked for. Finally got an appointment for the date but she then only offered us 9am when the spa opens... Greetings where very friendly and first look was clean. Very pleased. Unfortunately it was cold I'm guessing due to us being the "first" of the day. Maybe could have put heat on in rooms before the client gets in room and has to remove clothes. All in all.. it was very routine like I could hear the other massage therapist work in conjunction together which was a bit annoying. So it was very 1 2 3 next..type of touch. Today I had a 50-minute foot massage, it was great! This was my third time at Tao, I've had a 60-minute and a 90-minute massage; all were excellent. I had a knot in my shoulder blade which the chiropractor couldn't loosen, however, it went away after a massage here. They've recently updated the spa which makes it more inviting. The staff is professional and nice. The prices are very reasonable too! Definitely worth visiting! read more

My husband and I both had massages here and it wasn't a great experience for either of us. The staff was all nice and the place seemed clean, but the massages were just too rough - and I don't just mean the pressure, the movements themselves felt too rough (too much rocking, the pounding movements, etc). We both asked for medium pressure and for the most part it was okay, but certain areas like my neck seemed too much. And combined with the above mentioned rough movements it just was not enjoyable or relaxing. Hot stones were way too hot (and I usually love heat!). I had an extremely poor experience with my massage. I was asked to pay upon arrival which I did. The therapist was extremely rough. She did not seem like she was certified at all in massage therapy. My neck is still sore three days later. She also tried to massage my eyes with her nails which was very unhygienic. She had me turn over and then pressed and prodded on my belly. Very uncomfortable and it was obvious the therapist had no idea what she was doing. Will not be back. read more

This place could easily be missed due to its location at the far end of the main drag in Glenside. Small place, clean, quiet-despite only having thick drapes opposed to doors on each massage room. I had a great experience-Amy was thorough and attentive. Two hours of bliss with excellent spa work AND hot stones. I will definitely go back. I confess-I do love a nice regroup room post massage to slowly blend back into the land of life, but the massage was good enough that I can forego that requirement. Daryl's Bakery is right next door! My husband and I came for a couples massage. The facility was VERY clean. Joy did my husbands massage and Jimmy did mine. They both were excellent. Overall they were very professional and gave awesome massages. The hot stones were amazing!! Since English is not there first language their was a very slight communication challenge but we quickly figured everything out with a couple of smiles and thumbs up. If you are a person of color I would not recommend this place. While the owner PRETENDS to be nice she is very sneaky and dismissive to African American clients. I came with a Groupon on a Saturday and was told that Groupons aren't accepted on Saturday and that I would need to make an appointment during the week. I did not have a problem with that so I stayed and PAID for my massage and made an appointment for later in the week. When I came back to use my Groupon that was gifted to me, I got my massage. When I was finished I was told my Groupon was for 30 mins and when I double checked it later it actually was for 50 mins. The young lady asked if I wanted more time during the massage and I said yes but the times did not match up. I was only there for an hour and 10 mins and was charged an additional $30. When I called to let the owner know the next morning she laughed as if what I said was a joke. When I inquired about the time differences, she quickly changed the story saying that I got a 50 minute massage with and additional 30 mins. When the night prior she made it clear it was 30 mins because I couldn't get my reward card stamped unless it was a full hour. I say all this to say, I don't mind paying for a service but don't change prices and times and insult my intelligence and laugh at me when I bring it to your attention. This spa is awesome! My friends booked a spa day for me to celebrate my upcoming nuptials. Amanda was very accommodating to me and my girls. They were extremely extremely friendly, very nice staff. Horrible experience. I used my groupon to get a 50 minute massage. I called 5 times to set an appointment and each time the owner would not set an appointment for me right then and there, but always said she would call me back. She never called me back, as I always had to call to follow up. I finally set an appointment for midday and repeatedly told her I was using a groupon during our phone conversations. Upon arrival the owner stated that she did not take groupons. She also came out of a little room where I assume she was giving a massage, with the hot stones in her hands. Is that normal protocol?? She stated groupons were not accepted and that I had to schedule a new time for a massage. She also stated that I did not call her to tell her that I was using a groupon. I then showed her my phone log, showing the t times I called her and tbe time duration of each call. She made us feel very incompetent,small, and as though we were liars.
