Classes get really full and it is quite annoying to try and get to hot yoga half an hour before the class starts or you won't get a decent spot. Also the schedule for hot yoga classes is almost back to back which doesn't make any sense because there are not that many hot yoga classes they have to begin with, so they should consider leaving some open time between classes so people are not walking right into the filth of previous sessions and also not waiting around in advance to get a space for the next class to begin. Management can do a better job in organizing these classes. Instructors are excellent though.

I was told they WOULD NOT cancel it and I would be a no show. I questioned why she wouldn't cancel it so someone could get that spot, the child only said it was policy!!!! For about a year and 1/2 WE, a group of ladies who take Zumba classes, have been attempting to get the scheduling staff to put in an extra class in the daytime. The Monday and Thursday morning classes are packed, last weeks class had 50 participants. We have all signed a sheet twice and passed it on to scheduling staff (one woman) who did not get back to us, but in fact accused the "instructor" of meddling, she had nothing to do with it. She actually said "It is against COMPANY POLICY to sign a petition". And, I was told that my membership could be cancelled for pursuing this. I called Kitchener, where the "scheduler" works and requested a call back about 6 times. I never got a response. I spoke to several people explaining that our Tuesday (Zumba) class was removed and replaced with a "cardio" class taught by.....the scheduler. Isn't that a conflict of interest? She refused to put another zumba instructor in that time slot even though we've been monitoring that class and often there are only 3 or 4 attendees. I have even called LA Los Angeles and the person there said he would take it up with Management. That was 4 months ago. NEVER have I had to contact an organization to this extent with absolutely NO results, no phone call, no explanation, no customer service. This is totally unacceptable and I'm going to keep on pursuing this until we get results. Please respond if you've had a similar challenge.

The cleanliness of this gym is honestly unacceptable. I've been coming here for about three weeks…read morenow, and the same buildup of dirt and grime on the floors has not changed at all during that time. I even overheard a cleaner say there was "no point" in washing the floors because people come in with dirty boots--which is concerning and not an acceptable standard for a paid gym facility. The washroom doors are visibly dirty, the machines look like they haven't had a proper deep clean in a very long time in years and the mats upstairs are especially bad. There is significant debris stuck between them, and it's clear they've never been lifted and cleaned properly. For the cost of membership, basic hygiene and routine deep cleaning should be expected. At the very least, cardio machines should be properly cleaned out on a regular basis monthly should be the bare minimum. I'm not sure if this location is operating on a lower budget, but members are still paying full price and deserve a clean, well-maintained environment. Other locations (like Vega) clearly have higher cleaning standards, and this gym would benefit from adopting the same practices. If anyone knows who to contact about these concerns, please comment.

As a parent I sat and watched the class in the nice open dojo (not like some of the other dojos we visited where parents are kept behind glass, or worse - not allowed to watch at all!) and was really impressed with the varied, challenging, and fun exercises he was doing. The children's instructors at this dojo are really quite genius at getting the kids involved, keeping them engaged, and teaching respect and discipline. After a year we noticed a big difference in my son - he was more focused at home and at school (yes, even at only six years of age!) and he was always ready to go to karate. After watching on the sidelines for a couple years I finally decided it was time to join the dojo myself. I can tell you that this is not a McDojo. The head instructor, Sensei Tetsuji Nakamura, is the chief instructor of the International Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karatedo Federation (I.O.G.K.F.) and holds a seventh degree black belt. Other instructors are similarly highly ranked and they have truly earned their positions. This is a place where you work hard to move up the ranks... don't expect a black belt in one year! However, it is also a friendly and welcoming place where there is a real sense of community. I have been a student at Shudokan for six years now and have loved every minute of it!

Top all that off with beautiful decor, fully stocked showers, a sauna, heated tile floors and vanity mirrors that include hair dryers and all sorts of creams, and you have a really nice experience, both during and after your workout.
