    Ginger beer - $8

The wait staff were friendly and seated us without a reservation at the bar. We ordered from the bar and paid at the counter. I recommend getting a minimum of 3 dishes per person because the servings are quite small. The food is delicious and bursting with flavor. It's a small space but didn't feel crowded. Limited outdoor seating available. I recommend making reservations in advance. I would definitely come back again!

Great spot for lunch. Lovely staff, excellent food! GF and vegan options available, nice sake menu.

Tanoshi is an izakaya Japanese restaurant in Queenstown NZ, it's almost speakeasy-like, as we had real difficulty finding this place, but once we did it was all worth it. This place is arguably tiny just like many izakaya restaurants I've been to. They can only accommodate several guests at a time, we even insisted that we just be seated at the bar and we just squeezed ourselves in. Since we were seated at the bar, we actually saw how the chef prepared the dishes, one after another. We started with a cold sake with beef yakiniku, we then had Japanese pancake, crispy chicken wings, seared salmon and seared rib eye. It all came in small portion like tapas but we felt filled, happy yet not feeling bloated. It maybe hard to find or may take a few minutes wait but it was worth all the trouble, a must place to dine while in Queenstown!

Service was good, staff were courteous but food was very average. Presentation was ok, but nothing to rave about. Beef skewers were over seasoned, scallops ok but nothing to write home about and noodle disk was overly oily. I wouldn't go out of my way to go again as there are other options in the town. Overall the culinary experience was disappointing given the reviews of others. We were a party of three and none of us felt it lived up to the expectations outlined by other reviewers.

They are super small, so if you just walk in, chances are you won't get a table. We went for dinner. The food is surprisingly good for this town, as we weren't expecting much. Service is minimal and they don't do take outs. Portion is small.

Legit. I'm glad we stumbled into this place. All the dishes were excellent. Super friendly service that totally put up with my annoying drunk question about the bishonen ginjo really tasted like bishonen (for the record, it was smooth). Arigatou gozaimasu x 2

Shouyu ramen. Slow simmered soy pork. $15

Just came here on my lunch break. The shouyu ramen pork belly is really really good. You can definitely tell it has been slow simmered. They just opened and I've added the hours and the business. The owner is Chris. If you come here the feel us definitely a quick stop spot to eat. You can sit at the bar or on the side at the high tables. I will come here again.

Sushi was unmemorable. Portion sizes were small (by American standards). We had to go get Hokey Pokey ice cream after dinner.

Great Japanese food. Very original. You can try something other than sushi here. Gyu-tataki, you deserve it.
