I moved from SLC near the Tanner Clinic off Antelope Dr. I didn't have any expectations as all medics seem overwhelmed in 2024. I left a comfortable provider but through insurance I was allowed to research my own provider and took a chance on Oliva Bently. This amazing individual was honest with me (she had no idea how to treat this unique problem) LOL -but prepared me for that. This awesome doctor took time to discuss my symptoms without gaslighting or dismissing my opinion of what is happening. This kind professional suggested specialists for my problem and offered pre - authorizations for that help. When my daughter went to the same Tanner clinic they hooked her up with a professional who was thorough, understanding, and kind. Its been years since my adult daughter had someone like Megan however, after just a few visits Megan moved - Ugh- starting over soon. read more

I have been coming to Tanner Clinic since I got diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer 7 years ago, The Dr that removed my thyroid was great, The first endocrinologist was fine but never listened to me when i said i didn't fell right or was gaining weight so after my 5 yr marker I went to a female Endo, I thought she listened to my concerns but a couple months after I went in to turn in FML papers and # for my insurance to take care of a prescription I was denied, her Receptionist Joy was the rudest person I have ever encountered she was snippy with me so I forgot to put my info on the FML papers when I call 2 days later to see if the paper work was done I called at 4 and got a call back at 4:30 she said They didn't know who I was because I forgot to put my name down, but then went ahead and told me my request was denied, I asked why since I have an autoimmune and my thyroid was gone. she said ask another Dr to do cause the answer was no, I go to an endocrinologist for this issue why would i see another Dr. and with my weight lost request she said the insurance didn't know what she was talking about, I was on the phone with for 45 min there is no way she called them that quick, she was rude from the moment i encountered her till i finally hung up on her. its too bad that your receptionist can make a seemly good Dr lose her patience she shouldn't be in this profession if you can't treat people with kindness. read more

The worst experience I have had with another person was here. I was nervous going in to see the Dr and was trying to hand the nurse my insurance card. She ignored me for a good bit then looked up and snapped at me saying she had not asked for my card. I stood there embarrassed for a few then she said "NOW ILL TAKE YOUR CARD". I felt like a reprimanded child, I was so out of it I handed her my credit card. She took the card and flung it back at me saying "this isn't your insurance card, do you not have insurance???" My self and my husband have recently been seen at Tanner Clinic. The doctors were nice the same as office staff. Our problem is they say they use Lab Corp for blood draws. Our insurance covers 100% of blood draws with Lab Corp or Quest labs. What they don't tell you is they process as many things as they can in house so insurance dosent cover it. What would have been covered by insurance is now costing us over $300. They also have a sign in their lab that says they use Lab Corp and to let them know if your insurance dosent cover Lab Corp...However they DO NOT tell you that what tests they can run in house will be done so and most likely will not be covered by insurance. My husband even asked them if they run the blood through Lab Corp and was told yes, as the sign said. Be carefully with any blood draws from this clinic. read more

The doctor and pa were nice but the pa micro, micro managed the amount from month to month, one month giving more, the next month giving less depending on how many were left over each time. Problem is, when he would decrease the amount, I would take more than anticipated and almost run out the next time. Also, during Covid, they said I had to come in twice a month because they wanted to make sure I was doing ok. If they were concerned about my well-being, then why was a co-pay required and I had to go in to the office? I worked with the lab over a week to make arrangements for my special-needs son to come in and get his blood drawn. He needs help being held down and he needs to be addressed quickly. I made arrangements with the manager to come in in the morning when I got there the staff had no idea what was going on and Ryan was not even there I came at the time that Ryan recommended They made us wait for a very long time and then they added people in mind for ahead of us. I've been a patient with Tanner Clinic for more than 5 years, and after one too many issues in the last year I'm sad to say that I'm done with them. I have no idea what changed but the last year administration there seems to be falling apart. The final straw for me was tonight when I called the pediatric urgent care line for an emergency with my toddler. I wasn't sure if I needed to go to the ER with him, and I called in a panic. The lady said to call the regular Tanner clinic line because they were open until 9. I called the number she gave me and it said it was after hours even tho it also said they were open until 8 pm (it was 745). I called the emergency line back , knowing I had used it last year and they helped me. The person was the same woman who answered, and she had zero empathy, zero compassion. I tried to explain to her the line had a recording that said it was after hours and that I couldn't reach anyone. I was confused bc she told me they were open til 9, the number she gave me said it was open til 8, and regardless I couldn't get anyone on the phone. When I tried to explain this to her she kept disagreeing with me-- missing the entire point when I clearly stated this is something I'm not sure if I need to take my kid to the ER, begging for help and she just said "I don't mean to be rude but I'm not going to argue with you I'm going to have to end this call." If you are at your place of employment and have to start your sentence with "I don't mean to be rude" just know whatever you say to follow that is rude. I ended up calling Wee Care Pediatrics, a place I'd never been to before w my kid and they had me on the phone w a nurse in 5 mins, and answered my questions. I'll be switching over to wee care pediatrics for my kid and as for me I'll never set foot in Tanner clinic pediatrics again. Which is a shame because the drs are truly great. But the staff over the last year has declined so rapidly it's not worth it. I won't risk not being able to reach someone when they say it's an emergency line but the person is a downright jerk. read more

I've been scheduled for two procedures by the same doctor at the same time. I've been getting calls and messages from four different phone numbers each telling me something different. They scheduled me for the procedure at Holy Cross when I had already been scheduled at the South Ogden office. I was asked for insurance info when I had already sent copies of my card, front and back. I've had 10 calls from a number that is listed as a dr's name at Tanner Clinic and when I finally got in touch with that phone number, they said they haven't called me My phone records show they did. They asked for a referral from my doctor. My doctor sent it on Nov 11th. I called the Drs office. They're going to send it again. I've had texts from three different numbers. Different messages, repeat messages and then the calls. No one can give me an answer as to who was texting me or why I have been getting so many messages. This has been going on since November 4th. Today I finally got a call from the doctors office that is doing the procedure And was told to disregard the calls and messages from the number that is not theirs. They do not know who has been contacting me. When I've called the numbers they referred to Tanner Clinic. This has been the worst experience I've ever had and Tanner Clinic won't own up to anything. I say get your employees on the same page so they know who's calling who and review a patients records before making a repeat call over and over. read more

I had been seeing Dr Mark Lenthe for well over a decade and he is a very nice doctor who cares about his patients. But his office staff are some of the most rude and insensitive "professionals" I've ever had the misfortune of interacting with. It's like they have no idea what the actual purpose of their jobs are outside of speaking to people like confused toddlers with no capability or want/will to assist you. They will blame you for their mistakes, and you will likely go without necessary medication fairly regularly because they just can't bring themselves to do their jobs. Called to talk with patient accounts concerning bill. Advised that I have a receipt for a visit that I was billed for. Was advised that they would credit account to show co payment paid. I advised that another charge was paid at time of service, advised did not receive receipt. I told the person that I was speaking with that co pays are not being applied to accounts correctly. I advised that I was not going to pay current bill because it was already paid at time of setvice. I was hung up on. Make sure to always get a receipt of any payments made. This place was great for my kids, bit adults should find a different doctor. I was battling a sore throat and cold symptoms. They told me my diagnostic was "normal." Dr. Lindsay was rude and impatient. I actually went to my local U of U clinic and was diagnosed with Influenza per a test. They didn't even do a test at Tanner. I would avoid this clinic at all costs. My kids have been seen here for a while with good results. That is why they get one star. read more

So I am someone who struggles with mental health and am meeting with tanner clinic's behavioral Health unit and they have a really strict no show/cancellation Policy where you have to cancel 1 business day in advance and if you cancel the day of you get charged $125 which is outrageous because even if you are sick they will still charge you. I woke up the night before my appointment and had a sore throat and so I did some research about if they would make an exception seeing as I'm sick and could be contagious but nope they won't make an exception for absolutely anything. I feel like they should really chill with this policy because things happen that make it to where you can't make the appointment, I feel like they should at least make a few exceptions for canceling or no shows. Their doctors prescribed me a bunch of antipsychotic pills as an underage girl and a couple years later after finally seeing a psychologist and after trying to take my own life it turns out I was on a bunch of wrong medications that were messing with my head and making me more depressed. Went to urgent care for pain in my leg and it looked like when i got there I had a huge bruise on my front calf. After I got home, another lady (Caleena Longworth (MD) ordered a ultrasound (because I had a hard time walking) for next day and Joshua Told, (DO) told me that the ultrasound was inconclusive and they couldn't tell if i had a blood clot or not so they just put me on blood thinners (xarelto) JUST IN CASE. I asked him what happens if I don't even have a blood clot and he said "well i cant foresee the future". He should have ordered a new ultrasound instead of just putting someone on blood thinners for the hell of it. This has been a fiasco!! Would NEVER see this dr again. If you are going on blood thinners, you are scared of what else could happen and he couldnt care less and said he cant foresee the future....NO SHIT!! read more

The Caregivers at this facility are as good as anywhere else, but the Website and patient portal is the WORST that I have had to deal with. Through the Patient Portal you can find out if you have an appointment coming up, but it doesn't even list who the appointment is with. You cannot reschedule or cancel an appointment in the Portal and that's a problem if you have an appointment Monday Morning and you need to Cancel it and it is on a weekend after hours. They cause their own problems with the poor patient portal. The Portal is also littered with continuos "Health Data Summaries" that are not even pertinent. And trying to make an appointment on the phone is an effort in futility. You immediately get put on hold that lasts forever. The online appointment making is limited and rarely works. The website is not easy to navigate or understand either. Hire a new website management team Tanner! read more

Just a heads up for local people (and also seeking any advice) - Tanner Clinic in Layton - I went to see an ENT doctor for pain behind my ear. I was in the doctor's office for less than ten minutes and he diagnosed it as a migraine and told me to take aspirin and keep the area cold (he was 100% right). No other tests were run. That was it. I am between insurance at the moment, so when I made the appointment, I told them and they said it would be $115 for the office visit. I paid the entire amount with my HSA card. Today I received a bill for $50. FOR WHAT? I told the billing department that I paid the entire amount upfront and no further tests were done. They can't just make up an extra fee for nothing! If they had told me it was $165 up front I would've grumpily paid it and said nothing else. But this is frustrating! How can they tell you an office visit is $115, have you pay all of that (with no talk of anything else), and then send you a bill for MORE?!?! If I buy a shirt from Target for $30 and then two days later they send me a bill for $20 more for the shirt, does that make any sense? And yes, I realize this is a first-world problem and I could just pay it and go on with my life, but this "extra billing" crap has got to stop SOMEWHERE, right? read more

Tanner Clinic's billing office is atrocious! The medical staff and physicians that I have seen over the years have been great. I have routinely given their staff a 5/5! For their professionalism, quality of care, genuine respect, and level of care provided in their Allergy and Asthma specialty clinic. But the billing office, they leave a sour taste in the mouth that lasts for years. I've had dozens of claims submitted to the insurance that are incorrectly coded, and requires extensive back and forth with the insurance and their billing and accounts staff. This coupled with receiving bills for dates of service going back years! In 2023 I received no less than three bills for dates of service in 2020-21. It is incredibly frustrating to have to come up with funds because I cannot use current year FSA funds to pay backdated bills. Then I get Explanations of Benefits for claims submitted by Tanner Clinic that the EOB's say that I am not responsible for the charges amount because they didn't pre-authorize the procedure. And Tanner Clinic's billing office refuses to resubmit using the correct billing codes, or remove the erroneous charge from the account, so then when you make a payment with a FSA card, the FSA administrator retroactively declines to cover the charge to the FSA card, on the basis that Tanner Clinic's billed amount doesn't match with the patient responsibility for a given service date's Explanation of Benefits. You think that's bad, just wait until you receive a bill from another provider at Tanner Clinic for participation in one of their healthcare studies... that you were told could cost up to $35/month but rather are billed for far more per month. Despite having record of the verbal contract that the charge would be up to $35/month the billing office refuses to hold up their end of the contract. The latter is the straw that is causing me to search for another Asthma and Allergy provider that is a fraction of the quality of Rocky Mountain Allergy at Tanner Clinic. My providers there have been great! But the never ending billing fiascos is driving me away. read more

They forgot about me (their words were passed over on accident) for over an hour. I sat in my car for 90 minutes in December. Then the PA didn't ask about my preexisting conditions that relate to the treatment I would need. She didn't even ask follow up questions. Then she forgot to add one of the test to the order. I paid my $30 copay and today they sent me a bill where they didn't bill my insurance. Just me. I had to come back inside at minute 15 because the office person needed another scan of my card. Dr. Farnsworth saw me for an ear infection. Gave me a prescription for an antibiotic that I had a severe reaction to. I was up all night vomiting with diarrhea! I called first thing the next morning to get a different antibiotic. I was assured the doctor would get back to me. Meanwhile my ear is killing me! No response from clinic even though I called 2 more times to remind them. So the next morning I called, there was a recording that they would be closed for the next 2 days! This is unacceptable!!! They asked for feedback, but did not respond to my messages or phone calls so I'm leaving it here. i see they have an overall rating of 2 Stars, and I have to agree with that rating. The receptionists were unengaged and tried to tell me they could not take care of me....even though I had cleared my appointment with the medical staff and had taken time off work. When I find was seen by the nurse, she barely acknowledged me, did not respond to my symptoms or previous experience with this treatment, and had injected me before I could look up and sent me on my way. There was not concern for a patient or bedside manner. I'll be looking for a new clinic soon. This is not the way to run a clinic or treat the public. read more

I received a bill from the billing department at Tanner Clinic, Layton, Utah, in December 2022. I live overseas so tried to pay my bill online. Card came back declined.I called my bank and verified all my cards were good with no holds or issues. Tried again to pay online, again declined. Called the billing office and sat on hold for 40 minutes before hanging up. I called back several times and was put on hold because they taking care of other callers. Called several more times during the following weeks prior to Christmas. Left messages and provided phone number, email address with billing, patient advocates and supposedly a supervisor. No response from anyone. Called again today, 1-4-2023, same non-response from billing, called the operator and provided my phone number and account information again. I have heard nothing. Tried to find an email for their CEO, however that is not provided. If I ever get to pay the bill, it will be the last time I ever deal with them! read more

I have been seeing an endocrinologist at Tanner Clinic and have been managing my thyroid and diabetes. The doctor left to go somewhere else and they transferred my patient account to Jennifer Greene. I was very disappointed by the new doctor. She was very dismissive of my new symptoms during my visit and dismissed it to something else rather than doing the necessary tests from her side. I regularly have lot of bloodwork and while fasting and she did very little of this. She also recommended that she really didn't want to help manage everything because it was "normal". I went to my PCP and she did do the necessary bloodwork to find out I have developed Hashimoto's and need follow up with my kidneys. Her profile says she is very personable with patients but this is absolutely not close to being the truth. read more

I will not reveal his name as of now, set me up to get a Holter monitor but no one has tried to contact me. I have called and only get recordings, I leave a message but still no call back, I even set up a patient portal for direct contact with my Dr. but they recently updated the portal and took it upon themselves to erase all the messages I had between my Dr. and myself about my concerns. It has now been a month and the sensations are still with me. The place I came to help me has sadly now failed me. My family have in the past have relied on Tanner Clinic for our health care needs and they have been great! However, my wife went in to see Dr. Burtenshaw in the Syracuse clinic today. He diagnosed her with a sinus infection and was supposed to call in a couple prescriptions for her, he forgot! We called his MA and no record for a prescription was on her chart, so again he forgot again. We finally had to go to a Tanner Urgent care, pay another $40 copay, get reexamined so my wife could get the meds she needed. Dr. Burtenshaw is usually really good, but today he dropped the ball! Hopefully Tanner Clinic refunds our second copay since it was their doctor that didn't do what he said he would do. Anyway, we will still go back there for future care. Trying to get ahold of anyone in this clinic is a joke. I have severe insomnia and depression, and have found medications that have worked for me for the past several years. A few years ago I had to switch to a new doctor here, and went in to get my prescriptions refilled. My new doctor at this clinic - without naming names - told me that I didn't need these medications, particularly for insomnia and depression, and that I just needed to change my "life habits" and "not read or watch tv before bed in my bedroom" - basically "it's all in your head". He didn't have any empathy at all for what people with depression go through. Fast forward a few years, I sent in a refill request online for my meds. A few days went by and I received no response. By now I was almost out of my meds. I called the clinic and was told I needed to send in a refill request online. I informed them that I already did that, they transferred me to my doctors office. No one answered, even though it was during their office hours. I left a message. Two days later, still no response. I called the doctors office again - again no answer and I left a message. By this point I'm off my meds and am suffering some unpleasant withdrawal symptoms. I emailed them directly, called and left several messages, no answer. I called the main line, all they could do was take a message for me. Finally about a week after I sent in my online request, I get a call from one of the doctor's receptionists. She says in order to refill my prescription I need to make an appointment. I ask when I could get in, she says "his next available appointment is April 14" -- over FOUR WEEKS away. I asked if he had any emergency appointments that would be sooner, because I really need my prescriptions, it's dangerous to just go cold turkey. She said no. I asked if they could send me enough emergency meds to just cover til my next appointment, she said they could give me 3 days worth. At this point I just said nevermind, hung up, and have transferred all my medical records to Ogden clinic. I will not be going back. I do not recommend Tanner Clinic at all. read more

HEALEY, at Tanners clinic in Layton, makes his patients come in every time they need to refill a prescription, after calling his office/nurse and asking for a refill on something I have to take forever, and works for me! She raised her voice and talked over me! ( this has happened more than once) but he calls me disruptive and uncooperative! So unprofessional!! They tell me he wants me to come in or he won't refill my prescription, it's not needed, it's the same medicine, same issues, nothings changed and it works for me, but still asks me to come in for an appointment! I must of seen him 5-6 times in a years time! That cost money! I do believe he try's to get his patients to come in often to collect $$! I quit going to this place personally about 12 years ago. It was awful then and is even worse now. We took all our business elsewhere except for one Doctor. My kids like him for one specific area of medicine so we decided to put up with their, what I consider to be, inhumane business practices. I finally took my kids out of this horrible place yesterday. And will be going to the U of U, which is just astoundingly wonderful. I don't want to Dox people so I won't use names, but from the top down almost everyone I have ever dealt with ( and I mean that literally) are rude, cruel, and mean. There is no compassion from almost anyone there, with the exception of Two Doctors. Even then they were restricted by what I can only surmise is administrative tyranny. Look at all the comments here about the billing department, and more, and not one of them (that I can find) is challenged. Most businesses will challenge things they think or know are wrong on the internet. Not here, not in this case. Every bad thing and more I have read about I believe to be true based on my own personal experience with them. As medical professionals they took an oath, and that oath is not being fulfilled here. Not for me and mine. This is the type of atmosphere that is cultivated from the top down. I feel bad for the people that have to work in a place that is so miserable that you have to take it out on PATIENTS! The only way I would ever visit this place again is if it were the last place on Earth. One example of their petty cruelty is they refused to fill a life saving medicine for my child. Aldrich is not LGBTQ+ friendly and refused to see my spouse for hormone replacement therapy. Additionally, I was given poor instructions on where to go and was late to my appointment. He refused to see me without asking any questions. Other clinics I have been to were far more empathetic and willing to have a conversation rather than be dismissive about it. read more
