The classroom portion was very thorough and combined with dry firing, which really helped reinforce what we were learning in real-time. One thing I really appreciated was being able to use their gear at no extra cost--just had to bring ammo but there was ammo available for purchase. The attention to detail was top-notch, and both instructors took the time to break everything down so that everyone, regardless of experience level, could keep up and feel confident. It's extremely important to see the instructor shoot--and man, Hunter was great! Watching him in action gave us all a clear standard to aim for and showed he truly practices what he teaches. I'll definitely be coming back for more of their courses. Highly recommend!

There are several qualities which Hunter and the Small Arms Combatives CCH Course have which make…read moreit the best choice for those looking to take a course, but to keep this review short here are two: First is Hunter's candor, no bones about it attitude, and his obvious expertise. He teaches a lifestyle, not a class per se. Making the choice to become a protector (either yourself or others) by concealing a weapon is not an easy one, and may result in a life or death struggle. Hunter prepares you to face this possibility with a combative mindset. Second is the design of the course. You will spend time learning skills and performing drills which you may use in a real world situation. A course should not only teach you what to do, but how to do it... and ideally how to practice for any situation that may arise. Here is something that is obvious to me but it must not be to others....You cannot learn best handgun practices and techniques by shooting 40 times at a target. Think about all the things you can do 40 times and still suck at it (lifting weights?). You need to put a ton of rounds down range. Any other course is inadequate for this reason, you simply don't shoot enough. This is a long review, but the Small Arms Combatives CCH Course was thoughtfully designed and I thought it appropriate to reflect that in my review. This is the only class I will recommend for my loved ones to take because it will prepare them to stay alive in the event that something horrible happens. It's perfect for a new gun owner, or someone who is not very experienced with firearms, but it's still the best choice for someone with more experience like myself.

Going to type this while It is fresh. I figured I would go to the this range for an hour of…read moreshooting. I have been here at least a few times, the last time was earlier this year. This time was way different. Upon approaching the desk and announcing that I wanted to use the range. I was asked if I had a black card. Not sure what that is for. They checked if I was in their database because I said that I had been there before. I am not sure how I feel about being in anyone's database. Signing a range safety brief and waiver for a range is a normal thing but the video they have you watch is tailored to newer shooters. They list only three safety rules when everyone knows there are four standard range safety rules (four for the last 30 years of using ranges). The video repeats itself many times, like I said it is for newbies. Then it came time to fill out the waiver. The standard range language was in there. Then a section on COVID as if that is any concern at the range. I suppose a waiver like this should be used at every restaurant as well. Filling out my information at the end of the waiver I stopped to ask if they needed my email. I was told it was to send the waiver to me. I asked why they needed my address. All these data points are marked as required. I stopped and left because no gun range needs to collect my personal information and add it to a database. Buyer beware this place has a new policy of collecting your information and admittedly entering that information in a database. Their explanation is that lawyers make them do it. I say that you should go anywhere else that does not require your address and put you in a database. In an age of illegal immigrants that nobody has addresses for this is a warning sign.
