I feel like I finally found someone who understands my hair and has ideas about how to cut it in a flattering way. My hair is thinning at the top and was thicker in the back and one side grew thicker than the other around my ears. The first time I came in, Tayler looked at my hair and immediately pointed out how she could cut it to even out the differences in the thickness. Now it looks smooth and even from top down to the bottom of the back, whereas before it looked thick and bunched up at the base of the neck in back. Tayler was also willing to stay as long as it took so I could get what I wanted. She did a great job at understanding the color I wanted and highlighting my hair to get the right tone. The first two times I got my hair colored (which was at two different salons) I was dissatisfied with the color. But I was very pleased with the result of this coloring and style. Ok, so this is going to be a long story of my experience. I don't normally do this, but hair is important. You can get over a bad meal and move on, but a haircut takes months to grow out, or years. And the emotional damage is forever. In short, if you have normal hair, this place is just fine. I have very long, very thick, wavy hair. We just moved to town and I got recommendations for Kara. When I called, she is no longer taking new clients. I told the lady about my hair and asked for another recommendation. I was scheduled with Salina, I was told she would be great, and also has hair curly hair. Well, here we go: Atmosphere: outdated. Reminds me of the salons in the mall from 15 yrs ago. Lots of white and bright beauty lights, like a fashion show. Also, they actually have TVs everywhere with terrible fashion shows on repeat. Are they even current? I was also told I was free to serve myself a complimentary beverage in the other room. Ya, I thought I was going to a salon, not a car dealership. So I waited 20 minutes for Salina to appear. When she finally did, there was no explanation or even a mention of her tardiness. I literally almost left 15 min in and wish I had. She did NOT have curly hair, she said her sister does...so the reception lady lied. The initial consult went well. I told her how I like my haircuts. Long layers with some framing around the face. My hair is very thick, but the strands are fine, so length is what keeps it from being puffy. She seemed confident she could do the cut similar to how it already was so we headed to the hair wash station. This was the most painful tub I've ever used. No padding at all on the basins. My next was killing me the whole time. The water was cold and the products did not smell that great. Apparently they have their own special product. Special. She only took off the ends before the blow dry, like we talked about. But then.... It took her 30 minutes to blow dry my hair and then another 15 to straighten with a flat iron. I should have left then and there. I have not used a flat iron since 2005. With a proper blow out my hair will be perfectly smooth in 20 minutes. So now that I have stick straight skinny flat hair, she proceeds with the cut. She took out a ton of hair with shorter layers. Not at all what I asked for, and did not blend enough so there is a lot of choppy texture. Also, she talked the whole time which was fine, but she kept stopping her work to do so. By the time she was finished I had been there almost 2 hours, and was worried about being late to pick up my kids. She is apparently the highest level of stylist, and has something like 13 yrs experience. I guess that isn't enough. The final bill was so silly, it was like $60. Very inexpensive for an experienced stylist, but obviously I didn't think she was worth even that anyway. My old stylist cost twice that and was worth every bit of it. I will never come back here. Now I have to use a flat iron to make my hair not fluffy at home. It will take me about a year to grow this out. I already scheduled my next hair appointment somewhere else. Agree with the 2 previous reviewers, BL & Keri. Tangles is THE overhyped, overpriced place to go in Wichita Falls. I had gone in for a color glaze. Afterward, the color was still not quite right. I called to have it fixed. My stylist was not available. I was told she is booked out 8-12 weeks ahead (seriously?! In Wichita Falls?! And no it wasn't the Super Star owner). So they recommended another of their "very good" stylists to correct the color. I had "partial" lowlights done (and when I say partial I'm talking probably 10 or 12 foils). For me, Tangles feels a bit mechanical. Appointments are booked tight to maximize profit. You are moved back & forth between assistant, to stylist so the stylist can do more people while you wait. I felt like I should be on a conveyor belt with $$ on my head. So to recap: 1) The color is not done correctly on the first visit, but is closing time. I will have to come back to get it done. 2) I go back to get it fixed and it's "passable" but still not really right -- but I get the "why don't you live with it for a few days and let us know" talk. 3) My consult both times involved the stylist hurriedly running over to chat with me, saying this is what I'm going to do (her opinion), then running back to her other client. The second time my stylist talked to other stylists about what she should do instead of what I wanted. And this is the top salon in Wichita Falls? So, imagine my shock when I went to the counter on my return visit to find I'd been charged yet ANOTHER $70 -- what salon charges to fix their mistakes??? After all of this, they CHARGED me $70 to fix their bad color. Yeh, that's right. So within the period of a week with I spent nearly $150 at Tangles, "the premier salon" in WF for poorly done, unsatisfactory color. No hair cut was involved & not even a blow dry on the first trip. I went out the door on a chilly windy day with wet hair because it was a Friday and I guess everyone was busting a gut to get out the door. The first time my color was done there, it washed out within 3 weeks (and I even bought their fancy "save your hair color products). This was another "Tangles" $150 color experience. So my advice: if you have money to blow and don't mind your color only lasting 3 weeks, Tangles might be the place for you. I have to wonder if their system is working so well why they always have so many blocks of open appointment times? The prices? The snooty attitudes? Color that comes out in 3 weeks? I've given Tangles a couple of tries. I've given them a couple of chances to wow me somewhere with color, service or a smile, but I can't find any reason to recommend them or justify their prices. I'm moving on. At these prices -- in Wichita Falls -- no can do. read more

My stylist was wonderful. Spent a lot of time to make sure that I was pleased with the end result. However, the price tag was ridiculous. I've been to salons in downtown Chicago and New York City that cost less! When I called to make the appointment, I was told it would be $110 for color w/highlights, cut, and style. I have been going to Tangles Salon in Wichita Falls for approx. 15 years. Kara is my stylist and she is the absolute best! Kara always goes the extra step in making sure my hair is just what I ask for. At times I want it longer and other times shorter. I went yesterday and ask for a shorter cut since I had not been able to have my hair styled since the Covid-19 shut down. Kara did just what I asked and I love the way my hair looks and feels. My husband kept telling me how good my hair looked and my daughter (over face time because she lives in the DFW area) was even impressed! I just moved to town so finding a salon that meets my expectations was a scary feat but I did it. The stylist had a very similar hair style to mine which made me feel confident, especially in the color. The cut made me nervous because she was so quick but it turns out she's just very efficient which was great. She followed my directions on touching up my grays and the color matched perfectly. I don't give many reviews but when you see other reviews that don't even come close to what you see or experience, it's worth getting a second opinion in. TWO DAYS before my appointment I get a call asking me if I'd be willing to reschedule my appointment to allow some one of importance take MY spot. I said No, just cancel my appointment. She starts back tracking, saying oh no! I'll move some other stuff around then. I said, "No, I will go elsewhere." i made an appointment and arrived on my scheduled time, my roommate and i went in at the same time and they started on her. when i asked 15 after, when i would be able to get my haircut, the lady at the front desk went to check and said my hair stylist is running late, i politely asked her how long of a wait it would be. She proceeded to tell me that it might be a while and that i would be able to grab a coffee from across the street. I told her i would rather wait. After a few minutes the hairstylist proceeded to tell me to go to the sink asked me what I would like to get done, I told her I would like to get a simple haircut and she proceeded to tell me about the products she could sell me and I said I would like to proceed with a deep conditioner. i was not told i would wait 30-45 minutes for the deep conditioner to sink in while sitting at the sink. My roommate noticed i was there for a while and asked her stylist to check up on me. my stylist proceed to come back, talk smack about my roommates current hair color and how she would "never be able to get what she wanted" and never told her about it. i was not confident in my hairstyles skills so i asked for a haircut straight across and she still made it slightly uneven. truly, if you're in the area, sportclips would be able to do a better job and they mainly work on men's hair. probably would be able to give you better service as well. the women are snotty and make you feel uncomfortable. read more

Okay, I have read the other reviews. Let me address a couple of their comments. Too pricey? I throw my head in the air and laugh out loud. These women are specialty trained, confident, thorough, and good listeners with great follow through. I have been visiting Christina for several months now and I am so very happy! She is wonderful. She listens, verifies, and then carefully designs my hair so it will look the best for me. Too much money? Get over it. I have had my hair done by Houston Contour Cutters and Huntsville "Let's charge too much cuz we don't want them back anyway" salons and by Sybil Sheppard's (and other stars) cutter at the Galleria in Houston. I read, "I think it costs too much for Wichita Falls, Tx". To that I say, "WHAT?" You get what you pay for and the results may not be instant. I have purchased products from Tangles and they too are improving my hair. Little by little and with a great deal of expertise, my hair is improving. I spent a virtual fortune at J...C...P...here in WF's just to have their specialist DESTROY my hair one year ago. To the Military comment about price I make a tiny suggeston: Maybe Tangle's solution for you would be a small discount like many other of the local businesses. You are proudly representing our country and do deserve some special perks. It could truly increase Tangle's business and could help keep you gorgeous! With Tangle's help my hair is improving fast and I'm feeling better about myself. How much is that worth? I wouldn't go anywhere else. Give it a try. And, to those of you that are complaining about the price I ask you; "didn't you ask how much before going in?" If not, then be glad you didn't contact any of the REAL EXPENSIVE salons. If you knew about the price up front my question is, "why did you GO there?" Head on out and get a cheap cut! Then go review that one. I am new to the area and was looking for a new salon. When I called the receptionist was friendly and helped me make an appointment. Then I was asked for my credit card! Wait...what? You want my credit card "on file" to hold my appointment. Oh I think not. I have NEVER been asked for a credit card up front before I've even been in the door. This is absurd to me. Needless to say I said NEVER MIND! I will keep looking for a salon. I'm still shaking my head and thinking what has this world come to. Loved my haircut, but shocked at the price tag! I got my haircut at Tangles for the first time yesterday. The stylist did an amazing job and spent quite a bit of time making sure my cut was just right. However, the cost of the hair cut blew me away. $55 for a haircut in Wichita Falls, TX seems outrageous to me! Their website states that a haircut costs $35 and up. I didn't figure the "and up" would be so high. This was simply a haircut (no color, highlights, etc.) I've been to several swanky salons in other parts of the country and never paid more than $45 for a cut and that included a neck/shoulder massage and a drink. I'd love to go see this stylist again, but can't afford it. read more

I have been going to Tangles Salon for about 3 years and I am so pleased with this Salon experience. I am greeted as I come in the door and given a nice cozy place to sit with reading material. I rarely wait over 5-10 minutes before someone escorts me to the shampoo area. I love watching the fashion shows on TV while being shampooed and the person shampooing me is always very friendly and talkative but not overly so. She makes it a calm and relaxing experience. She does offer me added on items such as special conditioners but I never feel pushed to buy something I do not want. Next I am taken to the Salon chair and treated to an expert cut and style by stylist Robin Cook. In her absence I have also used Leslie Cook, Keely Martinez, Mercedes Villasana, and Sherry Dunn. I have always been very satisfied with my experience at Tangles Salon and highly recommend it. read more
